The Things Boredom Compels Us To Do

Postby Elizabeth Mendler » Sun May 06, 2012 2:09 pm

Summer had arrived, and Eliza could feel it with her entire being. She loved the summer, and she knew that the idea of this summer, one where she wouldn't have to return to school, sounded completely amazing. Hopefully, she would be spending it staying up far too late, sleeping in for half the day, modeling loads of cute bathing suits and summer fashions, and best of all, spending time with Harry. That seemed like it was going to be the best part to Eliza.

It was a Saturday, a particularly warm one at that, and she was waiting for Harry to come meet up with her in the center of town. Only being able to meet up with him certain weekends of the months was frustrating to her, when she wanted to spend way more time with him than that, but she was putting up with it, especially when she knew that they wouldn't have to worry about the silly weekend restrictions much longer. For the time being, she was just going to enjoy whatever time she did get with Harry, and count down the days until she could see him any day of the week.

Re: The Things Boredom Compels Us To Do

Harry had graduated from Salem a couple of weeks before, but he'd had to leave for Los Angeles with his family not long after. He'd have liked to have stayed but the boy had things to arrange for himself and eventually Eliza if they were going to be able to do what they'd planned. He'd arranged to come visit Elizabeth this weekend though, having not seen her for a week or so, he found himself longing for his girlfriend like usual. The young man enjoyed the weather that they were receiving and had dressed in some comfortable, but stylish summer clothing.

He apparated to the centre of the city in a quiet alley, thankful that no one else was there to see him. From here Eliza made his way to the meeting spot where he'd arranged to meet the brunette. Coming from behind, he could see her upahead and as he approached, he placed his hands over her eyes from behind and laughed. "Guess who?" He asked, whispering into her playfully.

Eliza felt hands close around her eyes as she stood, waiting, and she jumped with surprise. Upon hearing her boyfriend's voice, though, she grinned and laughed. "Oh, I don't know, sounds like the voice of a complete stranger I haven't seen in weeks." She backed up until she was resting against him, tilting her head backwards to look up, removing his hands from her eyes at the same time. Eliza smiled, completely happy to see Harry finally after his being in Los Angeles for so long.

Harry laughed as she spoke and uncovered his hands from over her eyes. He smiled down at her as she looked up at him then dipped his head to kiss her forehead affectionately. It had been a little while since he'd been able to visit. Since graduating his father had insisted on him hanging out at the family's main shop in L.A. where he knew it was expected for him to learn the ropes then eventually follow his father's footsteps. It was a drag and he'd never been so disinterested in anything than doing it. He smiled brightly. "Well, how can it be a complete stranger if you've seen him before?" He asked with a grin. He stepped around to face the girl still smiling. "Hope you're not waiting too long." He told her, not wanting her to have had to wait on him.

"Ah, alright, maybe not a complete stranger," she replied, still grinning. "Just mostly so. I've missed you. Things in Salem are ridiculously boring without you." Eliza had been doing nothing but sleeping and cleaning, mostly her room, figuring out which things she no longer wanted or needed, which things she wanted to keep there at the house with her parents, and what she wanted to take with her. Things hadn't exactly been finalized with her for moving across the country, and her parents were still quite opposed to the idea, but she was eighteen and she could do what she wanted. "No, not long at all. Just showed up a few minutes ago."

Harry laughed and nodded. His smile faltered slightly when she expressed how much she had missed him. "I know. I missed you just as much." He admitted. "I've been bored out of my mind at my dad's work. It sucks. I've been looking forward to this all week though, so you better make the most of me." He teased her with a grin, reaching down to take one of her hands in his own. He entwined his fingers through hers and smiled. "And I've got some exciting news." He said with a cheeky wink.

"This has been the only motivation I've had to actually go through this week, so I know exactly how you feel. Trust me, I'm not going to waste a moment if I can help it." Eliza smiled at the sight of Harry's hand in hers. "News? About what?" She immediately questioned, wondering what he could be referring to. Any exciting news that he had was certainly better than anything she had to say, though, and she was curious.

He laughed at her eagerness to find out what it was that he had to tell her. Since they'd spoken about Eliza moving to Los Angeles, they'd had quite a few difficulties with it. At least when it came to getting other people to agree and support it. Apparently her parents didn't like the idea, nor did his. That was for something completely different though. "I told my father how you're not a witch," He admitted, keeping his voice low. "He didn't like it at all," He confessed not wanting to keep it from Eliza. "--But there's not a whole lot he can do nor do I care too much." He had always been disappointing his father. "Anyway, the real news, the good news is one of my Uncles owns a bunch of apartments and I asked him about one of them and he thinks he might have one for us." He admitted smiling. "For when you eventually come, I mean."

Eliza nodded, frowning a little when Harry told her that his father didn't approve of her. She still had difficulty grasping the concept of magical bloodlines and pureblood status, as she was completely new to the idea that magic even existed, so she had a hard time understanding why it would be such a big deal to Mr. Eisen if she wasn't a witch. But she hadn't dare tell her parents about what Harry was, for fear of them freaking out and thinking she was crazy, so she supposed something like that might work both ways. "Well, I guess I'm just going to have to try extra hard to impress him, and show him how wonderful I can be." Eliza told the boy, smiling gently.

She listened to the other news, and a huge smile broke out on her face. "No way! Oh, Harry, that's absolutely wonderful! One less thing to worry about now," she grinned, wrapping him in a hug. Finding a place where she could live was her main concern, next to getting in touch with a modeling agency. If she had a place to live, then it was almost a done deal. "And one more step closer to me being there. Are you... I mean, would you be staying with me? Or would you still be at home with your parents?"

Harry had tried to explain the way some wizards were about blood lines, but the girl had been a little confused, which he totally understood. He was a little worried about his father messing things up, but if Eliza and he were going to make it long term then he needed to find a way to make his father accept her. That was why he was bothering trying with his companies, in order to appease him and maybe make him lighten up a little.

He laughed as she hugged him and he returned the hug, nodding at her words. "Yes. He'll rent us it for some really low amount and it's a really sweet place too," He told her with a grin. His father's brother was just as filthy rich as his own family. His brow furrowed at her question and he smiled. "I said it was for us." He repeated with a grin. "That is if that's the way you want it." He said with a smile.

Eliza let out delighted laughter, not able to contain how excited she was. It was all coming together so well, and she was so amazed at that. "I swear, this keeps getting better all the time." Her cheeks went a light pink in color as he repeated that it was for the two of them. "Of course, I'm just so happy that I'm not retaining everything that I'm hearing right now. It's all so good to be true, but yes, I absolutely, one hundred percent want you there with me. I couldn't have it any other way."

Harry knew how fast and crazy they were being, but he was crazy about her and he thought they knew what they were doing. There were loads of risks with it, but what was life without risk? He smiled as she squealed with delighted laughter. She seemed pleased by the news. "Well good, in that case I will be." He said with a smile. The idea of the two of them sharing an apartment together was crazy and amazing at the same time. "So yes, everything is sorted regarding that. It's a pretty decent spot too, so you should be able to get to where you need to go without any problems." He told her with a grin, knowing how important it was that she was still clued in with this modelling agencies and stuff.

Elizabeth didn't think of any potential problems they could have. She already knew how it felt to move all the way across the country once, and while that had been years ago, she was still familiar with the process. She was just worried about how she was going to feel living thousands of miles away from her parents and her friends. Of course, they could always come visit her when they wanted, but she would still be living so far from them. "That's wonderful, and perfect. Harry, you're so amazing for getting all this set up. If I haven't told you this before, which I'm sure I have, I love you so unbelievably much." Eliza smiled up at him, reaching forward to kiss him.

Eliza was clearly very happy with the news, which made him happy. Every time he met up with her he felt happy, much more so than he ever was without her. This was why he was so excited about the plans they had made and why he was trying his best to sort everything so that it would all be perfect. He smiled and leant in to accept the kiss from her, kissing her gently and smiling as he gently touched her cheek with his hand. He drew back. "So, what are we doing today?" He asked her with a grin.

"Oh, today! I almost forgot, because of your good news." Eliza grinned at him, starting to walk away from the place where they were standing, her hand still in Harry's. "You know how little there is to do here, so I'm afraid today won't be terribly exciting, but you get to see me, so it's a trade off. I figured we could just go walk on the beach for a bit, and maybe get in the water and stuff? I'm wearing a new bikini that I'm dying to show off." She wasn't as shy about getting compliments and looks from her boyfriend as she used to be, when they first started going out, and it was clearly evident by the way she joked around with him.

Harry laughed at her reaction and listened to her suggestion. He thought it was a great idea especially given how good the weather was. The boy smiled and nodded. "There is very little to do," He admitted with a bit of a cheeky grin. He was only joking really which Eliza would know. When she offered the two of them to go to the beach and play in the water, he nodded with a grin. His eyes widened with mischief and he grinned. "You're dying to show it off, huh? Well I'll have to be the judge of it now, won't I?" He asked her, grinning and squeezing her hand gently. He hadn't seen Eliza in a bikini before beyond a couple of her pictures. "Luckily I dressed for the occasion." He said looking down at his shorts and t shirt combo.

Eliza laughed as she watched Harry's face light up with mischief, nodding her head. "Yes, you will have to be the judge of it. If I do say so myself, it's pretty adorable." She continued walking along, knowing that the beach was a little ways away. "And yeah, lucky you did. I was going to give you a heads up before today, but I figured that as a Cali boy, you would probably come in something suitable for beach weather."

Harry laughed at her words. "Is that so? Well, you're not the judge, are you? I am so I'll just have to draw my own opinions." He teased her with a smile. It felt good to be back with her once again. Being in a relationship that was fractured in how often you saw your partner had only deepened his feelings for Elizabeth. He smiled at her hidden dig at him and scowled. "I'm not a Cali boy." He said, shaking his head. "I mean I am, but I'm not, if that makes sense," He laughed and shrugged his shoulders smiling at her. "So what if I am!? He said with a laugh.

Eliza could feel herself getting back into her normal way of talking and playing with Harry, and it was an entirely comforting, happy feeling. "Fine, you can draw your own conclusions. But I already have a feeling I know what those opinions are going to be." She grinned, shaking her head. When he denied being a Cali boy, it made Eliza laugh. "Oh come on, you are too! It's not a bad thing. Well, it's mostly not a bad thing." She laughed again, still teasing him.

Harry rolled his eyes playfully at her and shook his head. "I don't know that you do, I can be a pretty intense judge. I have pretty high standards that need to be met if you are gonna score high, love," He joked with her, knowing that she would gorgeous as always. Harry took offence at being labelled a Cali boy, because it wasn't what you wanted to hear even if you were one. He laughed and nudged her shoulder. "Okay, stop teasing me, or I am going to worry." He said with a laugh, shaking his head and smiling. He looked sideways at the girl. "How've you been you though, really? I hate it when I have to go back home and leave you here, you know," He confided.

"Oh, that's so? Well, I scored high enough to be girlfriend material, I think. So meeting your standards for looking good in a swimsuit can't be all that hard." Eliza joked back, though a small portion of herself started to doubt the way she looked. She wondered if it was as cute as she thought it was, or if she was simply being conceited. "Then you stop teasing me about how I look in a swimsuit, dear," she told him, grinning. "I'm going to be doing this for a living, I can't have you shattering my confidence now." Eliza looked over at him as well, shrugging a bit. "Alright, I guess. Just literally bored beyond belief. And I've been trying to cope with my parents nagging over me going to LA with you. But fine for the most part. Soon enough you won't have to leave me anymore. It won't be too much longer, Harry."

Harry chuckled at her response, knowing she had knocked his rationale out of the park already. He pretended to frown and scowl at her, but grinned. "I suppose you have a point there," He admitted with a rueful nod. "But that's when you're fully clothed, not in a bikini." He replied with a cheeky grin. He was trying to make it as light hearted as possible, because he didn't want her to think he was serious. Harry knew how lucky he was to have such a good looking girlfriend. He smiled. "I'm sure you'll look great in it, because you'd probably look good in any rags." He told her. Harry nodded when she admitted her parents had been giving her trouble over their plans. "I guess they have good reason. They have no idea who I am." He said with a shrug. "But we'll show them and then they will come visit you and everything." He said, squeezing her hand.

"Okay, I guess that's true," she admitted, grinning. "But I'm sure you'll be impressed once we actually get down to the water." Elizabeth knew it was all just a joke, and while usually her self-confidence wouldn't be affected by that, it was just the tiniest bit, because it was Harry. She always tried her absolute hardest to impress him as much as she could. "Oh, no, rags don't look good on anyone, Harry, let alone me. I'll stick to swimsuits for now." She laughed, carrying on in her joking manner. Eliza did sigh a little once she started thinking of the subject of dealing with her parents. "I know. But if they did know you, I know they'd love you. It's just, the subject of your, um, talents might be past their limits of acceptance."

Harry laughed at her assurances that he'd be impressed once they reached the beach. He didn't doubt the girl's words at all. "Oh, don't worry I know. You don't have to tell me." He said with a grin. "I'm just impatient, you see," He added, knowing the beach wasn't that far away at all. The boy laughed as she insisted she'd rather have swimsuits than rags. "I must insist on disagreeing. You would look great in rags." He joked as they continued to walk. The sun was sending warm rays of sunshine that made Harry feel in a great mood.

He listened as she spoke about her parents and whether they would like him or not. He smiled, hoping that that would be the case eventually. He had to laugh at her awkward description of his magical ability. "Yeah, but I totally understand that." He said with a laugh. "Have you come to accept it yet?" He asked, knowing it must still be a little unbelievable for the girl. "Just think it's going to be a good thing for us. I can do stuff with magic you muggles have to do yourself." He said with a laugh.

She laughed as well, rolling her eyes. "It's not too much farther away, so you won't have to wait too long now." Eliza could practically hear the waves, or at least she told herself she could. "Well, if you say so. You are the judge after all," she replied, smirking slightly. It was an entirely perfect day to her; she had Harry, she was going to the beach, it was wonderfully sunny outside. It could hardly get any better.

Eliza thought about whether she really accepted the fact that Harry was a wizard. She was fine with him being magical, as that was just who he was. It was an ability that he had that she didn't, was all. Elizabeth just didn't fully understand it yet. She hoped with time it would all make more sense to her. "Yes, I think I have. I've gotten over the initial shock of it, definitely, and I think I'm mostly just curious about it now." At hearing the world muggle, she had to frown. She had already been told its meaning before, but it always took her a few moments to remember that who she was had a specific term to Harry. "Do you think... Once we have our apartment, I mean, you could show me more magic?"
