It had not been long since Lugus and his half-brother had been disowned from their positions are being Princes of the Amyntas Clan of Merfolk. However, to himself, Lugus will always be the Crown Prince, even if his parents to in fact replace him. He cared, but he tried to pretend not to, he wanted to be a big strong man, like his father. His father would have never cried about this, his father would have never done anything so foolish, but Lugus' last rest was at least to not cry. At the very least.

He was curled up with his tail tucked close to him, on the sunken ship Ventus had found about a year ago, his eyes were closed, and he hadn't woken up. He was getting weaker by the day, and that much was apparent, but he wasn't going to show it, he was going to remain as strong as he could be until the day he was dead. He knew that he was going to die, it was just a matter of time, and while he was terribly sad by this knowledge, he knew he had no way out of it. He slept, while the sun still did not touch penetrate the water and did not break the surface, and did not reach Lugus, to wake him up.

Re: The Seaweed is Always Greener

Postby Ventus » Wed Jul 11, 2012 6:06 pm

Ventus still had not gotten the time to comprehend what had happened to them in the last few days - their entire lives had been completely torn from them in a matter of moments, and neither of them knew what to do. Ventus had tried his best to be reassuring, but he was just as devastated as Lugus was. And as much as he wanted to be there for his 'younger' brother - as he so often was - he was too shattered by what had happened to be of much help to the other Merboy.

"Son of a trout!" Ventus swore under his breath when he sat down on his dorsal fin yet again - he really needed to get used to the fact that it was there and was not going anywhere. Curling up into a tiny little ball and hugging his tail close to his chest as he found a more comfortable position to sit, Ventus watched the quietly slumbering form of his Half-Brother with nervous concern - once again they had gone without food the day before, and Ventus didn't see where that was going to change anytime soon.

Re: The Seaweed is Always Greener

Postby Lugus » Wed Jul 11, 2012 6:13 pm

Lugus woke up a bit startled when his half brother shouted out a bit of a swear word, the young boy stared at the other youth in shock, but then realized he had simply sat down on a rather tender portion of his body, which Lugus wasn't going to tell him anything about that, after all, his dorsal fin had hurt when it grew in. Though, being from a royal family, and of purity, his body developed quicker, so that he may take over his role as king quicker, even though he was sure that would never happen, ever.

Lugus shook his head, and sighed as he lied back down, curling up. "You really shouldn't shout when I'm trying to sleep." The boy uttered, a bit grumpy from having been woken up in such a manner. He yawned softly, and looked around. "So... Think we can get some food..?" He asked.

Ventus frowned and rocked back and forth on the seat of his tail as he said "I'm sorry Lu, I sat on my stupid dorsal fin again...I swear I keep forgetting it's there!" It was hardly his fault - he'd lived for seven years without one, and it wwas surprising to suddenly have one there. He would get used to it sooner or later, but for now he was still adapting.

When Lugus turned the topic to food, Ventus frowned and replied quietly "I hope so." Why oh why had they cut on all those hunting lessons?

"Well then remember! I mean, I remember about it, just try to touch it now and again to kind of remind yourself of it?" Lugus suggested, though he was quite sure that sounded like a ridiculous idea, but he liked ridiculous ideas and therefore he voiced it.

"We were really stupid about not going to those lessons, huh..?" That whole entire lesson thing had really come to bite them in the dorsal fin, seeing now they had no good way of actually and truly hunting, and not that they were quite weak, well it wasn't helping that it was harder to catch anything that way.

Ventus giggled at the absurdity of Lugus' idea and agreed "I'll keep that in mind." though his merriment quickly subsided as he was reminded of their situation. "Yes well...I'm sure we'll think of something to do." Ventus mused quietly before suggesting with a disgusted face "If nothing else there's always seaweed?"

"Ugh! Seaweed? I'd rather die! For real..! You might as well have us eating coral! I mean we could... We .. could.." Lugus seemed to get a bright idea in this moment in time. "The corals.. The corals have a LOT of fish swimming around ALL the time, and the ones hidden under the corals, well they have no place to go... Maybe we can sharpen up some spears or something and.. and..." He looked excited and nodded over at Ventus.

Ventus resisted the urge to point out to Lugus that if he did not view that as an option he may very well die - knowing that pointing this out was not going to help matters. A few moments later though, the Merboy suggested that they go look through the corals for fish. Ventus, admittedly, was not quite as good an idea as Lugus did, but they didn't have a better alternative, and so he nodded and replied "Yeah, let's go."

Lugus nodded, and uncurled from his position, only to swim out of a broken window in the ship as he made his way towards the surface only to pop up about shoulder height. They were quite a distance from the shores as always, and it would take a bit of a swim to get there, but at least the outline of the shore was somewhat visible from here. "Alright..." Lugus smiled, and dived once more to swim.

Ventus stretched as he floated lightly upwards, extending his slim arms to the limit of their flexibility and wiggling his fingers as the tip of his tail swished back and forth through the water. Rolling his neck and wiggling his long pointy ears as he loosened up his stiff muscles - sleeping on the cold hard floor of a ship so many nights in a row without any food would do that to you. Upon being done, Ventus flipped his tail in a long powerful stroke that propelled him out of the ship before following quickly after Lugus. Ordinarily Ventus would be leading the way, as Lugus looked up to him as the - somewhat - older brother, but today Ventus wanted to make sure that Lugus did not collapse from exhaustion, and so he brought up the rear.

Lugus kept on going, quickly and while he knew he was tired and just about at his end, he kept on going that by some chance they might catch some yummy fish under the corals. And so he continued, until they were close enough to shore, where all the corals were. However, staying far away from the shore where people played. No need to get in trouble, and so he began searching, looking everywhere. "Come on! Help me out!" He shouted at Ventus.

Ventus gave one more quick burst of speed to catch up with Lugus as the other Merboy came to a stop, grabbing a small sharp rock off of the sand below and saying "Well here's a good spear-tip. You see a good-sized object we could use as a shaft anywhere around here?"

Lugus looked around found a stick floating just above them, he broke surface with his hand only to grab it and bring it down to Ventus. "Here we go, we can tie it to this.." He nodded, smiling weakly, they needed to get some food into them soon or else they would both fall unconscious, and Lugus knew he was getting there slowly.

"Awesome." Ventus said, plucking a few strands of seaweed from the ocean floor in order to tie the sharpened rock around the end of the stick and testing it against the side of his tail to make sure it was sturdy enough to wield. "Okay, we've got a weapon." Ventus said, "Now let's go find something to kill."

Lugus nodded, "Alright.." He agreed and once more floated upwards, so that his dorsal fin may pop up and out of the water, so that he could skim over everything at a quicker and easier rate. He started looking, spotting a few colorful fish, he pointed to them. "There.." He whispered, thought he fish didn't react was much as they just swam on and on.

"Yes I see." Ventus said quietly, adjusting his grip on the spear slowly. "Okay, here's what we're going to do. You swim around and make a whole lotta racket on the other side. They'll try to get away from you and swim straight into me!" That seemed like a good plan to Ventus - after all they were going to need every advantage they could in order to get enough food to survive.

Lugus nodded, "Alright," And he swam carefully over to the fish and swam around them, and quickly dashed over to the other side with one powerful push of his tail, and then quickly began making a racket, he started splashing about with his tail, and not only this, but also sending a strong current at the fish with it.

Ventus waited with bated breath, staring straight ahead as Lugus powered through the water and send scores of fish streaming towards him in abject terror. Many were already beginning to bank around him, and yet Ventus did not move. He waited and waited until the densest of the cluster was before him, and with as powerful a jerk of his arms as he could, sent the spear straight through three fish.

At first Ventus was elated, and he shouted out to his brother "Hey, I got some!" but only then did he realize just how small the fish were. The whole school had been made up of a small breed of fish, and the ones stuck on his spear tip would not make for much of a meal.

Lugus looked very excited when his brother had got some fish, and he swam up to him only to see some very small dieing fish. He sighed, but at least it was something. He grabbed one fish and threw it into his mouth, and then waited for Ventus to eat his fish, before grabbing the third, and splitting it in half. "..There we go.."

Ventus eagerly ripped his teeth into one of the tiny fish that they had caught, smiling quietly at the taste - which seemed to be absolutely incredible since it had been so long since he had eaten - it was just a pity that he didn't have more. When Lugus split the third fish down the middle though, Ventus shook his head and said "Nah I'm okay, you can have that one." As hungry as Ventus was, he couldn't bear to see his 'baby' brother hungry.

"I'm gonna go check out the surface - see if there's anything of use floating around." Ventus said, popping his head up above the water before Lugus could protest or try to force him to eat part of the third fish. As he broke through the surface of the water, Ventus shook the water from his hair and sighed - they needed a plan, or they would both be goners for sure.

Re: The Seaweed is Always Greener

Postby Judas Strong » Fri Jul 13, 2012 8:42 pm

Judas had been forced to have a fun little vacation with his father, apparently, it was too dangerous in England at this moment in time and so the family or rather the two younger men of the family had moved over to Crete Greece, to vacation. The beaches were perfect, and everything was rather beautiful. So perhaps it wasn't that Jude was forced, but eagerly went along with it all.

He was currently in nothing but a pair of swim trunks, splashing about in the water, having a bit of fun while his father sat in a lounging chair on the shore, having a drink and staring at the sky with a pair of sunglasses on, getting a nice tan. Jude would certainly have to tell his friends about all of this. Especially Noah, who would be terribly jealous he was sure of it.

He was looking at a bit of coral, just when he noticed up ahead a young boy pop out of the water, and Jude tilted his head, the youth seemed lost, or at least he did to him. Then suddenly a sharp like dorsal broke water and Jude practically screamed in terror. "D-Dad!!" He shouted, and turned immediately to run for his father. "That boy! Over there! There is a shark around him!" He cried.

Lugus was just unhappy that Ventus was making him eat the rest of the fish, but before he could even say anything, he was being told to eat it and Ventus was breaking the surface. Sighing, he ate the fish reluctantly and proceeded to float around the top of the water, simply looking around.

Ventus blinked when he heard a voice shouting from behind him, and spun around to see that they were in fact quite close to the shoreline. Even more interesting, there seemed to be two-legs-round-ears there. Ventus was not sure how to react, as he was not sure whether or not these were the sorts of two-legss that he was allowed to speak to, and instead he just floated there rather oddly - too exhausted to make a decision.

Benjamin had to interrupt his sleep, or rather nap in the sun when his son came screaming and yelling to him. He grumbled something along the lines of not getting any sleep ever during the summer, and then lifted his sunglasses up to look at the boy. Listening to him, he then looked over to the waters to notice exactly what his boy was talking about.

"Uh-oh.." He grabbed out his wand that was slipped in between his swimming trousers and body, and quickly ran towards the water.

Unfortunately for Ventus, events were continuing apace and forcing him to make a decision quite rapidly, as the bigger of the two-legs was racing towards him in a flurry of awkward limbs. He did have one of those lightning-sticks in his hand, and so Ventus knew that revealing himself to them would not be bad persay, but after how his most recent encounter with the two-legs had gone he was not so sure if he wanted to speak to any anytime soon.

Patting his brother on the back, Ventus stuck his head briefly into the water and said "Hey Lu, check this out!" before resurfacing.
