Boredom Is My Worst Enemy

It was rather odd that Safiya was bored. She normally had someone to hang out with once classes were over and if she didn't have someone to hang out with then she could find someone. Today seemed to be different though. Her female best friends were off doing who knows what. She was pretty sure one of them was in the library and the other had found some boy to flirt with, which really wasn't unusual. Her male friends were who knew where. And she'd already done her studies for the day. That left her with nothing to do. She didn't feel like staying inside and opt to go outside and walk for a bit. The walk wasn't very far or much and soon enough she was sitting next to the oasis. She leaned against a tree close by and pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Why didn't there seem to be anything to do around here?

Reseph had finally got out of classes for the day, and the only thing that he wanted to do was go to the Oasis and relax underneath a tree - maybe even take a nap! Reseph needed to unwind, and as such he wasted no time in heading to the Oasis. Unsurprisingly the place was rather crowded, and Reseph settled himself beneath a tree before looking around the Oasis and stretching quietly.

She caught movement out of the corner of her eye. The girl tilted her head enough to see who it was and a grin spread over her face. Someone she knew rather well had just taken a seat under the tree next to the one she was currently sitting under. The girl hopped up and moved to the other tree and plopped down next to the boy. "Hey Reseph," she greeted with a huge grin on her face.

Reseph nodded quietly when he saw who it was speaking to him and replied "Good afternoon Safiya." Reseph did not exactly have a billion friends, but he and Safiya got along quite well - not to mention that she was very easy on the eyes, and Reseph quite enjoyed spending time in her company. "How've you been?" he asked.

"I've been well," she said with a small nod as she leaned against the tree next to the other. She hadn't been doing anything worth mentioning lately and unless he wanted her to complain about how she was really bored. There didn't seem to be anything worth doing lately and most of her other friends were being boring. "How have you been?" she asked, gaze moving back over to Reseph from where she'd looked out over the water in front of them.

Reseph shrugged, "Alright I suppose." he replied, quiet as usual - it was very rare that Reseph said more than a few words at a time, and only Hakeem and Lavi could regularly get him to engage in actual conversations. It was actually rather scary to note the difference in the way that Reseph acted around those two as opposed to everyone else.

"You suppose?" she repeated with a raised eyebrow, "that doesn't sound very happy at all." Then again she was one to talk about happy. She was bored and figured that she might as well try to get Reseph to hold a longer conversation than just short answers. "How have your classes been going?" she asked. She would think a little longer on what to try and converse with him about that was more interesting.

Reseph shrugged and replied "Well I'm not exactly a happy person." Reseph didn't care who knew this - it was apparent enough from his demeanor so why try to lie about it? The question of classes, of course, was a rather silly one, and Reseph replied tersely "The same as usual."

Safiya rolled her eyes at the boy's reply. "Alright then at least sound something other than bored?" she tried. If he wasn't going to be happy then he could at least be something that wasn't bored. His response about classes was just as boring. Letting a small scowl come over her face for a moment she thought quickly. "Let's go do something," she finally told him as she turned her body so that she was looking at him, "it's boring just sitting here."

"Well I am bored." Reseph pointed out before shrugging noncommittally when Safiya suggested that they go and find something to do. "Well if you say so." Reseph was hardly the most social person, and most of his hobbies were not conducive to hanging out with other people.

"Perhaps you should try adding a little more emotion to your voice," she suggested with a small shrug of her shoulders when he pointed out that he was in fact bored. As soon as he agreed to them going to find something to do a grin spread over her face and she hopped to her feet before turning to Reseph. Reaching down she grabbed his arm as if to try and pull him to his feet. "Come on then," she said, "I'm sure there's something to do around here."

"Why would I do that?" Reseph asked even if he was dragged to his feet by the rather eager girl. "Uhh...okay." Reseph mumbled somewhat uncertainly "Where are we going exactly?" Reseph was far from excited about this plan, but he supposed that he was not to be given a choice in the matter.

"To make your answer more interesting?" she suggested with a shrug. She paused and blinked over at him for a moment when he asked where they were going before shrugging. "No clue," she admitted, "but we're going to go find something more interesting to do than sit here and be bored."

"Alright, well since this is your hair-brained idea, you lead the way." Reseph replied irritably. He wasn't sure what exactly it was that Safiya had planned for them, but he imagined it was going to be something erring on the side of annoying.

She rolled her eyes at the boy's tone and dragged him along after her. "No need to sound so annoyed about it," she joked, casting a quick grin at him over her shoulder. The girl really had no idea what they could do that wouldn't make them bored rather quickly, but she was sure something would pop up eventually.

"Yeah, I'm not." Reseph said, clearly lying, as he stumbled lazily after the girl asking sarcastically "So tell me, what fantastical adventures lie in wait for us oh masterful planner?" And Reseph wondered why he didn't have any friends...

Safiya simply rolled her eyes at Reseph's words. "Of course you aren't," she mumbled. When he inquired about what lay in wait she shrugged. "Oh you know," she said with a small wave of the hand not holding onto the boy's arm, "something really dangerous and possibly deadly like always." Okay that was a lie because most of the time her adventures weren't very dangerous or deadly, but it was more amusing to assume they were going to be.

"Ooh, I'm just shivering in my boots." Reseph muttered dryly, looking at Safiya with an expression that suggested that this was about as interesting to him as pulling teeth.

She ignored the tone of which the words were delivered and instead smiled brightly. "You should be," she informed him, "either shivering in your boots or just worrying about what craziness my mind will come up with." If all else failed they would just wander around aimlessly. At least it gave them something to do. "Perhaps we should go explore the labyrinth," she suggested glancing over at him, "or we could...go study? Okay so maybe not the studying." The last part was mumbled because she really didn't want to study anymore right now. "We could always go for a swim," she said after a moment, even if they had already left the Oasis.

"Oh no, walking or swimming." Reseph replied in mock terror "You're right, I should be terrified." Reseph rolled his eyes at the very thought before adding "Yeah, anyways I don't care - just pick one!"

Sighing at the lack of help from the other she turned them around and headed back to the Oasis. "Fine. Swimming it is then," she decided quickly, "it's too hot to be out walking around." It really wasn't that hot at the moment, but she didn't feel like walking around and swimming was as good an option as any.

"Alright, works for me." Reseph replied, always in the mood to jump in the water and soak away the heat. Honestly as soon as he could Reseph was going to leave Egypt and move somewhere that was not always so darn hot!

Safiya wasn't really bothered by the heat, but she did like swimming and never really turned it down. "Good," she said as they got closer to the Oasis once more.

Reseph nodded and followed after Safiya, not really seeing anything wrong with this arrangement. Swimming was fun after all, and Reseph was quite looking forward to whatever it was that the coming day would bring - in his own strange little way.

As they got to the Oasis Safiya pulled out her wand and transfigured her clothes into a swimsuit before glancing over at Reseph. "Would you like me to transfigure you some swimming trunks or do you just wanna do your own thing?" she asked gesturing her wand towards his clothes.
