Character Story
Personality:
Sam is tough, in some respects; she prefers to be just one of the guys. Graceful, feminine traits usually don't come naturally to her, although on occasion she does get quite emotional or contradictory. She can be stubborn and rash, following her instincts or her desires instead of her brain's rationalities - likely traits which landed her in Gryffindor rather than Ravenclaw (the family-favored house).
She loves exploring and going on adventures even more than she enjoys learning and trying new types of magic. Although she loves spending her time with people and tries to be around someone almost constantly, she sometimes has trouble paying attention and her mind tends to wander. Loyal, protective, and always willing to jump in to a fight (a habit she learned from her older brother and cousins), she strives to be a positive asset to any adventure.
Samara also has a habit of trying to keep herself preoccupied in order to not have to think about some of the more troubling things in her life. As an adult she owns a pensieve, and keeps many a painful memory in vials on the shelf. She is always looking for something fun or exciting to do because it helps take her mind off of these things. She isn't one who can simply turn off her brain, so these outlets are necessary for her to stay positive.

Personal History:
Sam didn't really cope with her parents' expectations as a child. Her father is Head of the Dept. for International Affairs, and her mother used to be an editor for the Daily Prophet until her third child, Sam's younger sister, after which she retired to stay at home with the children. A high-end family, her parents wanted her to learn to conform and be a good young lady with manners and respect for other peoples' fences. Of course, that didn't turn out too well, and at age 8 she was sent to boarding school with other privileged girls. Being constantly surrounded by stuck-up, girly girls finally proved too much for her and Sam packed a small bag and ran away. She nearly froze to death in London and was rescued by Percy Weasley. She was sent home and finished her elementary schooling with her less wealthy cousins in a comprehensive school.
A month before her 11th birthday, she received her Hogwarts letter and was sent away from her rich wizarding town. She was sorted into Gryffindor instead of the family favorite, Ravenclaw. Her older brother, Patrick, was a Ravenclaw fifth year at the time.
At age 12, she was given the opportunity to play reserve for the Gryffindor quidditch team as a Beater, and soon rose to the challenge and excitement of the game. She was injured in the Gryffindor v Slytherin match, however, and did not get to play again until third year, when she was picked to play on the team permanently.
She had initially desired to become a healer after school, but that dream fell short with her grades and attention span in Potions and Herblogy class. Although she enjoyed learning about healing charms and spells, her fancies soon became aligned with defensive and protective spells. She wasn't sure quite where that would take her, but didn't put too much worry in trying to decide just then.
After leaving Hogwarts, Samara traveled the world with a friend for the summer. Then she had her first job at the Snowdonia Dragon Sanctuary in Wales, where her defensive magic came in handy every day. She stayed there for a year and then returned to London for a summer vacation which turned permanent. She picked up a part-time job at a muggle cafe and when she wasn't working, she was training with an off-the-books group of wizards whose job it was to be travel companions and bodyguards for wealthy figures.
Several weeks after she turned 22, however, the group's base was raided and they were broken apart by Magical Law Enforcement. She was held in temporary confinement in St. Mungo's due to a traumatic curse to the leg. Upon questioning, Samara was offered a pardon deal -- if she joined the Hit Wizards branch of Magical Law Enforcement. This, of course, she took them up on. It took her a little while, but she came to love the job, and worked at it for quite some time.
Upon starting her training, she met and became quick friends with Zeppelin Wynne, a hit wizard five years her senior. However, she didn't expect to find herself falling for him. After a night where things finally came to blows between the two of them, and ended with something more than a kiss, she was left confused and hurting.
A month later, Samara had her first semi-successful mission with Zeppelin as her partner. They caught the dark wizard, but Sam was left with a traumatic head injury severe enough to warrant a stay in St. Mungo's; Zeppelin brought her there. She ended up staying at his apartment after Mungo's for further observation, where their relationship changed forever.
