Full Name: Maya Parker Birthdate: November 25th, 1983 Age: 13 Blood Status: Half-Blood | Father: Samuel Parker (Wizard) Mother: Christina Parker (Muggle) Strengths: Independent - Determined Weaknesses: Impulsive - Reckless |
Appearance: A typical teenager. She is average height and weight. She has long dark brown hair and blue eyes. There is nothing too out of the ordinary about her appearance, but she is happy to talk about several scars she has gotten while on her "adventures."
Personality: Maya is a very open-minded and happy individual. She tries to find the brighter side of every situation, and does her best to help others do this as well. She believes in people, almost to a fault, and will take the time to try and get to know someone and their strengths. She's adventurous, imaginative, and has a thirst for knowledge. Because of these traits she makes friends fairly easily, and strives to make people feel welcome in all situations.
Despite all this however, it takes a special something to be truly trusted by Maya. Because of her life at home she doesn't allow too many people into her very personal side. It's easier to take on the burden of others than to let them into any she has herself. Once her trust is earned however, she is a loyal friend. She holds her loved ones in a very high regard, and will do whatever she can to help them.

Maya is the only daughter of Christina and Samuel Parker. Although her father is a wizard, it was something that he had kept secret to both Maya and her mother for as long as he could. When Maya was younger, she started to exhibit 'strange behaviors' which Samuel recognized as the markers of a magical child. One example being- objects that Maya wanted, that were kept out of reach, would suddenly be in her possession. Most of these Samuel was able to explain away immediately with the excuse that Maya was an active child. However, when Maya was around the age of 5, she accidentally broke one of her mother's glass figurines. After being scolded by her mother for the action, the figurine suddenly fixed itself almost seamlessly before their eyes. It was then that Samuel knew he had to come clean about his magical background. This event was significant to Maya, because it was her mother's reaction and ultimate loyalty to her husband that helped define many of Maya's morals.
Upon learning that her father was a wizard, naturally, Maya became very obsessed with magic. She wanted to know more about the wizarding world and everything involved. Her father, however, was not too keen on the idea. He would talk to her very little about things she wanted to know, humoring her in hopes to calm her curiosity. This backfired however, as each new thing she learned of the magical hidden world only sparked more interest. What her father would not tell her, she used her imagination to complete. She talked the neighborhood children into playing witches and wizards with her, being careful to not let on that she knew such powers existed. Even at a young age she understood by her father's example that such things were to be kept secret.
Because her parents wanted Maya's life to be as "normal" as possible, she was enrolled in starter school along with all the other Muggle children. Maya made friends quickly due to her outgoing personality and active imagination. She was quick to lead her classmates on fantastic adventures through jungles, underwater castles, and other unseen worlds. It was through these adventures that Maya met her first, could-be crush, a boy named Tom Anderson. The two of them hit it off right away, as he would match her creations and stories with equally creative ideas of his own. Since love isn't something that children generally think about, the two simply became best friends and practically inseparable.
On Maya's eleventh birthday, her letter from Hogwarts arrived. There were mixed emotions from all in her family. Her mother and father were both proud and fearful. Maya herself was excited at the idea of finally learning for herself the magic that had been only eluded to before, and distraught by the idea that she would have to leave her closest friend Tom behind. It was quickly decided that Maya would attend Hogwarts under the guise that she was being sent to a boarding school. Breaking the news to Tom, without telling him the true story, was the hardest thing Maya had to do in her short lifetime.
The night before Maya was to leave for Hogwarts, she and Tom had a sleepover in his tree house. Together they watched the stars through the window of the wooden structure and created a story together about the adventure Maya was taking to a mysterious country full of mystical creatures and sorcery. It was during this that Tom presented Maya with a necklace he had made for her from his mother's craft supplies. It was a simple trinket to mimic the movie the two had watched earlier. The pendant a crescent moon, which would become a symbol to Maya (much as in the movie) that both could see the sky, and think of each other.... perhaps viewing the moon together despite the distance.
During Maya's first year at Hogwarts she spent much of her time exploring the castle and learning everything she could about the wizarding world. It was exciting times at Hogwarts with the Triwizard Tournament in full swing. This meant other schools were visiting, which meant that Maya was making friends not just from Hogwarts... but from other schools aswell. She of course, also starts to learn about the famous Harry Potter, and starts to see much like a role model. A boy knowing nothing of the wizarding world, now Triwizard Champion. It is hard for her not to admire him, and hope that she too can rise above the norm.
