PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Lichtendahl has dark brown hair, the root of where all his children gained their darker colored hair from. He has blue eyes that are a shade off of being grey in color. In height, Lichtendahl stands roughly six feet, three inches tall, the tallest member of the Klein family. His weight is just a tid bit below average for his height.. When it comes to clothing, he is often found in his Ministry robes. When it is not needed for him to wear them, he is always wearing suits. He is rarely found wearing anything but dress clothing, as he is more of a serious guy then a joker.
PERSONALITY, TRAITS & QUIRKS
Lichtendahl can be very strict at times and is very serious. He makes sure to do everything right the first time so that things do not need to be corrected or done a second time. He also encourages this behavior on those around him. Being strict is mainly towards his children, as he doesn't want them to graduate and become nothing. He wants the best of them and expects the best from them. He makes it a point to tell his children that a Ministry job is the best profession and the only true profession any of them could take. He does see other jobs as being alright, and sometimes respectable, but they aren't jobs that he would want any of his children to take up. He has great pride in his children, and in himself and his wife. It is clearly seen, that like his parents to him, he pushes his views onto his children. And although he may be tough on them, he does care and love his children. They're his pride and joy.
When it comes to those who work for him, he likes them to be orderly. He makes it a point to stress that being on time for everything is quite important. To him, if you're early then you're on time, but if you arrive right at the designated time, then you are late. He heavily rewards his workers for their hard work with giving them days off when it is possible. He doesn't like to see his workers overworking themselves and does worry about their mental health as well as physical health. So although he may be a strict Minister, he also treats most as if they were his own flesh and blood. He tends to have interns looked after with care as he wants their experience in the Ministry to be the best so that they will stay. He refuses to accept any forms of harrassing or pranking of others within his Ministry walls and won't tolerate it. The only day he'll accept for joking is on April 1st, where, as long as the prank does not cause great grief for the entire Ministry or an entire Department, any prank is allowed.
HISTORY & PAST
Lichtendahl was the fourth child born to Atanas and Elena Klein. He spoke more German than Bulgarian growing up, forced to learn Bulgarian because he lived in Bulgaria. Living on the boarder of Germany and Bulgaria was not helpful in raising him to feel Bulgarian in the least. It was through Martin and Petar, his elder brothers, that he learned to be properly behaved. It was Olga who made sure he was still kind, as his brothers tended to be on the mean side. All he learned he turned towards his younger sisters Rayna and Viktoriya.
Lichtendahl didn't care for Durmstrang once he started. He had his siblings there, so he made him determined to be better than them. He had a select group of friends he hung around, staying away from most clubs, although he found the Dueling Club to be the club for him. He graduated in 1964 with top marks and was accepted in the Bulgarian Ministry of Magic to start an internship in the Auror Department.
It felt like a slow three years before he became a fullfledged Auror but he still managed it. It was probably the highlight of his years working in the Ministry, getting to track down bad guys. He wasn't the only Auror in the family, as Petar was also an Auror. It seemed like a family affair, going into the Ministry, but it helped him meet Lilyana. Lilyana had been a year below him at Durmstrang, although they had never been in the same social group. In his second year of internship, he spoke to her for the first time. Within two years they were married.
Lichtendahl couldn't remember ever caring about someone more tha Lilyana. When he was 25, their first son was born. Lichty really remembers Petya's loud cries, as he quickly became sick at the entire process of a baby being born. After that, he tended to just tell all his children that a stork brought them to them so spare himself the trouble of explaining how a baby is born. With Petya's birth, Lilyana was torn between working or staying at home. Lichtendahl convinced her staying home was fine and he would work hard enough to support them and their family. Their second son, Kiril, was born three years later.
So when he had his leg blown off in a duel at age thirty, Lichty wasn't sure if returning back to the Auror Department was right for him. It was Martin who helped him acquire the job as the Junior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic. It was a painful process, restoring a lost limb. It was really Lilyana and the kids who helped him through. It was also the knowledge of a child on the way that made him work harder.
Zara was born shortly after the accident. Life just settled into being routine after that. The birth of his son Ioan and daughter Anastasiya created small bumps, but the next exciting thing in his life was Petya's first day at Durmstrang. How Lichtendahl was proud of his son, who really didn't want to see his dad crying. Petya was more annoyed that he was sharing his start of Durmstrang with the birth of his sister Marina. But life calmed back down, even with the birth of the youngest boys Ivaylo and Valentin.
The birth of Valentin was the same day that Lichtendahl, at age 40, was promoted to Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic. Most of his work was still the same, but he was given more authority to do his work. It was quite exciting and he certainly was able to support his wife and children, which was important since his kids were slowly reaching school age. With every child going to school meant one more list of school books to obtain, which did take a good chunk of his pay to purchase.
Two years ago was probably the happiest year for him. With the resignation of the former Minister of Magic, Lichtendahl was able to step up to the plate and take up the vacant position. He was known across the Ministry for his personality of wanting things to run smoothly and often spending long hours in the Ministry to do whatever he set out to do. He has been doing a fine job since getting the position. He certainly isn't the most loved person by everyone, but he's certainly not the most hated person in the Ministry.
