Character Basics
Full Name: Joshua Matthew "Matty" Barsky
Birthdate: July 5th 2005
Magical Status: Wizard
Appearance:
With ears that protrude slightly from his head, Matty is a somewhat petite boy with a frock of untamed brown hair and angular features. His blue eyes make him a bit of an oddity, given his parents both have brown, but they hold the same unmistakable spark as his father's. The sides of his head are kept cut shorter than the rest, mimicking his father's hair as closely as possible. A collection of light, almost undetectable, freckles adorns his cheeks and nose, always more prominent in the summer. His favorite shoes are an old pair of black converse sneakers that compliment his long narrow feet in a way that doesn't make him feel like a clown. Most days he can be seen wearing these sneakers, along with a pair of skinny jeans and a leather jacket. Almost every time you see his face he'll be wearing a sarcastic smile or cheeky grin, flashing a glimpse of the dimple in his right cheek and his bucked front teeth.

Character Story
Personality:
Matty has a bit of a short attention span, but he's very clever and often times sarcastic and bratty. He's also very open minded and accepting, both of ideas and people. He's never been judgmental or mean, but he never shies away from a good argument no matter what side he's on. He just loves to debate. He also loves sports of all kinds, but Quidditch above all others. His true passion lies in flying though. He is never more calm and free than when he's on a broom.
He has a very close relationship with his uncle Ben. They spend a lot of time together, doing things and having heart-to-heart conversations. Matty always runs to his uncle first when he's having problems in school, with his siblings, or is confused or curious about something. His relationship with his father is less open, but a happy balance between laughs and groundings all the same. He isn't a bad kid, but he likes to test the limits and has a sarcastic attitude about it which can get him in trouble with his parents sometimes.
Strengths: Brave, Open-minded, Athletic
Weaknesses: Sarcastic, Impulsive, Headstrong
Personal History:
Matt was born in July of 2005, the third born child to Adam and Maggie Barsky. They knew right away that he was a wizard, easily spotting the signs when their son was just two years old. He was rebellious from a young age, always testing the boundaries set for him in new and creative ways. He was also a very sweet, clever boy with many questions about the world. Around age six he developed an understanding of sarcasm, and from that moment on he had a sarcastic remark for almost every situation.
Matt was always a very smart kid, but his short attention span meant he had a hard time focusing during exams so his grades didn't always reflect how smart he was. All through primary school he struggled to keep his grades up, and the family even tried putting him on ADD medication when he was nine. Unfortunately the medication made him anxious and drowsy, so they took him off it just a few months later. Rather than talk seriously about his struggle in school, Matty played it off with sarcastic humor with everyone but his uncle Ben. The one thing he always excelled at, aside from being a sarcastic brat, was flying. He received his first toy broom on his third birthday, and from then on it seemed he spent more time in the sky than on solid ground. For his eleventh birthday his parents gave him a Stardust 750, which he proudly rode through the air for the rest of the night without even opening the rest of his presents.
Though it wasn't a surprise, it was very exciting when Matty got his acceptance letter from Hogwarts. He was looking forward to learning how to practice magic, like his older sisters. He was disappointed however when he learned first years were not permitted to bring their own brooms to school. Now he and his family are once again preparing for the coming school year when, for the first and only time, all three Barsky children will be at Hogwarts together.
Sample Post:
Matt shrugged his jacket off and let it fall to the floor. He still had the chill of the night on his skin. His hair was windswept and askew, a lazy smile on his face. He wasn't particularly concerned with the fact that he still had a dozen unopened gifts downstairs. Nor did he give a thought to the fact that he'd come in an hour past his curfew. He didn't care what the night had cost him. It had been the most exhilarating ride of his life, and he would never regret it. This, his eleventh birthday, was the best he'd ever had. His parents had given him the best gift ever. A Stardust 750! As soon as he'd opened it he'd taken it straight outside and ridden it all night long. He sighed and let himself fall onto his bed. Staring up at his ceiling, Matt took a deep breath and grinned happily. This is living.. he thought. This is the life.
