Need To Catch Up

[Emil Hargreaves]

"Okay..." Emil said as he looked up, now for the first time beginning to sound a bit less terrified, "You're sure?" he asked as he looked around once again, still trembling a little bit at the thought of that hideous beast hiding beneath their boat waiting to strike.

[Anne Williams]

"Yeah, I think maybe it was sleeping or something," Anne said, trying to come up with a reason why it didn't follow the boat.

[Emil Hargreaves]

"Good! Let it stay sleeping!" Emil said, poking his head cautiously over the side of the boat to confirm that everything was safe. "Why haven't they killed that awful thing?" he asked, shuddering once more at the thought of how creepy it was.

[Anne Williams]

"They can't kill it!" Anne said, a little shocked at Emil's suggestion. "It's probably been living here for years and years, it's like a Hogwarts legend thing."

[Emil Hargreaves]

"And a danger to everyone who goes to school here!" Emil retorted, looking gingerly over the side of the boat and scowling down at the inky water below. Somewhere down there the threat still lingered undiscovered, and Emil was not going to let his guard down again so long as it was still out there!

[Anne Williams]

"He's never eaten anyone, though," Anne said, defending the creature. "I think if it did eat someone, Dumbledore would do something about it."

Surely, Dumbledore wouldn't allow dangerous beasts on the school grounds, so the squid must be harmless.

[Emil Hargreaves]

"First time for everything." replied Emil, who of course was determined not to be that one unnecessary statistic. "If I caught it, I'd be a hero! A legend!" Emil mused, rather liking the idea of being all heroic.

[Anne Williams]

"So you want to go back and catch it now?" Anne was beginning to get a little confused. When they had actually seen the Giant Squid, just lazing around in the lake, Emil had screamed and she had rowed the boat by herself until they left the thing behind.

[Emil Hargreaves]

Emil thought about it for a moment before shaking his head and saying "No, I'll not do any good - just get myself eaten by that monstrocity if I tried." Emil was a realistic boy, and he was not about to go and get himself killed on some foolhardy venture!

[Anne Williams]

"Good, because I don't think catching it would have been the best idea," Anne chuckled, wondering if anyone had ever tried to before. "We're almost back at the boathouse now, anyway."

[Emil Hargreaves]

"Yeah, hopefully we can just get the heck out of here quick." Emil said, looking all around him and shuddering. He was still partially convinced that the squid was going to rise up out of the lake and try to eat him!

[Anne Williams]

"Alright," Anne said, slowing down a little when they approached the boathouse. "Are you hungry?" She asked, because she actually was starting to feel a little hunger. They probably had something available to eat in the Great Hall.

[Emil Hargreaves]

Emil shrugged and replied "I might be." He was sorta hungry, but he didn't want to force Anne to head inside if she was not ready to go in just yet. That would be lame, and Emil did not want to appear lame under any circumstances!

[Anne Williams]

"You might be? Surely you know if you're hungry or not?" Anne asked, giving Emil an odd look. To her, it seemed like a yes or no question. You either were hungry, or you weren't.

[Emil Hargreaves]

"Oh fine, I'm hungry." Emil admitted, looking at the floor of the boat rather annoyed "But I don't want to drag you there if you're not, so whatever you want to do is fine with me."

[Anne Williams]

"I'm hungry too, that's why I asked," Anne laughed, Emil was silly sometimes. "Shall we go to the Great Hall, see what they have?" She suggested.

[Emil Hargreaves]

Emil exhaled a sigh of relief when his comments did not completely shoot him in the foot, and he nodded as he agreed "Yes, that sounds like an excellent idea!" The recent encounter with the Giant Squid had been quite terrifying, and that terror had only seemed to serve to make the boy hungrier.

[Anne Williams]

"Alright," Anne smiled, "I hope it's good!" She added, before exiting the boathouse and setting off towards the castle.

"Agreed." Emil replied with a smile as the two of them set off for the Castle, his stomach rumbling loudly as they went. Perhaps he had been a bit more hungry than he had admitted.
