Continued from: Be right beside me, but I might kick you

"Oh, congratulations," Loanne said, faking an excited voice. "You know, I wouldn't be able to do that. These damsels tend to be so endlessly annoying, I think I'd let them drown, or feed them to the dragon or whatever. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't do that?" Her voice was getting lower with every word she spoke, and went from the joking tone at the beginning of her words to a pretty... seductive one. If Loanne was even able to make such a sound... The girl swam a bit closer to him, her eyes locked with his. Then a smirk got onto her face again, as she reached out and poked her finger on his forehead. "I'm really really glad our roles aren't swapped," she said, now mildly laughing again.

The next words she spoke, however, those she didn't think about at all. Or well, at least she didn't realize what hidden comment there was in them. "So if I had children of a Swiss man, would they be part dolphin, too?" She chuckled, tilting her head and continuing to look at him.

"Well, I'm a little more patient than that. I have to be in order to deal with damsels like yourself," he replied, trying to sound joking, although her change of tone was confusing him a bit. Her voice had gone from teasingly enthusiastic to... flirtatious. It was mildly disarming, and also more than a little peculiar. Was Loanne actually flirting with him? He narrowed his eyes a bit suspiciously as she stepped closer to him, not because he was opposed to her flirting with him, but because he was about 90% convinced that she was just messing with him. And the sad part was, she was kind of succeeding. "I'm glad, too. It's a difficult job - I don't think I'd ever trust you with it, especially if you'd just let those poor damsels be eaten."

He grinned now, more at ease as she went back to her careless joking. "I'm not sure," he said, smirking as he pretended to think about it. "Is this just a way of you trying to say that you want to have my children?"

"You're not patient, you're just scared of the terrible revenge of some evil damsel ghost. They aren't all that bad, you know. You can just walk straight through them. Try throwing things at them, it's fun." No, Loanne had never thrown something at a ghost. Which could sound surprising but well, there's always room for suprises with Loanne, right? No matter, she laughed about the words she said and tapped his forehead again. Why she did it, she had no idea. But it was fun and why should she stop? He didn't seem to mind as he didn't say anything about it.

"It's not just the damsels I'd feed to that poor hungry dragon. I'd throw the shining knights in right after the girls. Because those super-chivalrous idiots are just as bad." She nodded, then scratched her own forehead. Why the hell was it tickling like this?

Loanne showed a teasing face as he asked whether she was indicating that she wanted his babies. "Children? With you? Have you drunk too much of this water? Dude, there's loads of better guys to have sex without protection with in the world. Loads of guys who aren't part-time-jobbing as knights." Of course her words weren't serious, but it wasn't so obvious from her tone. Ah, she failed when it came to proper boy-girl-interaction.

"I haven't let a damsel die yet, and I don't intend to. You might be able to throw things through them, but you can't make 'em go away." Leon hadn't ever really talked to a ghost, let alone thrown things at one, but what did that matter, really? "I'm just afraid one day I'll let one of them die, and they'll end up like you. Then I'd be haunted and have to deal with that annoyance forever." He swatted her hand away from his head, which she seemed to have some obsession with tapping. Weirdo.

Leon grimaced. He was quite sure he was the exact type of 'super-chivalrous idiot' that Loanne would want to feed to a dragon. "Nothing wrong with a little chivalry," he muttered defensively.

Okay, now that stung a little. Not that Leon had been expecting her to gush about how she wanted to sleep with him or anything, but he hadn't expected her to sound so freaking serious in her denial. Yes, he had been expecting sarcasm and skepticism, but not that harsh, even if she might have been joking. As a teenage boy, that was a little bit of a blow to his ego. But he didn't show that. He just smirked. "I'd be a little scared for your children anyway," was the best comeback he could come up with.

Loanne was confused. "Did I say you let a damsel die?" The confusion was clearly visible in her face, as she paddled her arms and tilted her head to look at him, so one of her ears touched the surface of the water. "Hey! What do you mean, they'd end up like me? Try throwing things through my chest! I'm no ghost. I'm not dead, thank you," she said and put on a faked look of anger, of being hurt and disappointed. She moved her head quickly away from the tipped position and her hair flew through the air and splashed water everywhere. Then, without another word, the girl turned around and swam back to the border of the lake, before she climbed out and lay down in the grass.

She didn't hear him mutter, but she heard the other words he said. "Oh, I won't have children, so there's no need to be scared," she explained, continuing to use that somewhat hurt, somewhat angry voice. As if she was some ... girl. And no, of course the stupid girl didn't realize she'd hurt him in a way. Especially not as she hadn't meant anything of what she'd said. Well, she didn't really want to have children, that was true, but he was as good as anybody to have children with. No, he was probably better.

"How else do you get damsel ghosts? By letting them live?" he asked with mild sarcasm. He wasn't entirely sure why she looked so baffled. She was the one who had brought up the damsel ghosts, and as far as he knew, a person had to die to become a ghost. He rolled his eyes. "I didn't mean they'd end up like you because you're dead or something. I meant they'd end up like you, always annoying me." That wasn't much nicer of a thing to say, but he was mostly kidding. He grumbled under his breath as she splashed water into his face, and as he wiped it out of his eyes he didn't see her swim away. By the time he looked around, she was already on the shore. With a faint sigh he trudged after her.

He collapsed on the grass beside Loanne, shaking some of the water out of his hair before laying down. "Thank Merlin for that," he replied, his tone more teasing, as if he were actually worried that he had managed to hurt her feelings. He pictured little Loannes running around, five-year-olds with flaming hair and mischievous intentions... Yes, perhaps it was good that Loanne didn't want kids. But, than again, maybe the world would be a more entertaining place if there were more people like Loanne. Leon certainly enjoyed her company enough.

"Oh, I'm sorry for being such an annoyance," she replied bitchily, turning her head away from him in the best girly way she could. At this point it was hard for Loanne not to fall into a rather huge fit of laughter, but she wasnted to find out how far she could push him with this behavior. How he would react. And whether he would snap at some point, and if he did, how that would look like.

"Maybe you should just go, Leon Montagne." Her voice was still sounding angry, but there was a certain feel of sadness in it. As if she had just realized that, no matter how much she wanted it, he wasn't the right guy for her. Dude, Loanne was proud on this act! This was it; if he didn't freak out now, she'd honestly think he was made of stone. or something like that. At least it would mean he was very, very weird.

Leon was more than a little surprised at Loanne's very sharp change of voice. He had thought she was just messing around, simply pretending to sound angry and offended to make him feel bad. But now he actually did feel bad. Hadn't his parents always told him to never insult a woman? It was only then that it dawned on him how completely he had forgotten his manners in the past few hours. Oh, his father would have killed him right then if he had seen how Leon had been acting.

At Loanne's words he sat up, suddenly very, very angry at himself. And maybe he was just a little bit angry at Loanne, simply for switching moods so unpredictably, but mostly it was self-aimed. "I'm sorry, Loanne," he said quietly, and then shoved himself off the ground. He stood a moment beside the red-haired girl, running his hands through his tangled hair, fumbling through words. "I... didn't... was..." Leon Montagne, always composed, always stringing together perfectly eloquent sentences, couldn't form a thought. He shook his head. "I was joking. Just... sorry. That was too far."

As hard as it had been not to start laughing before, now it was nearly impossible. Loanne was madly proud on herself for managing to keep her mouth shut. The thing that creeped her out, however, was that she felt bad for a moment. He was feeling bad, that was obvious. And he didn't have to, instead she was the one who'd been messing with his head the whole day long. It was easy to do that, so it was partly his fault, but she was the evil person who'd been doing it. Ah. Her senses for good and bad were kicking her right now.

As he got up from the floor, she was quick to do the same thing. Loanne bit her lower lip as she looked at him, unsure of what to say. It was one of the rare moments that she was actually sorry. Instead of saying just this, though, the crazy girl went and hugged him rather hardly. "Look Leon, you should learn not to take girls' anger seriously. If you ignore them, they'll get tired of messing with you." Well, she wasn't so sure about that, at least not with herself. "Well, hopefully."

Leon was simply shocked when Loanne stood up and, rather than punching him like he thought she was going to, she hugged him. He stood stupefied momentarily before tentatively hugging her back, a little beyond confused. Was she saying that she had only been joking? What the freaking hell was wrong with her? He was kind of angry about that, but instead of shoving her away, he hugged her closer for just a second. Yeah, he couldn't explain it either.

He didn't actually find much helpful about her little piece of wisdom, but with his voice gaining back its usual certainty, he replied anyway, "Thanks for the advice. And I have some for you: Don't screw with people like that so much, or else they really will get tired of messing with you, and then you won't have anyone to entertain you."

Loanne bit her lip as he returned the favor of giving out some advice. Well, yeah, some piece of her, deep inside and hidden behind loads of craziness and anger, knew that she was often going too far and that it was only a matter of time before everyone would start to ignore her. She knew it. Still, whenever the chance came, Loanne ignored it. Not really purposefully, but she did. And with that pushed everyone farther away. It was quite sad, this girl.

At this moment, however, despite what Leon had said, the German girl's sentimentality was hidden in some dark, slimy place. And had no chance to kick her. Thankfully she was feeling rather humorous, though, and joking about herself was at least a little appropriate in this particular situation. Not the best way to reply, really, but better than more words of pretending or anything.

"I should've asked Dadday to go and buy a better brain for me," she said, putting her head down on his shoulder because she felt like it. "And a better heart."

Leon was oddly glad that she didn't move away from him after the hug, and he smiled as she rested head on his shoulder. Standing by a lake, dripping wet from a sunset swim, with his arms wrapped around a pretty girl, it should have made a pretty romantic scene. Except, of course, this was crazy Loanne, and just thinking the word 'romantic' while around her made Leon afraid of being mentally slapped or something.

"I think your brain and heart are in pretty good working order," he chuckled, tapping the back of her head with a finger. "But maybe you should ask your daddy to stuff in a little more common sense to that head of yours. It would do you good."

"It probably would," Loanne agreed, letting her head stay where it was, because his shoulder was rather comfortable to rest a head on. Lovely, hm? The girl sighed, thinking. She wasn't even sure what she was really thinking about, but this whole situation was really, really freaky in some strange, non-understandable way. She liked it, though. This had been a real good day, and most definitely way better than anything she would've done, hadn't she left the house this morning. It was amazing how much a simple decision could change, really.

Leon didn't reply, because for just a moment, he wanted to stand there in silence. It had probably been the single weirdest, craziest, wackiest, most adventurous day of his life, thanks to this redheaded wild child. And maybe his parents would scream at him when he got back late and soaking wet, and demand to know where he had been and what he had been doing, but Leon wouldn't tell them. He just wanted to remember today for himself, and his parents could think whatever they wanted. Chances were he'd never see Loanne again, and he'd never have a day like this again. It was best to savor it while it lasted; you only got one opportunity to meet someone like Loanne Parker.

And then he grinned, saying, "But actually, I like you just how you are."

Loanne thought this was getting way too cheesy. And since she couldn't accept that, it was time for a change. She took a few steps backwards, getting some distance between them. A serious expression was in her face as she looked at him, from head to feet. Then, very slowly, a grin broke onto her lips and you could sense the danger geting back to life inside of her.

"I bet you never spent a night with some girl you'd just met that day," she said, provokingly, grinning and pulling at her hair-band to let her hair fall loosely down her back. It wasn't a flirty move, but the red locks needed to dry or she would catch a cold. Ah, who was she kidding here? Of course it was a flirty move. The hair-band was quickly around her wrist, but she still didn't walk any closer to him. Instead, she laughed, randomly, musing about where the hell she might steal a tent.

You can sure as hell bet Leon had never spent the night with any girl, let alone one that he'd only just met. He stared at her with wide eyes, wondering if she was actually serious, and what exactly she met by "spend the night." It probably was not what he was imagining, but come on, he had some right to imagine those implications.

"You'd win that bet." He swallowed, incapable of tearing his gaze away from her hair, the red dark with water and falling over her shoulders and back. He shook his head, trying to gain back some of the focus she had so easily stolen away, and began thinking practically. His parents would panic and go searching for him if he didn't show up at the hotel, and in the morning, when he went back, they'd subject him to every tortuous lecture, scolding, and punishment they knew...

Screw it all. He wanted to spend the night with Loanne.

"I knew I would," Loanne said simply, shrugging her shoulders, then grinning once more. She tipped her index finger against her chin, still thinking about how she could build them a somewhat comfortable bed, or whatever, to sleep in. If they slept at all. No, stop thinking that way! Loanne simply managed to keep most of her friends awake the whole night by just coming up with new crazy ideas everytime they dared to yawn.

"Dang it, we'll just take the grass," she spoke, ending her thoughts, deciding they didn't need stuff like tents or sleeping bags or other camping utensils. The grass was just right to sleep on, and there hadn't been anything about rain in the weather forecast. Or well, so she thought. Or had there? Honestly, the girl had no clue about the most recent weather forecast. After all, she'd had to step outside to notice it was raining.

Leon was starting to realize that she was completely serious about this. He had no idea what she was thinking about, because he was still fixating on her hair and the slightly indecent thoughts that he knew no proper gentleman should ever be thinking about in the first place. But apparently she had been thinking about where and how they were going to sleep, as she announced that they'd simply sleep on the grass.

If he had been of age he would have conjured up some blankets or pillows or something, but as it turned out he was only 16, and therefore couldn't use any magic without being caught. "Okay," he agreed with a shrug, still surprised with himself that he was even doing this. "It's warm enough."

Loanne pointed her finger at him when he agreed to the sleeping on the grass, showing a grimace like some old sailor. "Yes, it is. But still it's disappointing that we don't have the utensils for a nice pillow fight," she spoke, dropping the sailor-act somewhere in between the words and getting thoughtful again. Her hand was back in her face, though on her cheek this time, squeezing it. And no, Loanne didn't realize she was doing that and looking ridiculous.

"Yes, quite disappointing," he replied sarcastically. "How on earth will I survive now that I'm not able to hit you with a piece of fabric filled with feathers?" He decided about halfway through his sentence that he was tired of standing there with Loanne about two feet away and so took a seat on the grass once more. He glanced around, wondering where exactly he had set his clothes, because he had a sort of dawning realization that he wasn't wearing much more than his underwear. He had sort of stopped minding, but the wetness was getting to him.

No matter how silly he thought it was, Loanne was honestly bothered by the fact that they wouldn't get to do a pillow fight. If she had had any trust in her memory, she would've made a mental note to herself to stalk his house sometime and hit him with a pillow, but since her memory was about as good as that of a pear..

Now they were here, next to that lake, in their soaked underwear, and had nothing to do. It was frustrating, really. The nothing-to-do part more than the rest of it. So when Leon sat down, Loanne did a handstand and then let herself fall to the ground, too. Rather softly, as she didn't want to break her neck. "So, what's your favorite band?" Asking questions was about the lamest thing Loanne'd ever heard of, but the music topic was at least interesting.

Re: Be right beside me, but I might kick you (Cuxhaven, Germ

Postby Leon Montagne » Sat Jun 25, 2011 4:12 pm

"My favorite band?" he repeated. He had never really thought about it. Leon didn't listen to a whole lot of music, mostly because his parents didn't care for it very much. He had grown up with almost nothing but classical music, so that was what he was used to. "Uh..." Loanne was into music, though. Whatever he said probably wasn't going to go over well with her. But it wasn't like he could make something up; he didn't know any bands.

With a shrug he finally said, "I don't know, really. I usually only listen to classical music. Not a lot of bands." And then, despite knowing that Loanne would have quite a different answer, he asked, "What about you?"

When Leon replied to her question, Loanne literally slapped her palm against her forehead and let herself fall back into the grass dramatically, as if she'd knocked herself out. Was he being serious? By the look of it, he probably was. And really, was his listening to classical music that surprising? She scowled, remembering the kiss on the hand.

"Wow, how very exciting," she mumbled, sitting back up with her legs crossed. "Oh, me? Well, I'm not quite into classical music, let me tell you," she said, grinning teasingly, even if she didn't really blame him. So they didn't have the same taste of music. What was that about individuality? "I'm into bands like .. Queen, Led Zeppelin, Oasis.. That kind of stuff."

Leon couldn't honestly say he hadn't been expecting a reaction like that. He grinned to himself as she fell back onto the grass, clearly appalled by his horribly outdated taste in music. To each their own, he figured, although maybe he should start finding some more current music to take an interest in. Classical music wasn't exactly the most popular sort of music anymore.

"Yeah, for some reason, I never pictured you as the classical music type." She was definitely the rock and roll sort, which she confirmed with the muggle bands she listed. "I like Queen. Bohemian Rhapsody and all that." He hadn't listened to a heck of a lot of Queen, per say, but what he had heard he enjoyed.

"Well, that comes as a surprise. I thought it was totally obvious that I'm into classics," she said, a quite obvious tone of sarcasm in her voice. It made her remember a rather weird conversation with some German dude in Hogsmeade's The Hog's Head, back when she'd been in Hogwarts for a year, over classical music and how she was an unbelievably stupid child. Ah, it had been quite amusing.

"Yush, Queen's amazing! They really, really rock. There's thousands of other great bands, but I'm too lazy to list them all. You should really check out my music collection, and start listening to some real music," she said, unable to stop herself from discriminating his taste.
