Appearance: Roy has excessively long, dark hair, which he has apparently despaired of ever combing. This tangled dark mass falls about to the middle of his back. He also has vividly bright and curious blue-green eyes, overlooked by dark eyebrows. He has perfectly white teeth, and thin lips to cover them. Roy has a very large, hooked nose. Age has left its mark upon Roy, however, and smile wrinkles cover his oval-shaped face. He has a square chin, and is always clean-shaven. Ugh, that five o'clock shadow. He stands at an impressive 6'4", yet he is more slim than muscular. He often wears dark make-up around his eyes and mouth, to spook people, which generally works. He usually wears dark clothing, preferring black leather to anything else.
Personality: Though Roy's actions and appearance can appear horrific to people who meet him for the first time, Roy is actually quite a fine chap. He is really a charming old lad, and really enjoys to be with people, even if these people are more often than not, spooked. He likes to do creepy things, like eat live tadpoles (they're so crunchy!), but it doesn't make him unkind. He wholeheartedly accepts and enjoys the fact most find him strange, while he is rather a fundamentally good man. He is very extroverted, kind, and sympathetic. He wants all of his clients to be satisfied. For a man so old, he is rather overexcited about everything. Everything fasinates Roy. He is curious to learn everything, and marvels at everything: from butterflies to Nintendo, to Dungbombs. He is fascinated by children, and though he has never had any, he loves to watch them come in his shop. Roy isn't power-hungry, he doesn't really want to create an empire for himself, he just thinks he makes good wands, and that others ought to experience them.
History/Past: Roy Villedieu was born in Bergues on the 5th of August 1935, to wizard Maurice Villedieu and witch Clémence Arpin. He was the third born in a family of four. His elder brother Claude (1922-1940) died during the war, before the redition of France to Germany, when Roy was four years old. Clémence had suffered through three miscarriages before she finally gave birth to Dominique, Roy's elder by two years. Her grief at the death of Claude was only overcome with her great faith, and the birth of Roy's only sister, Simone, born in 1941. Sadly, however, fate was not going to let the Villedieu family alone. Simone died in 1947 as a result of a childhood sickness. Dominique and Roy were now the only children left in the Villedieu family. Clémence now leaned more heavily than ever on her strong faith to live, and, over his teenage years, Roy found himself grow weary of it, and, as a young adult, was completely estranged with his mother.
He graduated with excellent grades from l' Académie Beauxbâtons, and, while his brother Dominique followed in his father's footsteps and took up the family bookstore, Roy followed his true calling: wandlore. Shortly thereafter, he opened a wand shop in Lille, simply named Baguette, and his businness flourished. He soon became well-known in all of France for the quality of his wands, and his artistic daring. Sure enough, Roy made wands that enchanted France. He used Dragon heartstrings, Unicorn hair, Phoenix feather, Veela hair, Banshee vocal chords, Phoenix tears, and has even produced a miracle: he has crafted himself a wand filled with his own blood. It is his most valued possession.
At age 38, he found the love of his life in the person of Aliénor Dupont, a French Auror. It is her that pushed him to reconciliate with his mother. She was to die ten years later of a stroke. Roy sees his brother and father quite often, and values the family ties his still has. Roy's only regret is that he never had children, because Aliénor was a little old for that. However, he treats his snakes like he would children.
Lately, he has taken to trying his hand at exporting wands, and in England, has come to find competition in Ollivander. He however immensely respects the British wandmaker and his talent, but is persuaded he bests him. His ambition has led him to travel in many European countries, and however unmanageable his French accent may be, he has found himself very keen to pick up on foreign tongues. He has made friends in several Ministries, and it has helped him a lot, on the whole.
Interests/Hobbies: Roy is fond of fine wines and cheeses, he loves to enjoy the merriments of life. He is passionate about his wife, Aliénor Dupont, whom he loves tenderly. He is also passionate about wandlore, trying to learn all there is to know about trees, about core substances, and everything. Roy likes most things he comes across, and is by no means a dark wizard. He just finds EVERYTHING fascinating. Especially if it happens to also be strange and slimy. Roy loves to taste things, and loves to indulge in lasting conversations with people over a glass of brandy. He likes to meet new people, and speak with them at length. When he's not working, Roy can most likely be found throwing rollers into water points and watching them rebound. Otherwise, if he's not chatting up to random people, he's spending quality time with his beloved wife, or with Capucine.
Pets: Roy keeps an aquarium of tadpoles for his personal consumption, but he doesn't really refer to them as pets. He eats them. He also owns a rather large tankard of white mice, but they're food for his boa, Capucine, whom he's had for three years. As a child he owned tarantulas, but gave that species up when he discovered he preferred eating them to breeding them (there went Marcel, his first childhood pet). He only possessed boas from then on. Up to now, he has had five (Cyrille, Dieudonné, Flavienne, Roch, and, now, Capucine).
Family Position: Third of an original family of four; currently the youngest of two living siblings.
Favourite Class and Why: Charms and Transfiguration. Aaah, the amazing things wands can perform!
Least Favourite Class and Why: Potions were always Roy's least favourite class, because it didn't involve using his wand enough to his taste.
