Dumbledore is very tall, with a white beard that reaches past his shoulders, and long white hair that reaches past his shoulders as well. He has brilliant, electric blue eyes, the same as his brother.
He has a slightly disconnected smile, as though he is always thinking about something both half crazy and half brilliant. He has half-moon glasses, which he likes to peer over, in order to intimidate people, and because he thinks it’s fun.
He also has a very crooked, long nose, the crookedness a result of his brother punching him at their sister Ariana’s funeral. As a youth he favored clothes that were fairly conservative and neat, his taste in clothing mirrored his love of studying and learning.
Dumbledore began wearing glasses at a young age as well, which later became his trademark, as well as his long beard and electric blue eyes, which are said to see right through a person. Dumbledore still mostly favors conservative clothes, nothing too extravagant, although he does sometimes like to put a bit of a spin in his dress, such as wearing high heeled boots, a star patterned hat with matching robes.
Usually Dumbledore likes to let his beard and hair stay loose, as he finds cutting or restraining them a hassle, and is simply not interested in taking the time, plus, he has a certain fondness for his beard. In general, Dumbledore does not worry a great deal about his appearance, feeling that, while it is important to be presentable, one does not need to do much more.

Character Story
Personality: In essence, Dumbledore is a kind, caring man whose greatest love is teaching. Although brilliant, Dumbledore makes mistakes like everyone, perhaps his greatest flaw (when he was young) was his arrogance, and even now he can be a bit cocky at times. Still, he’s grown quite a bit humbler over the years, life has not been easy on Albus Dumbledore, the incident with Arianna, Grindelwald, and Aberforth is always at the edge of Dumbledore’s mind, and he wishes with all his heart that he could go back in time and prevent that terrible day from happening. It is an unhealed wound within him, which forces him to strive to be a better wizard. It drives him to fight for the helpless in a sort of atonement.
Dumbledore is a very powerful wizard. He is also all to aware of his own strength and at times afraid of it. For most of his adult life, Dumbledore’s energy has been directed at preventing the rise of Lord Voldemort, as a way to undo what he did when he was young. It is also because of what he did as a youth that Dumbledore believes in second chances so much. He tends to look for the good, rather than the bad, because he knows everyone has it in them the capacity to do good, sometimes they just need to be given the opportunity.

Personal History: Dumbledore was born on July 7th, 1881 in Mold-On-The-Would, the son of Percival Dumbledore, and Kendra Dumbledore. He had a younger brother, Aberforth, who was born two years after Albus, and a younger sister named Arianna. Dumbledore began displaying brilliance at a young age, when he managed to levitate a stack of enormous books he was interested in reading from the old bookshelf in the front hall.
When Albus was ten going on eleven, his sister was outside playing in the garden when several muggle boys stumbled on her performing magic. She was turning the colour of the rose bushes into green and blue instead of red and white, a simple trick, but something that terrified the muggle boys. They attacked her, jabbing her, poking her, calling her a freak. Percival came out to find the boys picking on a now terrified Arianna, and went ballistic. He hexed all of the boys, but he was too late to save Arianna. Percival was arrested and taken to Azkaban, where he was given a life sentence.
Immediately after Percival’s imprisonment, Kendra decided to leave Mould-on-the-Would, and move her family to Godric’s Hollow, where she hoped, no one would know about her husbands muggle hate crime.
Albus began his first year in Hogwarts with his father’s bad name hanging over him. He was sorted into Gryffindor, and tried to look past this and continue on in spite of it, and soon enough, he became known for his own name, not his father’s.
He quickly grew famous throughout Hogwarts for his quick wit and magical talent. He was favoured by Professor’s and students alike, since he was thoughtful and never quick to judge anyone. Everyone at Hogwarts was slightly dazzled by his brilliance, and he became something of a legend. When Albus began his third year, Aberforth began his first. The two brother’s were very different. Aberforth was much quicker to anger than Albus, and more likely to duel then settle things with a conversation or debate.
Immediately after his seventh year he was supposed to go on a wizarding tour of the world with his best friend Elphias Doge, but before he could (on the eve of their journey according to Doge) his mother, Kendra, was killed by his sister Arianna, who had become agitated and released a spurt of uncontrolled magic, killing Kendra. Dumbledore was left to take care of his sister, and his younger brother.
This began a new period for Dumbledore. He was a talented young wizard, and he’d suddenly been put in charge of his incapacitated sister, and his troublesome younger brother. He felt cooped up, unable to do anything useful or interesting.
Then he met Gellert Grindelwald, a young man with similar views and opinions to Albus. They got on very well, and became fast friends, as well as having a romantic relationship. Grindelwald was Dumbledore’s first love, as well as being one of his best friends. The two of them entertained ideas such as finding the Deathly Hallows, and restoring the ‘proper order’ to the world, making muggles serve wizards.
One day Aberforth came and confronted Albus because according to Aberforth, Albus hadn’t been paying Arianna any attention. The two of them got into an argument, both pulling out their wands. Grindelwald performed the Cruciatus curse on Aberforth, and Dumbledore, seeing his brother and friend fighting immediately intervened. Ariana, upset at the display of magic, tried to stop them, but the three young men got into a fight. Curses bounced around the room, and Albus couldn’t see what happened, but when the scene cleared, Ariana was dead, and Grindelwald had fled.
At Ariana’s funeral Aberforth confronted Albus, shouting that it was his fault that Ariana had been killed. It was then that he broke his older brother’s nose, as they fought at the side of Ariana’s grave.
After the incident with Grindelwald, Dumbledore applied for the Transfiguration position at Hogwarts, which he got. He was offered the position of Minister of Magic several times, but declined each time. While Dumbledore was at Hogwarts Grindelwald was building up an army in Europe, but Dumbledore didn’t challenge him. Finally in 1945, he faced Grindelwald and defeated his old friend, locking him in Nurmengard, and winning the Elder Wand from his foe.
While all this was going on, a young boy named Tom Riddle came to Hogwarts, quickly charming every professor, except for Dumbledore, who always viewed him with suspicion. In Riddles fifth year, the Chamber of Secrets was opened for the first time, and Hagrid was framed as the Heir of Slytherin, especially after a girl (Myrtle) was killed. While Dumbledore didn’t believe that Hagrid had done anything wrong, he could do nothing except convince Professor Dippet to keep Hagrid as the game keeper.
After Professor Dippet left, Dumbledore was offered the post of headmaster, which he took, feeling that he would rather spend his life teaching than become the Minister of Magic.
Albus focused on scholarly topics, having decided to avoid politics in favor of discoveries such as the twelve uses of dragons blood. He explored alchemy with Nicolas Flammel as well. In the thirties, he took a position as Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts. In 1938, a boy named Tom Riddle was accepted into Hogwarts. Although, Dumbledore sought to help the boy, he quickly grew worried over the boy's fascination with gaining power and of wizard supremacy. He watched with worry as Lord Voldemort rose to power and remained the only wizard that Tom ever feared.
Then, years after Voldemort’s rise, Dumbledore heard the prophecy about the boy born at the end of July. Dumbledore attempted to help the Potter’s but his warnings were not taken seriously enough. Finally Voldemort found where the Potters were hiding and killed James and Lily, his attempt on Harry’s life backfired, leaving Voldemort weaker than ever before.
Dumbledore took this brief rest bit with relief, although he knew the Dark Lord would be back one day, he kept to himself, and focused on Hogwarts.
In Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts, Dumbledore was given the Philosopher’s Stone by his friend and collaborator, Nicolas Flamel, in order to protect it from anyone who might wish to steal it. Of course Voldemort did try to steal the stone, although Harry was able to prevent him from doing so, escaping from the Dark Lord again.
In Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, the Chamber of Secrets was reopened. This was particularly difficult for Dumbledore, since some believed that he was not effective in preventing the attacks on muggle borns (which was utter rubbish), and he was forced to leave the school for a time. However, he was able to assist Harry from afar, sending Fawkes to give him the sorting hat and sword, which helped him to destroy the young Tom Riddle.
The third year was the most harrowing for Dumbledore, he knew that Voldemort was getting stronger, but the criminal Sirius Black, was also on the loose, a known servant of Voldemorts. Not only that, but Remus Lupin the werewolf came to teach at Hogwarts, and Dumbledore had a hard time getting approval for that (why they couldn’t just get along.) especially from Lupin’s old rival, Snape. At the end of the year, when Harry explained what happened to Dumbledore, the pieces immediately fit, and Dumbledore believed Harry’s story. He was in contact with Sirius after that, but could not prevent Pettigrew from going to his old master; Voldemort.
Sample Post: A distinctive tapping sound could be heard clearly in the office, even though it was far too early for any sensible person to be up. The portaits muttered, some of them jerking awake to stare sternly down from their posts on the wall, some of them simply muttering in their sleep and attempting to ignore the persistent sound that was coming from the tall gray haired man who was staring out the dark window, his expression impassive, although there was more than a hint of sadness in those brilliant blue eyes.
Dumbledore turned from the window, surveying his dark office. With a small sigh he sat down at his desk and began to consider a long memo in front of him from Fudge, attempting to force some new nonsense down his throat about sending over a Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher, “because by any normal standards your students are being woefully misinformed about this particular branch of magic.” Dumbledore read, his expression growing darker by the second. All this nonsense about punishing Hogwarts for what he was saying, it was ridiculous and unfair. Unfortunately there was nothing Dumbledore could technically do about it.
Dipping his quill into the ink and considering whether it was prudent to tell Fudge that he could dress up a toad and let it croak to the students, it would be better than any teacher Fudge could possibly send. Sighing once more, but more deeply this time, Dumbledore put his quill to paper, writing, (perhaps a bit more kindly) than what he would have wished to write. Beginning to wonder what was for breakfast, since he was rather looking forward to some toast, Dumbledore pushed his half moon spectacles up the bridge of his nose before looking out the large window to see the sun peeking up over the horizon, and smiling in satisfaction. Breakfast time.
