Down with Umbridge

Postby Random Event » Mon Feb 06, 2012 11:19 am

Inside the professor's lounge was a total disaster. Papers were strewn across the floor and copies of the defense textbook for the year were torn to shreds and lying about. Green gunk dripped from the ceiling and coated the walls along with pictures of the defense professor with a large red 'X' across her face. The wall straight across from the door stood out the most because it read in huge letters 'DOWN WITH UMBRIDGE!' and 'GET OUT OF OUR SCHOOL!'

Re: Down with Umbridge

Postby Archibald Harris » Mon Feb 06, 2012 4:46 pm

Well that was certainly a sight to see thought Professor Harris as he opened the door to the Professor's lounge, admittedly he already knew something wasn't quite right as the door had already been left open and no professor would dare leave it open. He stood on the threshold of the door and calmly took the scene in, there was so much to see that Archibald wanted to take a moment to take it all in. In case he missed any little detail...

It was creative if not crudely executed. His hand reaching up to tap his chin as he looked from the large letters on the wall to the green glutinous stuff that seemed to be dripping from anything that had a surface, which was pretty much everything at that point. A big fat drop fell past his eyes and landed on the floor with a splat, his eyes naturally followed it on its path to see a small globule land on the tip of his perfectly polished, black brogues. Well that was uncalled for.

Re: Down with Umbridge

Postby Florence Kettlewick » Fri Mar 09, 2012 9:27 am

Florence merely snickered from the portrait she was currently occupying. The painting was one of some important figurehead of education or other, not that the woman cared all that much at the present moment. What she did care about was the massive wreck that had become the staff room. It was great, in her opinion, right down to the 'X's on the pictures of the Pink Toad's face. She only wished that it would have been Umbridge who walked in to see it first, and not another professor.

"Interesting, isn't it, Archy?" Florence asked gleefully as she leaned against the edge of a table in the painting. "Someone certainly made their opinion known."

Professor Harris looked up from glancing down at his shoe to look to the owner of the voice; there his eyes came to settle on a portrait. Professor Harris had somewhat of a love hate relationship with the paintings finding some of them rude, others obnoxious and the rest he didn’t really have opinion on, though there was a previous Arithmancy professor who stopped by his office and they had mini debates.

“It’s Archibald or Professor Harris, Ms Kettlewick” he said, reprimanding her over the rather shortened version of his name. He bent down to remove the goo from his shoe, using his handkerchief, “it’s certainly very expressive.”

Re: Down with Umbridge

Postby Benjamin Strong » Fri Mar 09, 2012 4:46 pm

There were a few essays that had been sitting in the corner of his office desk for quite sometime now, begging to be graded. So this wonderful morning he had scooped up the parchments off of his desk, brewed himself a cup of tea and proceeded to make his way towards the Lounge. It would be lovely to just sit there and relax. Though as he walked in, he tilted his head. This was certainly the sight to see... Though the more he looked the more he realized that this was a marvelous thing, and he couldn't help a smile and a chuckle.

Walking up towards the other Professor in the room, "Ah, this looks marvelous." He purred, marveling at the sight of green goo and red X across the toads face. "Now I am just curious who did this.." He was still carrying all the parchments and his cup of tea. Though soon enough a glob of green goo plopped right into his cup, and he looked in looking irritated. "...But perhaps..." There was a bit of an irritation in his voice now, "Ignorance is bliss."

Professor Snape stops inside the arch of the door. "What in Merlin's beard?!" however, he isn't at all even remotely surprised. He rolls his eyes, and sighs. He wonders why any student would have picked this room to vandalize, because Umbridge does not often show her face here. He only hopes that Slytherin is not to blame; but he truly knows he ought not bet on it. He scowls.

He bears his wand and stands ready to use magic to remove the mess, then suddenly recoils. "The witch will probably would come running to this very spot if we clean this up using magic. But you know it will be high holy hell for all of us, students and their responsible Professors as well, if we walk away from this and she sees it." He eyes the message on the wall originally at his back. "I suggest we make a quick unified go of it."

"Oh boo hoo, Harris, get over it," Florence mumbled, her face adopting a stern and offended look. She continued to grumble things under her breath about her being entitled to calling whoever she wanted whatever she wanted. The woman did not, however, let the complaints be heard, for while she took a secret pleasure in bothering the Professor, she also did not need him upset with her. "What's in a name and all that good stuff."

Flo watched as the other professors came in and took in the sight. To her, it only made it all the more entertaining. Their faces and responses were priceless. "I think it's quite obvious who did this, to be frank." While she wasn't in the room during the incident, Florence would easily be able to figure out who had done it. Being a portrait had several bright upsides, one of them being the chance to hear all of the best gossip of the castle. The painting of the witch heard Professor Snape mention removing the expression of their disapproval, Florence looked shocked. She spoke sarcastically to the group, not caring whether her opinion was wanted or not. "Get rid of it? But why? Surely the High Inquisitor herself would deem this a greatly important thing for her to be aware of, so why not simply leave it here for her to find?"

"I don't think that would be a good idea," Philip Vickers responded to what the portrait was saying. He had arrived at the Professor's Lounge expecting a quiet time and maybe a chat with a collegue, he had definitely not been expecting this. There had been more cases of vandalism around the school recently, but he hadn't expected the Professor's Lounge to be a target. Some green goo dropped onto his shoulder, and he looked rather annoyed.

Archibald pushed himself up off the floor, his dirtied handkerchief was consigned to his robe pocket to be dealt with later. Well it was certainly that time of day when Professor's from across the school began to descend on the lounge, one of the reasons why he didn't often venture to it.

His eyes flicked over the faces, Strong, Snape and Vickers, avoiding for the moment looking to the portrait who had now gone into his paintings I wouldn't mind burning list.

"Well it can hardly stay like this, and what difference does it make. She may as well blame any student, before singling out the right culprit. And I'd frankly much rather have a lounge that I can actually sit in, rather than stick to."

Re: Down with Umbridge

Benjamin stood back and let the other Professors talk, he was usually one to take the initiative with things, but he felt that it would be best that he stood back for this and just hitched the back seat for a rather bumpy ride. Seeing as he didn't see the reason as to why he should at all interfere, he had at least some sense. However little it was in his oddly structured brain thoughts.

His thoughts racing, he actually had to close his eyes and clear his mind for a moment. There was too much visually to take in. What if a Professor had done this, it was very possible, he knew that few if any Professor actually liked Umbridge and Strong was quite confident that if you were in any mental stability you would hate Umbridge. She was a toad, though Benjamin never said that outloud.

Professor Snape looks at the portrait, "Well? Who did it then?" hoping she will spill the beans. His own accusations move away from Slytherin students. He knows that Umbridge is messing with the mindset of his protégé's. Turning them away from REAL serious learning, and into dunderhead bullies, liken to the historical common gryffindor student.

He certainly hopes that the portrait won't run away and go inform Umbridge of the condition of the room. "You tell Pinky about this, and I will give your likeness a lasting gash, burn the locks of your curly hair clean out of the canvass," he threatens.

Re: Down with Umbridge

Postby Florence Kettlewick » Sun Mar 11, 2012 10:31 am

Florence gasped, taken aback and highly offended by the Potion master's blunt, mean words. "How dare you- If I were- You best- Agh!" She spluttered, so frustrated and upset that she couldn't form a single coherent sentence. The curly-haired woman stared daggers at Snape, then shifted her gaze to the rest of the professors. "Why in Merlin's name would I ever, ever go to Umbridge, for anything? Do you think I want to hear her shouting her head off? Blimey, she'd probably blame the whole thing on me, with what little brains she possesses!"

Florence's voice was escalating, as it often did when she was upset. She didn't care who heard her, she was only concerned with getting her opinion out in the open. Of course, Umbridge could have been right behind the Staff Room door at that very moment, and Florence would have neither known nor cared. The portrait lifted her chin, puffed out her chest, and looked back at Professor Snape.

"Why would I tell you anything about who the culprit is, when you immediately threaten me with such dire violence? I have only two words for you, sir- How rude." With that, Florence exited the side of her frame, though she didn't completely leave. She would stay there and listen to their conversation. Part of her hoped they might also call her back and apologize, but she doubted it.

"She's a painting Vickers, there not meant to be any more useful than passing the odd message or opening passageway entrances, and even then you run the risk of them getting it wrong..." his eyes fixed onto the now empty frame and looked grumply at those present.

"Now I though the faculty was meant to be a united front, instead we are bickering, lets just get this room back in order, I for one have no intention of sitting in...in whatever it is daubed everywhere. I assure you it will make no difference to Umbridge as side from making our lives further more difficult." With that the Arithmancy professor extracted his wand.

Benjamin raised an eyebrow, not everyone was bickering. For once, Ben had been completely silent and that was usually a challenge all on its own. "You will excuse me, but I have yet to say a word on this..." He waved his hand around, showing the room more than anything, "On this mess." Though he did put everything he was holding down to take out his wand, holding it delicately. Umbridge was one to make problems for everyone if she found out about this, so cleaning it and getting it over with was a much more pleasant idea than her finding this.

"..Together, as a team.." He spoke, giving every staff member in the room a bright smile.

Re: Down with Umbridge

Postby Severus Snape » Tue Mar 13, 2012 10:25 pm

Sometimes pictures gave away a hint or two about strange occurrences, such as the dormitory entrance portraits which serve true purpose, and some portraits just mostly hang amidst the shadows, their service limited to whatever they perceive their surroundings to be. As the portrait was of no help, Severus purses his lips in disappointment. He truly did hope that he would find out who is to blame, or at least if he could transfer the blame upon a student who he would simply LOVE to blame for it.

"As fast as possible because she may pick up on us, and come running this way." Severus raises his wand and waits for the others to ready themselves. He mentally decides that the writing ought be his first focus, and turns to face it.

Philip ignored Archibald's comment about the portrait, instead he looked around the room again, observing the damage. Whoever did this had done a good job of it, even though it was an extremely risky thing.

Professor McGonagall marched into the room, expecting to have a small chat with professor Snape, on certain gross indicipline exhibited by his students in her class, when she suddenly noticed the whole mess. Her eyes focussed on most professors standing there outright, and deciding what to do so. She said "Merlin' beard! Do anyone here think we shouldnt clean this thing up?"

Ofcourse, it was something for Umbridge to note herself however if she sees the mess, most of all would land in trouble. she was dissappointed at the prospect of having a gryffindor bl;amed for the trouble, but for now, she had no means to detect the imposter, all she could do was to make the life of their lot, easy, especially when umbrdige is around.

Archibald resisted pinching the top of his nose out of general annoyance, mainly at himself for using the word 'united' so flippantly, it just sounded so contrived when said by someone other than the Headmaster, especially lately. With his wand in hand, like the other professors he set about tidying up the mess. In some way's it was oddly satisfying clearing it away, especially as everyone seemed to be focusing on an area each. There was something to tell Perdita about......

Benjamin went about cleaning the greenish globs at the ceiling and around the room. For once it seemed like maybe all the staff were on one team instead of split up. Which it certainly seemed that way in certain moments of time where Benjamin had thought that the staff were only there tolerating each other at bare minimum. He really enjoyed the idea of working together as a team instead of a split force.

He was smiling going about his work, though a strange thing to smile about, though Benjamin enjoyed doing something always, working, playing didn't matter as long as he was doing something. Though without much reason behind his thoughts he was waiting for Umbridge to burst in any moment to catch them all and cut them off from the work they were doing. Truly an annoyance.

As Severus tackles the writing on the wall, he notices that the words seem to be stained into the original paint of the room. He sighs at the realization, lowering his wand for a brief moment. "Blast it!"

He continues his attempt for the time being, to at least remove as much as he is able at first. Next to make an attempt with a different spell.

Professor Vickers was slowly but steadily clearing away his corner of green gloop, when suddenly something fell to the ground, landing near his foot. He picked it up, to inspect it.

"What do you think this is?" Phil asked his collegues, holding up the badge. "It seems to be a badge with some sort of bird on it." Unless it belonged to one of the Professors, the person who did this could have left it here.

Professor Harris' mother evidently would have been somewhat proud at her son's handy work. Yet, Archibald was never one for shying away from household style chores, although his own home back in Godric's suffered at his lack of gardening know how.

He lowered his wand briefly and glanced to Philip, his eyes flicking to the badge or whatever it was in the man's hand, "I couldn't say, but then without jumping to conclusions doesn't it look a little like a Raven?" although he couldn't be certain without looking closer, he moved over to Philip and inspected it a little closer, "crudely done too."

Re: Down with Umbridge

Postby Rubriventer Nimblechook » Sat Mar 24, 2012 10:45 pm

Rubriventer had just began teaching at Hogwarts, still giddy with excitement for her new beginnings here at the school she once studied at herself, she danced over to the teacher's lounge, expecting a quiet, restful area where she could sit down and release some of the extra energy she had been harbouring since the morning. She found the door already open, surprisingly, so she twirled in, her smile falling into an expression of shock as she realised that the place was nothing like she had expected...it was a complete mess!!

"My oh my what has happened here! I certainly hope this is none of your doing" she said eyeing the rooms other occupants "because if it is, you are all a bunch of slobs!" She looked around the room, eyes taking in all of the globs of goop and markings...'Down with Umbrige?', 'X's were painted across the face of that toadly woman; she giggled. "With wonderful senses of humour!" she said, smiling again and clasping her hands together in delight. How she hated Umbrige - hated her with a fiery passion that she never knew she was capable of having. How dare she try to take over Hogwarts with her restrictive rules and her pink-ness...sure pink-ness was probably not an actual word but it was the only one she could think to describe Umbridge's obsession with the colour! In fact, Rubriventer had actually been quite fond of it up until that insufferable imp ruined it for her...

"Nevertheless we should clean it up...oh" she said, raising her eyebrows in realisation and pursing her lips "Thats what you were doing, wasn't it? Well, I'm sorry for interrupting, but I will lend my assistance!" She said, smiling once more and gracefully retrieving her wand. After a moment, the badge on the floor caught her attention "hmmm..now whats that then? Belong to any of you?" She questioned, leaning slightly forward to get a closer look.
