Let's Be Friends [Fall 1994]

Postby Geovanny Fyfe » Wed May 16, 2012 2:04 pm

Geovanny Fyfe was excited. He had finally joined the ranks of Hogwarts with his other siblings and those who had long since graduated. He was finally getting to share in the stories and such that his brothers and sisters before him told to their parents and younger brother during the holidays. The eleven year old had a huge grin on his face that hadn't really disappeared since the sorting hat had called out Hufflepuff when he tried it on. Two of his siblings were in Hufflepuff so he wouldn't be alone or have to worry about not getting to see them, though his sister was all the way over in Ravenclaw so he'd have to figure out a way to see her just as much.

Now though the feast was over and most of the older students were meeting up with friends. His siblings had already congratulated him on his house and now he was left to his own devices for the rest of the evening. He looked around at his fellow first years and tried to figure out which one he wanted to talk to soon. Most of them seemed to be talking to each other already so instead of intruding on their conversations, he'd save that for another night, he headed upstairs to his new dorm.

He pushed the door open and peaked around the corner to see if anyone else had decided to come on up or if they were all down in the common room.

It was fair to say that Charlie Harrington was absolutely terrified. Not only was he in this new place, in a whole new world even! He'd also managed to do the one thing he'd always hoped not to; disappoint his father. Now that he'd arrived at Hogwarts, he was trying not to think about his father's expression as he'd left the house to go to the station. There was nothing he could do to change it now, and he was probably best off just focusing on what was here now - that was daunting enough without panicking about what was going on at home.

After they'd been shown back to the common room, Charlie had gone straight up to the dormitory. He didn't have any friends to catch up with, like everyone else seemed to. The one person he'd met on the train had been sorted into a different house, and with everybody else deep in conversation he hadn't felt brave enough to start talking to anyone.

He'd been sat on his new bed for what felt like an hour now, looking out of the window out across at the grounds. The dormitory had reminded him of the one he'd stayed in at his old, muggle boarding school. He only hoped that Hogwarts wasn't at all like that school had been, where the elder students could bully them constantly and get away with it. All he needed was just to make a friend or two, and then things would be better. He was sure of that, although it was much easier said than done.

Just as he had this thought he heard the door creak open behind him, instantly Charlie stood up and turned round to face the door. Experience from his old school had taught him not to leave his back to anyone, especially if you didn't know who was there; anything could happen. Fortunately the person there appeared to be a first year too, and Charlie opened his mouth to try and say hello, but soon thought better of it and sat back down on his bed again. Mentally he cursed himself, how was he ever going to make a friend if he couldn't even say hello to anybody?!

Blue eyes scanned the room in curiosity before landing on a boy standing, facing the door as if waiting for something. Curiously the blue eyes blinked as Geovanny fully entered the room. The boy reached up and pushed a piece of curly blonde hair out of his face as he took in the other boy standing there. He'd seen the other boy open his mouth, but then close it and sit down. He only stood there for a second to see if the other was going to actually speak before taking it upon himself to start the introductions and get to know yous and such. He walked...well sort of bounced...like a walk-bounce sort of thing...point is he headed over to where one of his new roommates currently sat.

Without really waiting for an invitation to sit or something he hopped onto the bed beside the other and turned a huge grin on him. "Hi," he greeted, still bouncing slightly in his place, "I'm Geovanny Fyfe, but feel free to call me Geo. That's what everyone else does. What's your name? Do you have any siblings? I have nine; two sisters and seven brothers. What about pets? Do you have any pets? Where are you from? Do you like it there?" He stopped to take a deep breath and then waited for the other to answer his questions.

Charlie heard the other boy begin to walk over, but he just assumed that he was making his way across to his own bed, or perhaps he was searching for a belonging and then he'd run back off downstairs again to talk to people. Charlie wished that talking would come as easily to him; even now when there was just one other person in the room he couldn't think of anything to say! This whole boarding school thing really was going to be a disaster if he couldn't at least say hello to his dorm mates.

However it seemed that he didn't need to worry about initiating a conversation, as suddenly he felt the boy sit next to him on the bed. Charlie's head span round, his mouth opening slightly but this other boy spoke before he even got the chance. "Uh... hi," he responded, not really sure how to react to this. But before he really got a chance to think about it he was being bombarded with questions, and whilst Charlie was rather taken aback by this, it certainly made things easier. He wouldn't ever need to think about to say if their conversation could just carry on like this.

The boy bounced on the bed, making Charlie bounce up and down a little beside him as the mattress moved. "My name's Charles Harrington, but most people call me Charlie. I don't have any brothers or sisters, or any pets. I live just outside London, it's kinda nice I suppose." Charlie paused after this long reel of answers, before nervously adding. "What about you?"

"Charlie," Geo said as if trying out the name before frowning slightly. He thought for a moment before grinning at the other boy. "I'm gonna call you Char instead," he told the other boy with a firm nod. His listened as the other boy answered his questions and was a bit surprised to hear that the other boy had neither siblings nor pets. How did he survive without either!?

As the questions were turned to him the blonde grinned. "Like I said I have nine siblings; two sister, Màiri and Picasa - and seven brothers; Toren, Abel, Blair, Micheil, Iain, Leith, and Leslie," he grinned. He loved all of his siblings and thought that it was rather cool that he had so many of them. Most people thought he'd hate being one of the youngest of so many kids, but Geo just thought it meant that he always had someone to play with or talk to.

"I don't really have any pets of my own," he told the boy, "the family has an owl, Mermy, and my mom has a dog. Sometimes we have cats wander to our house and I've brought home more than one weird creature that I've found, but I never get to keep them." He pouted as he said this because he had really wanted to keep that snake he found only a few days before he went off to school.

"It's only nice? What's it like living in London?" he asked, leaning forward with wide eyes, "I live in Inverness next to Loch Ness. It's pretty fun because there's plenty of room to play and stuff."

Re: Let's Be Friends [Fall 1994]

"Oh, okay..." Charlie hesitantly agreed to his new nickname. He'd never been called anything apart from Charlie before, and he didn't really know what to think about suddenly having something new bestowed upon him. He knew that he'd just go along with it though, it may feel strange but he didn't really have anything against it.

"Wow, nine?" the shock was evident on Charlie's face. He was an only child himself, and so he could hardly imagine what it would be like to have nine brothers and sisters; he wasn't even sure if they'd all fit inside his house. He had to admit though that having nine siblings sounded great, with that many people in the house then surely it would be impossible to get lonely - something that Charlie felt quite a lot whilst he was at home alone. "And are they all at Hogwarts too?" he then asked curiously, wishing that he had some siblings who could've told him all about the school.

Charlie's eyebrows steadily rose as Geo continued speaking, the house he was talking about seemed completely different to what he was used to back in London. They'd never been allowed animals in the house, and he certainly wasn't allowed to wander around outside finding creatures. "Wow, that's really cool," he muttered, "I've always wanted a dog, but father wouldn't let me."

"London's okay," he continued on quietly, a small shrug accompanying his answer, "I'd rather live where you live. My house is in the middle of the city, and I'm hardly ever allowed outside. Apparently it's too dangerous or something."

Geo grinned when the boy agreed to the nickname he had come up with. Sure he had a nickname because people called him Charlie, but in Geo's opinion that wasn't a nickname because it was just as long as his real name. Plus, it meant that they were friends if he got to shorten the other's name down like that. Or at least the blonde thought it meant they were friends. It was something to think on later when he wasn't getting to know his new friend.

He nodded when the other repeated the number of siblings. The blonde knew it was a lot, but he was very proud of the rather large number. He giggled when Char asked him if they were all at school now and shook his head. "Nope, Toren, Abel, Màiri, Blair, and Micheil all graduated a bit ago...well Micheil graduated like last year but still they've went off to do adult things. Iain is a sixth year in our house and so is Leith, though he's a third year and not a sixth year. Then there's Picasa who's a fifth year Ravenclaw this year and my youngest sibling, Leslie, who's only five so he's got a bit to go." As he was speaking of his siblings he was counting them off on his fingers. If he'd tried to talk about them without the fingers then he would have missed someone and then he would have felt bad and probably wrote them a letter apologizing for forgetting them or something.

Geo frowned when Charlie mentioned wanting a dog, but not being able to have one. What kind of parent didn't allow their kids to have something as simple as a dog? "What about your mum?" he asked, "can't she give you permission to have one?" When one parent refused always go to the other. Normally that worked out rather well for Geo.

"Not able to go outside!" he exclaimed in shock and a bit of horror. He couldn't imagine not being able to go outside whenever he wanted to. It probably helped that most of the time he had an older sibling who would join him out there.

It amused Charlie how Geo had to count his siblings off on his hands, then again he was sure that when one had that many siblings it could be easy to accidentally forget one of them. And of course Charlie knew he wouldn't want to forget one of his brothers or sisters, but as much as he understood it, he still found it funny. "So, I guess you know a lot about magic already?" he commented, although he'd already expected that most of the people in his year would be in this kind of situation. Charlie was definitely going to be at a disadvantage.

He then shrugged at Geo's next question, he'd never even thought about asking his Mum instead. He knew what the answer would have been, and so he hadn't really seen much point. His parents always agreed with each other on these things, and he'd given up trying to argue about it now. He never won. "I don't know, normally when father says no, mum does too. And he'd already said no, I couldn't really go against what he'd said."

Charlie gave a small sigh, chuckling at a little at Geo's shock. It really did seem that they'd been brought up completely different, and he couldn't help but feel a little jealous. He'd always dreamed of living in the countryside and being able to run and play outside whenever he liked, and that seemed to be exactly what Geo had. "Well I mean, I do get to go outside. Just not on my own, and my parents don't always have time to take me to the park or anything."

Re: Let's Be Friends [Fall 1994]

Postby Geovanny Fyfe » Mon May 21, 2012 4:41 pm

The blonde blinked at the seemingly random question about knowing magic. Of course he really had no room to talk about being random since he had just come in and started asking the other a lot of random questions. For a moment he wondered if it might be a trick question, if he'd gotten put with one of those creepy "purebloods rule and everyone else should die!" sort of people before deciding that Charlie was to nice and shy to be of those kinds of people. "I suppose you could say I know a lot about it," he agreed with a small nod, "but I don't know very much. I mean I've watched my mom and dad and older siblings perform it and all, but this'll be my first chance getting to learn it myself."

A small moment of hesitation, arguing with himself, and looking at the other with narrowed blue eyes made Geo come to a decision. "You don't know a lot about magic do ya?" he asked with a small tilt of his head, eyes now back to the wide innocent look they usually held, "I'm going to help you out so that you aren't to confused and behind the others." It was meant as an offer, but with the way it was phrased and the tone that the blonde used it came out as more of a statement than an offer. He didn't want his new friend to get upset because he didn't know things about the magical world that others might know.

When Char mentioned that his parents usually had the same answer the boy frowned. Sure his parents sometimes had the same answers to some of his more outlandish request, like keeping the snake or the chicken or that one odd bouncing thing, but sometimes he could convince one parent to convince the other parent that it was alright or in some cases not alright. Still he knew that some kids were different and wouldn't try something like that, Merlin even Geo didn't do it to often.

The first year made an 'o' with his mouth when Charlie explained. "Well," he said with a small frown not sure what to say, "if it makes it any better I normally wind up going outside with at least two of my siblings." Alright so it wasn't the same because Geo was able to go outside whenever he liked, but it was the best he could offer up. Not long after saying this his attention moved onto something completely different and he was bouncing in his place once more. "What's your favorite color?" he asked and not giving the other time to talk continued on, "I don't really have a favorite color cause I can't really choose which one I like better."

He cut off for only a second before hopping up off the bed and turning to grab the other boy's arm. "Come on," he said with a grin, seeming to have completely forgotten about his question.

Charlie nodded sadly as Geo spoke, just as he'd thought the boy already knew much more about magic than he did. Well, Geo had said he knew kind of a lot, which was definitely more than Charlie knew - which was basically next to nothing. Even if this was his friend's first chance to actually learn magic for himself, Charlie was sure that it would be easier for him as he already knew a little about it. Charlie didn't even know how to go about casting a spell.

"Yeah, I don't really know much about it," Charlie muttered reluctantly, "Next to nothing really." Yes, he was sounding rather sorry for himself, but he was sure that he was going to be so far behind everyone else that he didn't have a chance of fitting in with anyone. At least Geo was talking to him now though, hopefully he'd be Charlie's friend.

"Will you?!" Charlie's head shot up eagerly as Geo suggested that he'd be able to help them out. A wide grin filled Charlie's face, he probably seemed very different now that he wasn't acting so nervous and quiet. "Thanks Geovanny!" the boy resisted the urge to reach across and hug his new found friend, because as excited as he was he knew that some people didn't like suddenly being jumped on, and he didn't want to jeopardise this new friendship.

Charlie felt slightly better to hear that Geo wasn't really allowed to go out on his own either - as Charlie had thought first of all. Then again, his parents had always seemed to be stricter that most of his friends', and as much as he loved his parents dearly sometimes he couldn't help but feel it was a little unfair. Especially when he was talking to people about Geo who seemed to have spent almost his whole childhood running around outside. Charlie had always wanted to do that, but then again he didn't have any siblings that could take him outside like Geo did.

Charlie tilted his head as he considered what his favourite colour was, but just as he opened his mouth to answer Geovanny had suddenly jumped off of the bed and was dragging him away again. "Where are we going?" Charlie laughed, standing up and following after his friend. As much as he wasn't used to Geo's sudden change in topics, he did like it. His mood had improved considerably since the boy had come into the room.

Re: Let's Be Friends [Fall 1994]

When Charlie answered his question with a positive the blonde made a vow in his mind that he was going to help his friend out. He'd teach him all about the plants and animals (the two most important things in Geo's life next to his family and friends) and then every thing he'd learnt from his siblings over the years. It would take a bit, but Charlie wouldn't be to far behind if Geo had anything to say about it. "Of course I will," Geo told the boy with a firm nod of his head, "I said I would and I will and it'll all be fine." He giggled when the other said his full name and waved the thanks off, but he did lean over to wrap an arm around the other boy's shoulders in a one armed hug.

That was the thing about growing up with twelve people in the house. The whole personal space and boundaries and such were nearly non-existent because someone was always in your space. It was something that Geo was sure Charlie would get used to as the years progressed further on.

Geovanny paused for only a second when Charlie asked where they were going before dragging him out of the dorm and through the common room. He wanted to go do something and he didn't want to stay in the dorm. He caught sight of Leith and Iain sitting with a few friends and waved at them, shouting about "going exploring" to satisfy their questioning looks. "Hurry," he urged Charlie as he dragged the other after him down the corridor. Again Geo had no idea where he was going, but wherever it was he was gonna drag Charlie with him.

"Just... thanks!" Charlie spluttered, unable to get his words out properly. He was just so glad that Geo had agreed to help him out. All he'd been worried about was not being able to understand what people were talking about at Hogwarts, but at least now he had someone who could explain things to him, and hopefully who Charlie wouldn't feel silly asking loads of questions to. What more, Charlie saw Geo deciding to help him like this as being one step closer to having an actual friend at Hogwarts, after all helping each other out like this was definitely a sign of friendship. He grinned as Geo wrapped an arm around him, even more signs that they were really going to be friends!

"Where are we going?" Charlie repeated as Geo dragged him through the common room. He only laughed more as the boy told to him hurry - Charlie already thought that they were going rather fast. However he slowed down as they walked out into the corridor, finally pulling his arm out of the other boy's grasp and coming to a stop. "A-Are we allowed out now?" he asked quietly, looking up and down the empty corridor. He didn't really know what the rules were at this school, but he very much doubted that they'd be allowed to roam about at this time of night.

"Does it really matter where we're going?" he asked. Geo never really planned where he was going until he'd already got there. He was also used to whoever he was with just going along with him and not asking where he was going. Then again most people he ran around with were his siblings and knew that he probably had no idea where he was going so asking would be rather pointless. When Charlie pulled away from him to ask about being out late the blonde turned around to look at him with wide, confused eyes. "Why wouldn't we be allowed out?" he asked with a small tilt of his head.

He wasn't used to having a curfew and didn't really think about having one at school. Plus, if there really was a curfew Leith or Iain would have stopped him from leaving the common room so that he didn't get in trouble. "We'll be fine," he told the boy before starting to walk down the corridor in the direction he'd been dragging his new friend.

"Well, I don't know... it's late," Charlie replied, although this was a perfectly good explanation. He was up much later than he'd ever been before, and he knew that his parents definitely wouldn't approve of him leaving his common room so late at night, especially when no other students seemed to be out in the corridors. He didn't even know where he was going, he'd never done anything like this before and he couldn't help but feel a little afraid.

"Are you sure?" Charlie asked, his eyes widening as he watched Geo walk away. He didn't want to go out into the castle this late, but he definitely didn't want to be left stood alone like this. "I don't want to get into trouble on our first day," he said quietly, running after his friend, "And what if we get lost?" His voice trembled slightly as he spoke, the idea absolutely terrifying him. He didn't understand how Geovanny could just be so calm doing this.

The other's explanation didn't make any sense to the blonde boy. What did it matter that it was late? In his mind it was to early to think about settling into the common room for a couple of hours or something. How could Charlie think that it was too late to be out and about? He'd have to fix that thought in his new friend's mind so that they didn't have to stop and have this conversation every time Geo tried to take him on an adventure of some sort.

He nodded his head at Char's question about being sure about being out. He didn't stop walking to try and explain it to the other boy figuring that he'd either come with him or go back to the common room, though Geo was hoping that he'd come with him. Blue eyes turned to look at the other as he caught up with him and a smile of reassurance spread over his face. "Don't worry about it," he told the boy, "there's no way that we could get in trouble on our first day. The professors would have to let us off with a warning or something if we're not supposed to be out." When Charlie moved to the part about getting lost the blonde shrugged.

"If we get lost then someone will come and find us," he said with such certainty that should put the other at ease, "I've got two siblings who saw us leave and they'll probably stay up until we come back and if we don't return they'll come looking for us." He seriously believed that his siblings would come find them if he didn't return before a certain amount of time because there was no way they'd leave him to wander around a place he'd never been before for to long on his first day. Maybe a couple of weeks into the year once he got his bearings, but not the first day.

Charlie raised an eyebrow at Geovanny; he was sure that they probably could get in trouble, even if it was only their first day. On his first day of primary school he'd gotten into big trouble over something, and he hadn't even known that what he was doing was against the rules! However, now he was pretty sure that there would be a rule against first years roaming around the castle at night. His parents hadn't been impressed that time, and he was sure that they wouldn't be happy if he got into trouble again now. And after the way they'd reacted to the news that he was a wizard, Charlie didn't want to do anything else to upset them.

"But..." Charlie sighed at Geo's response, not entirely satisfied by it. To Charlie, even just a warning was the same as getting into trouble. He pushed his fringe out of his eyes as they walked down the corridor. He didn't want to go out like this, but at the same time he didn't want to turn his back on Geo. He was so close to actually having a friend, he couldn't blow this now. He just so didn't want to get into trouble. "I don't want to get some sort of reputation on my first day," Charlie muttered, although he could already see that he was going to end up wandering off with Geo whether he liked it or not.

He gave a small nod as Geo mentioned his siblings, it made sense after all, that they'd come looking for him. But he still felt uneasy about the whole idea, it just seemed as though something was bound to go wrong - or they were bound to get caught. "D- Do you do this sort of thing a lot?" Charlie asked nervously, wondering what sort of friend he was making here.

Re: Let's Be Friends [Fall 1994]

When Charlie continued to put up a protest about being out the blonde looked at him curiously. Was he really this worried about getting in trouble? Or did he just not really feel like being out and was trying to come up with an excuse? Geo had never met anyone who put up much protest when he tried to drag them somewhere. Then again most of the time the people he was with were his siblings and they knew that he would have an answer and solution to every problem they might try to come up with to make him change his mind. The boy giggled slightly when Charlie mentioned getting a reputation on his first day. "I don't think you have to worry about that," he assured the other with a bright grin, "a reputation takes a bit to get and being out now wouldn't really do much." Or at least Geo didn't think it would do much.

After they'd walked for a moment more blue eyes looked over at the other boy. "You know," he started, a bit uncertain, "if you don't want to come with me I can take you back to the common room." He really wanted the other boy to come with him, but if Charlie was going to be uncomfortable and worried the entire time then it wasn't going to be as fun because he'd be worrying the entire time. They hadn't gotten to far from the entrance to the common room yet so it wouldn't be hard to get him back.

The blonde nodded in response to the question about doing this a lot. "Yep. Though most of the time it's at the house and outside the house so it's not to worrisome or anything."

Charlie sighed again at Geovanny's response, thinking that the boy still didn't understand what he was talking about. Surely getting into any sort of trouble would start to earn them a reputation? Or at the very least it would draw the teacher's attention towards him - and not in a good way. Or perhaps Charlie was just over-paranoid about getting into any sort of trouble. He hated drawing any attention to himself, and usually the best way to do that was just to make sure that he stuck to the rules completely.

Charlie glanced back upwards at Geo at his next suggestion. His first reaction was just to mentally scream 'Yes! Take me back!!!' but he paused for a moment before answering. Yes, he didn't want to get into trouble at all - or get lost. But... he had a friend! A real life, actual friend. That was all he'd hoped to find at Hogwarts, and he couldn't just dismiss them so quickly. Charlie wasn't exactly an expert when it came to friendships, but he was pretty sure that Geo wouldn't like it if Charlie ruined all of his plans, and he might not want to be friends with him any more.

Although, wasn't this the sort of thing that Charlie had always dreamed of? Not only had his games involved him being a wizard, but they were also always about him going off and having great adventures. There was no way he was going to have an adventure if he stayed sat safely in the common room. One of the main reason's he'd been so excited about coming away to school was this chance to reinvent him self, and he may as well start now.

"Well, I guess we could stay out," he began hesitantly, hardly believing what he was saying, "So long as we don't stay out too long, or go too far." After all, it was best to start out small. He didn't want to go too adventurous.

Sadly Charlie's thoughts about Geovanny not understanding were true. Geo really didn't understand what the problem was about getting in trouble or being out after this "curfew" that might or might not be in effect. Then again the blonde boy was rather used to getting into trouble for doing stupid and / or dangerous thing. It came with the whole ADHD thing where he couldn't sit still for very long without wanting to be up doing something or pay attention for longer than a couple of minutes. It was probably why he was getting a bit bored with the discussion about why they should (from him) and shouldn't (from Charlie) be out when no one else seemed to be.

Geo really wouldn't have minded taking his new friend back to the common room if that's what he wanted. Sure he would be a bit disappointed over not being able to go on their first adventure now, but there were still a number of years left to drag the other on adventures. It didn't have to be this one. They could go on one tomorrow or the day after or next week or something.

He grinned widely at Charlie when the boy agreed to stay out and it didn't even waver with those conditions of his about not staying out late or going to far. "Of course not," he agreed with a quick nod, "like I said my brothers wouldn't let me stay out to long anyway." He stopped in front of a staircase the lead to some of the higher levels and looked at it curiously for a moment before starting up them.

Charlie gave Geovanny a small smile as he agreed, glad that they'd at least managed to settle that. He didn't want to get lost at all, and the best way to do that would be to not go too far so that he could remember his way back. At least that was how Charlie thought about it, and so he looked behind him for a moment - double checking that he could remember his way back to the common room. Sure Charlie wanted to go out and have an adventure - but he still needed to be careful! What would his parents think if they could see him roaming about the castle like this now, actually... it was probably better if Charlie just didn't think about that.

As soon as he'd finished assuring himself that he knew his way back, Charlie's head turned again to look up at the staircase. He turned to ask Geo if perhaps they could explore somewhere else on this floor - then it would be much easier to find their way back, but before he had the chance to say anything his friend was bounding up the stairs. Charlie exhaled slowly, before following after the boy.

"It's pretty cool that you get to do this a lot," Charlie commented as he walked up the stairs, eager to know more about Geovanny's adventures. It seemed he had the sort of life that Charlie had always dreamed of, so naturally he was curious about it. "I always dreamt of being an explorer and stuff. I bet you've explored everything around your house?" This was probably the most Charlie had said all night, but he'd always been obsessed with exploration and adventure stories, and he found Geo very cool for having done those sort of things in real life.

It was actually a rather good thing that the two boys had went up the stairs because as soon as they disappeared up them a Slytherin sixth year prefect walked around the corner on their patrol. The blonde boy looked at his companion with a grin. He thought it was pretty cool that he got to do this all the time to. Most people apparently just stayed in their homes or somewhere close to their homes when they went out. Geovanny never really stayed close to the house and had explored everywhere around his home. "I have," he agreed as they reached the top of the staircase. Geovanny glanced around before choosing a random direction towards the left and starting to walk.

"I've actually explored my whole town...well the town closest to my house. It's taken most of my life thus far to get all of it explored. What about you? Have you ever gone on an adventure or explored?" He looked over at the other with wide blue eyes full of curiosity. It was interesting to meet someone who hadn't done much exploring in their life and if that was the case with Charlie then Geovanny was going to change that and take him on tons of adventures.

Charlie looked across in each direction as they reached the top of the staircase, wondering which way they should go next. He had to admit that this was all pretty cool, looking around the castle and not knowing what they might find. However, he may have had a slightly different thought if he'd seen the prefect walking past on their patrol at the bottom of the staircase, but for once he wasn't really worrying about getting into trouble, he was far too excited about what they might find. He peered down the left corridor, before quickly realising that Geovanny had already chosen what path they were taking and he ran after him.

"Really?" he exclaimed, catching up just in time to hear Geo's answer. He couldn't believe how much his friend had been able to explore. Admittedly he didn't know how big this town was, but it still sounded like an awful lot to Charlie. "No, never," Charlie shook his head at his new friend's question, "Well... I've explored my house, but that wasn't very interesting." He almost felt embarrassed that Geovanny had been able to explore so much further than him.

Re: Let's Be Friends [Fall 1994]

When Charlie admitted to having never really explored before Geo's mouth dropped open in shock and he stopped walking for a moment to look at the other. "Never?" he asked in complete shock. That was...that was just terrible! Geo would have to fix that. He'd have to ask Leith about some of the better places to explore since the other had been here longer than Geo. After a moment of just standing there looking at his new friend Geo started walking again, though he was still in shock. How could the boy be eleven years old and have never explored places other than his house? It was a crime! The blonde boy was sure of that. He made a promise to himself that he would show Char what he'd missed now that he knew.

Perhaps the other could even come to visit sometime during the summer and he could drag him around to explore. "We'll have to fix that," he finally said with a firm nod as he wrapped an arm around the other boy's shoulders, "so next time someone asked you about exploring you can tell them all sorts of adventures that you've been on." It wouldn't be to hard to drag Charlie with him so long as the other male didn't argue about it and try to ask a lot of questions about where they were going. Well even if he did he'd soon learn that Geo never really knew where he was going when he first started off and it was only a waste of breath to try and ask.

Charlie shook his head nervously at Geo's shock that he'd never been exploring before. He honestly didn't think that it was that strange - none of his friends had ever gone exploring outside of their homes before. In fact he wasn't sure whether many of them were interested in exploring at all. It just seemed like yet another difference between the two boys, and Charlie couldn't help but wonder why Geovanny was allowed to explore and he wasn't. It just didn't seem fair.

"Really?" Charlie looked across and smiled at Geo as he put an arm around his shoulders. "I mean, I'd love that. I've always wanted to explore places, I've just never been allowed to." He then turned away and looked all around the corridor, the castle was so massive that he wasn't sure if he'd ever be able to explore all of it. He would definitely try though.

"Come on," he said excitedly, breaking away from Geovanny and running down the corridor. He finally had the chance to go and explore somewhere new, and here he was just wasting it. He ran until he stopped at the end of the corridor, looking down at the different routes. "What way shall we go?" he asked Geo. He was the expert at this after all.

Re: Let's Be Friends [Fall 1994]

It was probably because Geovanny was so used to being able to do almost anything he wanted almost whenever he wanted, exploring included, that he was so surprised to hear that other kids didn't get to do the same thing.

When Charlie started talking about wanting to explore all of these places and not being allowed to Geovanny grinned. "Yes really," he said with a nod, "and we'll explore this whole castle before we graduate." It was probably a silly promise to make since there was probably no way that anyone could really explore the entire castle in only seven years. Especially when they would be going home for breaks in the summer and winter. Still it was a goal that Geovanny had made before he even got to the school and adding his new friend to it wouldn't be that hard. It just meant he'd need to pull someone else with him when he decided to go somewhere.

The blonde let out a small laugh when the other Hufflepuff suddenly pulled away from him and ran down the corridor. He quickly gave chase and stopped seconds before Charlie did. He looked at the different directions they could go before closing his eyes and spinning. He held his hand out so that when he stopped spinning it was pointing down the corridor on the far left. "That way," he decided before taking off down the corridor in question.
