It wasn't often that a new auror like Nicasia was called into the Minister's office. Actually, it never happened. Usually just the head Auror would come and speak to Nicasia, relaying messages. To be quiet honest, Nicasia didn't even think the Minister knew she existed! It's not like she was on the radar or anything. She never caught wizards or witches in showy displays like some aurors. She didn't have the brute strength, the charming good looks or charisma that all the others had. She was just...plain. Plain Nicasia with nothing special about her. So, as the blond walked down the corridors to the Minister's office, she suddenly became extremely self conscious. What could the Minister possibly want her for? She wasn't the greatest auror this ministry had seen. Sure, she was good at tracking people. But nothing else.

The notice had arrived early that afternoon in the fashion of the enchanted paper airplanes. It was on the Minister's stationary and her eyes had grown wide at the sight. Upon reading it, Nicasia had to sit in her chair. The letter said that he had a "special assignment" for her. What could it possibly be? Maybe he needed someone to track a Death Eater or something such as that. Nicasia took a deep breath as she neared his door. "Keep calm, Boteva. There's nothing wrong. You're not in trouble. He just wants you to do a task for him, that's all. No big deal." she mumbled quietly to herself. Brushing a strand of her blonde hair out of her green eyes, she lifted her hand and knocked on his door.

Petya found it rather sad that he was so often called to his dad's office for things. Most of the time it was because the man wanted to try and "talk some sense in him because he didn't need to be goofing off so much and needed to focus and grow up" and blah, blah, blah. That was around the time he always tuned out. So when he received a letter from his father he didn't think twice about it. He opened it long enough to let his eyes skim over it, a little surprised to read that it wasn't for the usual meeting to scold him for being himself. Now his curiosity had been peaked. Petya slowly made his way to the minister's office.

When he got in sight of the door the man was surprised to see a woman standing outside it. He got a little closer and he could hear her muttering to herself. A smirk spread over his face as he stuck his hands in the pockets of his jeans and stopped right behind her. He leaned down next to her ear and whispered, "what are you so worried about?" He never passed up a chance to mess with the women when he came across them, no matter who they were...unless they were really old or really young. He did have limits after all.

Nicasia wasn't aware of the sound of approaching footsteps behind her as she waited for the door to be opened. When that voice began, low and soft in her ear, she jumped, hand flying over her mouth to stifle a small yelp of surprise. Her face flooded with color and the blonde turned around and, admittedly, had to look up to see whom it had been that snuck up on her. Her heart had been racing from the sudden shock and she let out a small sigh of relief that it wasn't the Minister or someone....important. "You..really shouldn't sneak up on people like that. I-it's not necessarily polite." Nicasia said softly, her voice a little shaken as she stammered.

Her green eyes flitted away from the man's attractive and taunting features, cheeks hot from embarrassment. The auror crossed her arms just under her bust as she looked down at her feet, then back up to him, slightly timid. She had never been a people person. "I..well. It's not everyday someone like me gets summoned to the Minister's office. Why shouldn't I be worried?" answered Nicasia, ending with her own question and a raised eyebrow. She turned to look back at the door, wondering what was taking so long.

Postby Lichtendahl Klein » Fri May 25, 2012 10:48 am

Lichtendhal couldn't say he was having a good morning. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst. He had received yet another memo alerting him that his son was off misbehaving once more in another department. Most of the department heads knew that Lichty liked to keep close tabs on his son and so were quick to alert him when his son did something wrong. So when a senior Auror recommended a young Auror that might rub off on Petya, the Minister was quite glad for the advice. He did, of course, look into the girl's record and was quite impressed. It was probably why he sent her the memo right away, also sending a memo to his troublesome son that he was needed for an "assignment".

He was having a conversation with his undersecretaries and advisor when he heard the soft knock on his door. Everyone quieted and he could actually hear the stiffled yelp, causing a frown to appear. What was his son up to now? "I believe my next appointment is here." He turned to his undersecretaries and advisor before wandering over to the door. "If you can't learn to behave yourself, I'll really consider disciplinary actions." He stared right at his son. He gaze softened at the sight of Nicasia. "You must be Miss Nicasia Boteva. Please, come in." He stepped aside to let the young Auror and his son into the room. "Behave yourself, Petya." He warned his son. The undersecretaries would cast a worried glance between the Auror and the Minister's son before practically rushing out of the run. His advisor, on the other hand, was trying not to laugh while he strolled out of the room, closing the door and letting the three of them be alone.

"You have quite a good record, Miss Boteva. I was reading your reports." Lichty returned back to his seat and sat down. He motioned for the younger two to take the seats across from his desk. "Please, sit."

Nicasia looked up at the taller man as he answered the door and addressed his son. Nicasia mentally slapped herself for not realizing that this was Petya Klein who had startled her. The charming good looks, the charisma, the flirtatiousness. And if it wasn't that, it should have been his striking resemblance to his father that gave his parentage away. Again, Nicasia slapped herself mentally. Pay attention, Cas. she mentally reminded herself as she gave a small nod, acknowledging her acknowledgement. Quietly she shuffled past Lichtendahl and into the office before Petya did. Her green eyes looked up at the undersecretaries. Their worried looks only heightened Nicasia's uneasiness. Her stomach felt light, giving her an unfocused feeling as she watched the undersecretaries hurry out of the office. But at the sight of the advisor chuckling as he exited, she relaxed some, letting out a light breath.

When Lichtendahl addressed her records and reports she gave a small, polite nod of her head. "Thank you, sir. I try to be as thorough as I can." she said in an even quieter voice. The nervousness or lack thereof that Nicasia felt always determined the volume of her voice. And she was very nervous. When he motioned for them to take a seat, Nicasia walked around the chair that sat to the left and sat down, crossing her legs and resting her folded hands in her lap. Her heart was beating a mile a minute and she breathed softly, biting her lower lip with nerves.

Petya chucked softly at the woman's reaction as he stood back up. "I didn't sneak up on you," he pointed out, "you must not have been paying attention to your surroundings. That can be dangerous." If he had wanted to sneak up on the girl then she would have been a bit more startled then him just walking up and speaking in her ear. He raised an eyebrow when she explained what had her nervous and shook his head. "If you haven't done anything wrong then there's no reason to worry," he assured her. Petya was well aware of some of the other people who got called to his dad's office and this girl didn't look like one of those people. She looked a bit like the average worker who wouldn't stand out to anyone else.

When his dad came to the door and started speaking the man frowned. "I didn't do anything wrong," he said, which was his usual response anytime he was called to his dad's office, "I apparently just startled her." Honestly! Why did his dad always think he'd done something wrong? He was just trying to have fun and here the man was telling him that he needed to behave and such. He filed the woman's name away for later when he wasn't in his dad's office and just rolled his eyes when he was told to behave. What was he? Five? "Yes father," he muttered as he entered the room behind Nicasia. He caught sight of the looks the undersecretaries were casting between him and the woman and raised an eyebrow at them, but said nothing. As the advisor was walking out, trying to keep from laughing, Petya grinned. He always knew the man found his actions entertaining.

Once given the motion to sit down the twenty-five year old plopped down in the seat next to Nicasia and looked at his dad. "So what's this assignment that you've called me here for?" he asked the man as straightened in his seat to look a little more professional.

Lichty wanted to sigh. There were just so many times in which his son was forever creating trouble. He honestly wondered if there ever was a time in which his eldest son was behaving himself. He had always wanted to move his son into his office to one day inspire him to be the next Minister. But his dreams were shattered long ago. His next best bet was one of his other many children taking over for him when he decides to retire. The boy before him wasn't fit to take over a role of responsibility.

"And it shows." He replied to tyhe young Auror before his son asked a question. "This is more a mission for young Miss Boteva. I know that you are very good at what you do. You are the complete opposite of my son." He looked from Nicasia to Petya. "I need errands run by someone responsible, but you can not do it alone." But it wasn't like these were ordinary errands.

Nicasia rolled her eyes as Petya told her she should have ben paying attention to her surroundings. That had absolutely nothing to do with it. If anything, Nicasia shouldn't have to be aware of her surroundings in the Ministry. It was safe, after all. It bothered Nicasia how much Petya didn't really care. He seemed like an angsty teenager who was just determined to undermine his parents, even if what they wanted for him was better than what he thought it would end up being. Nicasia would never act like that towards her parents, being that she would always do whatever was asked of her by her parents. She softly sighed, knowing that he would be continuously disobedient, no matter what anyone else said.

The blonde raised her eyebrow when Petya assumed that the mission was only for himself. Um, why else would Nicasia be sitting in the room? She shook her head at his self-absorbed behavior. She smiled thankfully as he complimented her, and when he mentioned her complete oppositeness, she glanced over at Petya and gave a small shrug before looking back at the Minister. "Are you saying that you would like for Petya and I to work together?" she asked curiously as she pieced together what he was saying. "What is this errand, exactly?" she questioned softly.

Re: An Unexpected Assignment [Bulgarian Ministry]

Of course there were times that Petya behaved himself, most of them just happened to not be around the ministry or anywhere else that his dad might have access to. Plus it didn't seem to be that big of a deal. He got his work done and he got it done well. Just because he didn't walk around in robes and being all serious and stuck up and boring didn't mean that he didn't behave or something. It was probably for the best though, that his father wasn't trying to shove the responsibility of minster on Petya's shoulders. The man didn't want it and if it was given to him he would probably make a mess out of it. Not because he couldn't handle the responsibility like his father thought, but because he didn't want it.

As the conversation between the ministry and this Auror woman continued Petya started wishing that he was anywhere but here. Had his dad just called him here to put him down in front of some girl he didn't even know? If that was the case he could have just left Petya alone. When his dad made the comment about the Auror being good at her job and how she was the complete opposite of him Petya's eyes narrowed. Was his father implying that he wasn't good at his job? He wasn't sure why this would surprise him in the least. After all he wasn't the "perfect" son his father wanted or anything.

He didn't bother to say anything when his dad continued on about the errands he needed done. If he wanted them done them made he should go do them instead of pushing them off onto some Auror. Well some Auror and him. At the woman's question Petya's eyes widened. He didn't want to work with this woman! His dad couldn't possibly have that thought in his mind. As much as Petya liked flirting with women and all he'd already decided he didn't like messing with the one next to him. She didn't react the way she was supposed to.

Lichty was quiet as he let the two think about what was going on. He knew they were both smart individuals and would figure things out. And he wasn't surprised when Nicasia hit the nail on the head. "Yes. I am saying that I would like you and my son to work together. There will be no ifs, ands, or buts," he glanced at Petya as he said those words. He wasn't about to accept his son from objecting to what needed to be done.

Then there was the matter of what they would be doing. "I need something of high important brought to the British Ministry of Magic." He stared at the two. "Petya, as field agent in Magical Cooperation, this is right up your job assignments." He spoke directly to his son. "And, I want you to accompany him, make sure he gets this done without getting sidetracked, and supply security." He focused on Nicasia as he said the words. This matter was urgent, but he didn't want it sent by owl because there was a chance of mail getting intercepted.

Nicasia knew from the way that the minister looked pointedly at Petya that he would not be a happy camper. Instantly she felt like shrinking back into her seat and just becoming completely invisible. She didn't want Petya to begin hating her just because of the fact that Lichtendahl didn't trust him to be completely responsible and focused. It wasn't her fault he was a charming ladies man who payed more attention to women than he did with his job. She wondered what it was that needed to be transfered between the two ministries that it couldn't just be sent by owl. This made her very curious but she knew better than to ask questions.

Her eyes widened in surprise when he said what he wanted her to do. Security? Great, make Petya feel like he needs a baby sitter, and make him hate me even more. she thought bitterly. Nicasia exhaled and nodded shortly. "Yes sir, of course." she spoke out loud, biting her lower lip. She could practically feel the imminent explosion of anger that would be directed towards her from Petya and she refused to look over at him in fear of the daggers that he will stare at her with.

Petya felt his eye twitch when his father looked straight at him as he mentioned no complaining. As much as the twenty-five year old wanted to complain about being forced to work with this woman he wouldn't. Well he would complain about having to work with her, just not in the middle of getting the assignment. He would complain later at home and he would complain when he was away from the office and actually having to work with her, but he wouldn't complain now. Instead he simply tried to keep the glare off of his face and moved his gaze away from the minister. Perhaps it would be better for him to stare at the ground or something, which was exactly what he did. His attention zeroed in on the ground and it stayed there.

When his name was stated he glanced up through his lashes at his dad and nodded slightly. He'd made a promise to himself not to complain about having to work with Nicasia, but when his dad mentioned her being protection a small noise of protest escaped him. He shot a quick glare over towards the woman sitting next to him before glaring down at the ground once more. He barely got out a nod that he had heard and understood the assignment. There was no point in saying anything since he apparently didn't have a choice in the matter. Another glare was shot towards the woman from the corner of his eyes as he finally spoke. "So if that's all we'll take this item and get this over with already," he told the minister.

Lichtendahl was quite glad Nicasia was willing to take up the job offer. He wanted someone he knew he could rely on on this job. There were, of course, those members of his Ministry that he didn't trust. But this girl had a good reputation. Good reputations earned his trust easily. And Petya... Although his reputation was nothing to brag about, he was his son and that warranted enough trust to send the young male off on the assignment.

Lichty waved his wand, allowing an illusion charm fall away from the object that had been concealed on his desk. It was in a small crate which had chains locking it up. "This is what you will be delivering." He stood up and picked up the box. He brought it over to Petya, holding it out for him to take. "If you lose it, do not bother coming back to the Ministry. This item is more important than your life, so you two must ensure it arrives safely." His voice was dead serious. The artifact within that box was just that important.

"Are there any last questions?" He glanced between the two, allowing them to ask any final questions before they left for England.

Nicasia could feel Petya's eyes boring into her from her side. She fidgeted uncomfortably in her seat and looked up at the Minister with a small, uneasy smirk as she nodded her head when he spoke. The girl was smart enough to know how much Lichtendahl had insulted Petya by calling her his protection. She knew that she would probably be more levelheaded in a fight, but if it ever came down to brute strength and physical skill, Petya would be far better than she was.

For instance, if they could easily escape a problem with diplomacy and negotiation, Nicasia knew she would probably be able to handle it. That's how she got most people to come back with her when she was told to find them. She would find a way to make things right with Petya, if it meant letting him have more privilege than Minister Klein had alluded.

When the charm floated away from the box, Nicasia leaned forward slightly, involuntary, and peered at the box to see what it might be. Her eyes followed Lichtendahl as he walked the box over to Petya. At least he gave the responsibility to Petya. If he hadn't, it would have been a huge slap in the face. she thought to herself quietly. When Lichtendahl asked if they had any more questions, Nicasia shook her head. "No, sir. I've got enough information." she said softly, still speaking sheepishly as if the act of her talking would enrage Petya.

Petya really didn't like that his father seemed to be implying that he couldn't do his job. Never before had Petya put his crazy antics before getting his field work done. The only thing that ever took him a long time to complete was the paperwork once he arrived back. Still he didn't bother trying to point this out to his father or the girl sitting next to him. His father wouldn't listen and the female would probably assume he was just trying to be cool or tough or something.

The twenty-five year old took the box when his father held it out to him and looked at it. This thing was more important than him. Well that was nice to know. As his father started finishing off the meeting by asking if they had any questions the man shook his head. He stood with the crate in his arms. "We shall get things ready for departure and be gone within the next couple of hours," he told his father.

Lichty glanced between the true. He was trusting them with something important. He would much rather have preferred to deliver the item himself, but he w tied up with the Ministry at the moment. That was probably one of the more annoying things about being the Minister, he was forever too busy to come and go as he pleased. There was always something that needed to be done, something that needed to be signed. But he was proud that these two were taking on this task.

"Good. You can leave when you see fit." He felt a little bit better about the item leaving his office. "Oh... Petya..." Lichtendahl had been about to turn away when a sudden thought hit him. He looked at his son, "Be careful, alright? Come back safely." He actually w worried for the safety of the two of them, but he shred that everything would be alright. He grabbed an envelope off his desk and handed it out to his eldest son. "You may also want this to explain the box to the Minister." It didn't give anything away to the untrained eye. It was completely written using various forms of arithmancy. He made sure to go through a lot of trouble to ensure that the secrets of the box would remain just that, secrets.

Petya was sure this mission would be easy, just like most of his others had been. He would deliver the package as he was supposed to, ditch his "babysitter" like they all knew he was going to, and flirt with the girls there like his dad knew he would. Then when he got back he'd procrastinate writing out the report and turn it in at the last second like his dad knew he would. It was a never ending cycle that would only be broken if he ever found himself a girl. The man stood from his seat and shifted the package in his arm. He was just about to head towards the door when his father called him back. Turning the younger Klein blinked at his father's words.

He hadn't expected that especially since the package was apparently more important to him. He might have expected a "get the package there in one piece" sort of thing, but not to be told to be careful. Though it really shouldn't have surprised him. Petya took the letter his father held out and nodded. "Of course," he muttered still just a tad annoyed about having a babysitter on this trip, "we'll be back in a few days."
