A Coming Out Party [2006]

Zachary sighed and looked down nodding a bit. "I suppose you're right, but I'll have to wait... I really don't feel comfortable telling them quite yet, it took months just to build up the courage to tell you.." He admitted, feeling a bit foolish as the reaction he had received was much better than he had expected.

Christian nodded and replied "Yeah, I know Zach - take your time with it." Christian could not even begin to understand the kind of pressure that was on Zachary for so many reasons, and he felt bad for his brother and wished that there was something to do to help him. "If you need me Zach, for anything, you know I'm always here for you." Christian said, doing his best to give Zach a reassuring smile.

Zachary smiled and nodded once again, "Thanks Christian. What am I supposed to do without you?" His smile turned into a grin, and he was much more reassured now, he felt better. Nowhere near as nervous. He took a deep breath, and sighed in great relief. And then as a joke, "I'll tell you about all of my boyfriends." He chuckled, poking at his brother in the chest then.

Christian laughed when Zachary asked what he was supposed to do without him and replied "Well I suppose you'd be quite out of luck then wouldn't you?" a comment which Christian of course intended quite humorously. When his brother then joked that he would tell Christian about all of his boyfriends, Christian raised an eyebrow and asked "And is there one now?"

At the raised eyebrow and question, Zachary shook his head furiously as if it was some sort of taboo thing. "Absolutely not! I-I've been too busy with father running my like I'm cattle, or.. I don't know something.." Zach sighed, he had been rather exhausted as of late, father being not the most considerate man on this planet.

Christian laughed and replied "Well then, if you're not against being set up by your big brother, I know a guy who swings that way - really nice guy, you'd probably get on great." He shrugged and added "I mean, I don't know what your taste is exactly, but it could be worth a try if you're up for it."

Zachary smiled when his brother was up and eager on setting him up. "Well I mean, I wouldn't know if he's my type or not, until I meet him?" He shrugged a bit, and then looked around, there was nobody outside, which was nice. At least he thought so. "So, yeah.. I -I suppose I can meet him.."

Christian smiled and replied "Well good then! I'll set something up for you too." He was glad to be able to help his brother out, and he looked around them for a moment before saying "You've got to come see Jordan again soon! You will not believe how big he's gotten!" Christian was still rather new to this whole being a dad thing, but he was loving the opportunities to show off his beautiful baby boy.

Zachary smiled when his brother said that he would be set up with someone, that would be fun. Then he started to talk about his baby boy, and Zach laughed and nodded. "Alright, I'll come by and see him sometime. I'm sure he's really cute." Zach was more than happy to do that for his brother.

Zach had made a big mistake, as Christian was liable to go on all day now, and he pulled a picture out of his pocket and said "Oh he so is! Look at him!" holding out the picture for Zachary to see. He'd only had his son for six months, but Christian was already your stereotypical doting father.

Zachary couldn't help but shake his head at Christian he was so funny as a father. Looking onto the picture he smiled at the young six month old. "He's very cute, Christian. You're becoming one of those stereotypical fathers that never shuts up about their children." Zach grinned mockingly.

"I know he is, isn't he?" Christian asked with a smile, looking at the picture one more time before putting it back in his pocket. When Zachary told him that he was becoming one of those dads that never shut up about their kids, Christian replied rather pointlessly "I am not!" though it was obvious that he was.

"No. You are." He grinned, and patted his brother on the shoulder, "But there is nothing wrong with that, just makes you a better dad, so I don't see how that's completely a bad thing, though it is very funny." Zach couldn't help but make fun of his older brother in a way.

Christian shrugged and replied "Yeah well, I just hope that I learned a few things of what not to do from dad...not that he didn't do a few things right by us I suppose." One thing that had always bothered Christian was the fact that his father had never uttered the words 'I love you' to any of his children - three words which Christian was sure to tell his son each and every day, even if he wasn't yet old enough to understand him.

Zachary shrugged, "We didn't turn out too bad.. So I think he did quite a few things right, we turned out to be hard working and good people who are helpful to the magical community, that's how I see it. "Remember not to spoil your baby too much..."

Christian nodded and replied "Like I said, I'm not knocking dad or anything - but look at this for example. If my son is gay I don't want him to be afraid to tell me! I want him to know that I love him, and to know that nothing can ever change that fact!" Perhaps Christian was still harboring a bit of bitterness about what had happened to him all those years ago, but this seemed like a very normal thing to want to him.

"Right, that makes sense.. But, your son and anyone is going to be scared to tell their parents that they are.... gay or lesbian or... anything like that.." The boy reasoned a bit, wanting to explain this to Christian. "You might react better, but they'll still be pretty scared, ya know?"

"Well sure they might." Christian replied, "But it's not going to be like this. They're not going to be afraid of me. Look at how screwed up Nick still is about talking to dad about anything! I don't want it to be like that for my kids Zach, if I can't give Jordan better then I don't deserve to be a father at all."

Zachary nodded, "Hey I understand completely, I was just saying. no reason to tell me that you shouldn't be a father. I think you're already a great dad, just keep doing what you've been doing, and make sure not to spoil him too much." Zach grinned.

Christian nodded quietly and replied "Yeah, I'll be sure not to." There was a lot more to all of this than he had thought, and Christian exhaled for a long time before finally saying "I'm not gonna lie - I thought it would be a lot easier than this...all of it." After all, what with everything he had been through he had thought parenting would be an open book - not so much.

"Well you have a lot of parenting ahead of you, seeing as he's like six months old and can't do much quite yet." Zachary grinned, "So, I suppose it'll get easier with time, though I suppose the first kid is always the hardest, huh?" Zach tried to assure his older brother in his success.

"Hopefully." Christian replied, unable to imagine himself with another kid - one was hard enough! Just imagining raising three or four was enough to make him want to lose his mind! No, one was more than enough for now - and he did not foresee that changing anytime soon!

Zach nodded and let out a sigh, "Well.. I think, it would be fair enough to say, that..." He looked around and then with a pat on his brothers shoulder, "So... I think I should be going, dad will be expecting me.. I just somehow got him to give me a break, so I came here to tell you this... He might go crazy if I don't come back soon.." Zach grinned.

Christian smirked at Zachary's words and patted him on the back before saying "Okay, thanks for trusting me Zach - that really means a lot." Christian had a feeling that Zachary had not had this conversation too many times before - or maybe never at all before today - and it made him happy to know that his brother trusted him so much.

Zachary nodded, "Yeah, for sure.." And with that he turned and start to walk off, there was absolutely no reason to stay for much longer, he had talked to his brother about what he wanted to, and now it was time to get back to his father before the man blew him up.
