Abraxis Binx frowned up at his mother when the woman refused to take him to Honeydukes to get some candy. She had mumbled something about not wanting to see her sister or some such thing before ushering the small boy further down the street. He wanted candy! The six year old slowed his footsteps and began to back away from his mother, who was currently looking at some dresses. He glanced over his shoulder at the door and then back at his mother before making a break for said door.

He grinned as he made it outside and did a small dance of victory before running back down the street. Now he could get candy! The six year old slipped in the door of the crowded candy shop and began looking around for just the right type of candy before something else caught his eye. Looking over a huge grin spread over his face. "Auntie!" he shouted as he ran towards the woman behind the counter.

Somehow or another, Winter had continued to work at Honeydukes even after the war. Why she had never quit she didn't know. Perhaps it was because she was still in a good position and quitting would likely mean that she would have to start at the bottom. She may or may not be looked at badly. After all, a good portion of her family had been death eaters in the war, however she had sided with the side that had won. It was what she always did. She was too indescive to ever pick and just made her decision until she was absolutely sure who would win. She never went off of beliefs. Of course, her decision had gone and made her more isolated by certain members of the family, such as her sister.

Winter frowned as she helped at the counter. While Honeydukes was usually busy- being a candy store and all- today was one of the more busier days where it got to the point where she had to help. It was bothersome really.

As Winter rang up someone's goods, she a frown suddenly came to her face upon hearing the words Auntie. Her eyes shot to Abraxis and her frown deepened. Hm wait, she recognized..."Abraxis?" she said, confusion on her face. She had never quite seen the child, at least not in person. Misty had made sure of that. But why was he here? And where was Misty for that matter....

A few of the customers standing in line had tried to stop him from shoving them out of his way. After all a little kid shoving people out of the way was either trying to break in line or get to some relative and none of the customers wanted to take the chance of having to wait longer. The child ignored these people and made his way through them before coming to stop close to the woman who had just said in name in a rather questioning tone. "Yep," he said with a huge grin. Of course he hadn't ever been allowed to really be around the woman in front of him. When he'd asked his mom once she had been vague about it and only really mentioned that it had something to do with the war a few years ago.

She had also mentioned the fact that said aunt worked at the candy store. What kind of parent kept their child away from a relative who worked in a candy store? He could get free candy and candy at lower prices and he could have lots and lots of candy. Which is what he wanted at this moment. Candy. "Can I have candy?" he asked looking up at the woman with wide blue eyes.

Winter kept back a scoff at Abraxis' question, vaguely amused at the question. "Depends." she said, concealing a smirk. "You have any money?" she said, merely wondering on exactly what type of reaction she was going to get from Abraxis. Considering this was her sister's child, she could vaguely imagine just exactly what that reaction would be. But then again, surprises were sometimes nice...only sometimes.

Did she really just ask him about money? Did he look like one of his parents? Or his brother for that matter? Alright so he might look a bit like them, but that was beside the point. His smile slipped a little and he cocked his head to the side like a curious bird or puppy. "No," he said quietly, "but you'll still give me candy. Right?" She couldn't deny him candy just because he didn't have money. He was her nephew and that meant he was supposed to get lots of free candy. Holding out a hand and looking small and innocent (something he was very good at since he hadn't been completely corrupted yet) he asked again, "Can I have candy?"

Winter's lips merely curved into a small, amused smile. She had been kidding of course. She wasn't going to go and demand her niece pay for candy from the store she was the Assistant Manager for and besides the fact she was pretty sure she could pay for whatever he wanted, or at least most of what he wanted. She should just hope he didn't have it in his mind to go on a sugar spree.

"I'm just joking, Abraxis." she said, a light amount of amusement glittering in her eyes. "Of course you can have some candy." she sad "What would you like?" she asked. Her mind briefly went to her job, and she turned to one of the employees, making a gesture to tell them to take over where she had been. Things seemed to be slowing down anyway so they should be fine anyway.

His grin came back full force when she admitted that she had just been kidding. He didn't really know what that meant other than she wasn't being serious and he would get candy. He just about started dancing in place, but refrained from doing so. Not that anyone would have really thought twice about a child in a candy store dancing around. It was made even better when she asked him what he wanted and his eyes got big. He quickly looked around as if trying to decide before hurrying off into the thinned crowd. "Chocolate!" he called from somewhere in the crowd.

A moment later there was a rather loud crash as what sounded like one of the tables displaying candy hit the ground and the sounds of candy skidding across the floor could be heard. "I didn't do it!" he shouted as the crowd moved away from the mess that had been made. The boy made his way through the crowd to the source of the noise to see just what had happened.

Winter's lips spread into a grin at Abraxis' clear joy at being able to get candy. She was hardly surprised that he requested chocolate. After all, was not chocolate not only the most popular of candies? It was practically a nectar for pleasure. She had yet to meat a single person who didn't like the sweet and really anyone who didn't like the candy usually meant they just didn't like it best.

She nodded and moved to get the sweet, only to stop when she heard a very audible crash. She held back a groan, knowing well enough that she would have to take care of this. After all, someone could have easily been hurt and there was only so much the employees could do and technically in a situation like this she had to be there. Sometimes, she really did hate her job.

However, she did have to hold back a grin when she heard Abraxis shout that he hadn't done it. Somehow, she wasn't sure if she could believe that. After all, Binxes somehow had a knack for getting mixed up into trouble one way or another, no matter whether they were good or not.

Rushing towards the trouble. her eyes flickered about the area. She held back asking if anyone was hurt. Such an obvious question. She grimaced at the mess, her eyes landing on a boy who had a guilty expression written on his face- no doubt the culprit. Holding back a sigh, she ordered several of the employees to clean up the mess. Wands waving about, the mess was quickly taken care of. However, Winter couldn't help but scowl. The candy that had been scattered would all go to waste, unable to be sold. And the money that would be wasted would have to come from somewhere. Her nose wrinkled, unhappy at the turn of events.

Holding back a sigh, she put on a fake smile and turned to the parents of the child. Why couldn't have fashion turned out well for her again?

Re: You Gives Me Candy? [Summer 2001]

Abraxis really hadn't done anything. Well he had shoved the kid, but it hadn't been enough to send him almost a foot into the table. No the kid had stumbled, regained his balance, and then ran into the table. Therefore he had nothing to do with it. He looked with wide eyes at the scattered candy before turning a glare onto the boy who'd done it. "Why did you do that for?" he asked angrily, "that was good candy! People could have eat that and you ruined it! You're a terrible child. You're parents shouldn't get you any candy." Alright so really he had no reason to be getting angry, but the candy that had been destroyed was some of his favorite and with the accident that meant that a lot of it went to waste.

The boy probably would have continued yelling at the child -paying no mind to the fact that his parents were standing there staring from him to his aunt and back- had his aunt not been standing there. Blue eyes looked up at the woman with a pout on his face before he pointed towards the boy. "He's the evil thing that ruined the good candy," he informed her, "I want him sent to jail or...or...banned from the shop." Of course being six he had no idea what either of those things meant. Sure he knew that jail was a place bad people went, but he had no idea why or how long they stayed and the same could be said for the word ban.

If anyone had doubted that Abraxis was a Binx they clearly weren't seeing what Winter was seeing right now. Of course, Winter would have to take off points for lack of tack. Among other things too...

Winter bit her lip, not sure if she should be amused or annoyed at the mess that Abraxis was getting her into. She wasn't an idiot and could add two and two and could clearly see that he had something to do with this now that she was looking at things closer. He was hardly innocent in this. But then again, when was a Binx?

Winter held back a sigh and merely smiled at Abraxis. "Nobody is going to jail, especially not for tipping over a table." she said, practiced patience in her voice. She'd long ago learned how to be patient, especially with having to deal with family like hers and with so many situations that she would have to face being a Binx. "Now, why don't you go and look for the candy you wanted, hm? I thought you said you wanted some?" she said, absentmindedly hoping that would distract him. After all, changing the subject quickly might help him forget about wanting to get this child sent to jail.

Abraxis frowned when his aunt informed him that no one was going to jail. Well that wasn't very good. Something needed to be done about this kid before he ruined anything else. When she brought his attention back to candy the boy seemed to completely forget about the other kid and the ruined candy. He grinned and nodded. "You're right. Candy!" he shouted as he spun around only to collide with the kid who had put him in a bad mood. Abraxis glared at the boy. "Move!"

He didn't like this kid. He kept appearing and ruining things. "Go ruin some other place and stop ruining the candy store you...you...you stupid brat!" Alright so his insults needed some work and it was obvious that he'd gotten his parents temper, but at least the kid had sense enough to quickly move out of Abraxis way. The boy hurried off into the crowd in an attempt to find his candy of choice.

Winter kept a careful eye on Abraxis for a moment and when she was sure he wasn't going to do anything she turned back to the child who run off's parents and quickly gaze them a practiced apology. Speaking to them briefly, she turned back to the employees and the entire mess. She only left once she was sure everything was under control and that the entire mess would quickly be cleaned up.

She went back to the counter, her gaze seeking out Abraxis, hoping that the young child had not stirred up any trouble while she had stopped watching him for a few moments.

He quickly made his way through the shelves and around the people to the candy that he wanted. He grabbed a couple boxes of it before turning around and pushing back through people towards the counter. He happily made his way over to his aunt with his boxes of candy and held them out to her. "Candy," he said happily. Now that he had his candy he was good to go.

Winter had only managed to get through a minute or two of work before Abraxis had come back. Blinking, she stared at him for a moment, before allowing a smile to come to her face. She took them and rung them up and took some of her own money and put it in the register. No need for someone to wonder about this after all.

"There you are, dear." she said, smiling lightly, handing them back to him.

Abraxis happily took his candy back when his aunt handed it to him. "Yay! Thank you auntie!" he squealed giving her a quick hug. Now that he had candy he had no reason to stay in the store so he turned and hurried out of the building to hunt down his parents before they came looking for him instead.
