I Was Worried!

To say that Kiyoshi Ngai was in something of a bad mood would be putting things very mildly indeed. A few days ago, his older brother Teruki had been hospitalized after a nasty Quidditch injury, and yet no one had seen any need to inform Kiyoshi of what was going on. Nori had known of course, and had been there within the hour to look after their brother, but no - no one had bothered to tell Kiyoshi. Apparently the only bit of information that he needed to know was that Teruki would be returning today, and needless to say he had felt quite put out.

But he was not going to be put aside today, for now he was waiting quietly by the entrance to the campus, staring at the gates through which Teruki would soon be passing. He would see his brother today, and find out whether or not he was okay.

Teruki had never thought that he would see the day when he would be happy to be back at school. He supposed that he probably never would have seen the day had he not been put in the hospital just days before. The sixteen year old had learned rather quickly just why Nori didn't like them. He let out a small shudder at the thought of that cold, white room and his eyes narrowed just thinking about the mean healer who had been there when he woke up. Teru believed that the worst part was that they had refused to contact anyone in his family and if it hadn't been for Kyo-kun he probably would have been stuck there alone without anyone knowing he was there.

The teen let out a small sigh as he stopped right outside the gates. Nori had been the one to escort him back to school and his older brother was doing last minute fussing over him before he headed back. "I'm fine Nori-chan," he told the older male as he swatted at the hands messing with his hair and such, "I'll owl you later to let you know that I'm fine." He then left the older Ngai child outside the gates of the school as he entered.

Kiyoshi's ears pricked up when he heard a familiar voice, immediately registering that it was Teruki who was talking even if he could not locate his brother just yet, nor make out what it was that was being said. He remained seated though, waiting for Teruki to finally show himself, and smiling with a rather grim sense of relief when the boy walked through the gates a moment later, looking a bit worse for wear, but unharmed on the whole. "Teru-Chan!" Kiyoshi said excitedly, unable to contain his joy at seeing his older brother safe and sound, and flinging his arms around the older boy. Kiyoshi was a bit overly-expressive, and very hyperactive, and sometimes he overreacted a bit...like right now.

His head still hurt just a little, but he had been assured before he was allowed to leave that it was going to hurt. Really for all the healers knew he might continuously have headaches like the one he currently had; they wouldn't know for a few more days at least. He had thought that he would have a little more time upon arriving at the school to get settled in (and hopefully by the time he had to face other people his headache would be gone). So it came as a small shock when he suddenly had arms flung around him and someone calling his name. His arms wrapped around the person who was hugging him before his mind caught up with what was going through.

"Kiyo-chan," he said with a small smile, "surprise seeing you here. Were you waiting on someone?" He had forgotten that his younger brother wouldn't have known what had happened unless someone decided to tell him and Teru hadn't been able to send him an owl because he had been stuck in the bed and not allowed up unless it was to relieve himself. And he was pretty sure that Nori hadn't bothered to inform anyone because the older male had stayed by his side almost his entire stay at the hospital.

Kiyoshi laughed weakly at Teruki's question and replied "Of course Teru-Chan, I was waiting for you!" Honestly, and everyone said that he was the silly one! "How are you? Where did you get hurt? Why didn't you tell me? Did it hurt that bad? How is Nori? Did you see him? Are you gonna miss any school?" the questions tumbled out of his mouth before he could stop them, and Kiyoshi finally paused long enough to draw breath and look at Teruki expectantly.

He probably could have laughed at his brother's bombardment of questions if he knew it wouldn't make his head hurt worse. "Where am I supposed to start in answering that bunch of questions?" he inquired thoughtfully before trying to start at the beginning of the list. "I'm fine, perhaps a small headache, but other than that fine. If you can trust what the healer told me it was a bludger incident. It hit me in the back of the head and knocked me off my broom...which is probably why they sent me to the hospital, but I can't remember any of that or why I was on my broom in the first place so I couldn't tell you if that's the truth or not."

Teru was still receiving small, blurred images that floated away as soon as he tried to focus on them and so he couldn't be sure if he had been on a broom or what, but he supposed whoever had sent him there would have told the healers what had happened so they could fix him. The question about why he hadn't told his brother made the older boy feel bad. "I'm sorry for not telling you Kiyo-chan," he whispered, "I would have told you if I had been conscious before they sent me off. I tried to get the healer to contact you once I woke up, but they wouldn't contact anyone. If it wasn't for Kyo-kun owling Nori-chan I probably wouldn't have had him there either."

As the questions moved away from his injury and onto things that were normally talked about in conversations he relaxed a little more. "Nori's doing fine as far as I could tell, but then again we really didn't talk much about how he was doing. He was more interested in fussing over me and asking me how I was doing every two seconds. The only school I'm going to be missing is what I've already missed. It's the whole reason I'm back here now...to make sure I don't miss to much." He then looked at his brother with a raised eyebrow. "Now, who told you about me being hurt in the first place and how much did they tell you?"

Kiyoshi blushed at Teruki's query of how he was even to start answering all of those questions, and replied very quietly "Just...tell me." He wanted to know whether his brother was okay already, not have to listen to another silly comment about the volume of questions that he had asked. Of course, when Teruki explained that he had gotten hurt playing Quidditch, Kiyoshi winced understandably. Kiyoshi had never been very good at Quidditch, and nearly always ewnded up hurting himself when he tried to play the broomstick game.

He listened to the rest of Teruki's response, and when he asked how Kiyoshi knew what had happened the boy replied "Kyo-Kun told me, I guess Nori asked him to or something, or maybe he just thought to do it on his own." That was probably it, Kyo was very thoughtful like that after all. "As for what he told me, all I knew was that you were hurt and in the hospital."

Teruki should have known that Kyo-kun had been the one to write his younger brother about his little incident, even if the older male had conveniently left out why he was in the hospital. After all the healer had been the one to contact Nori about his problem when the other healers had refused. He would never admit it, but he was sort of glad that his younger brother hadn't been told what the problem was and hadn't been brought to see him at the hospital. He would have hated for Kiyo-chan to see him when he looked as bad as he had. "Well then I suppose I'll owe Kyo-kun more than I already did then," he told his brother with a small sigh, "he's the one who informed Nori-chan about my situation."

"Well good for Nyo-Kun then!" Kiyoshi replied, glad that he had made sure that there was someone there for Teruki when he was in the Hospital. "I just wish that someone could have gotten me so that I could have come to see you too." But no, one again Kiyoshi was left out. No one bothered to let Kiyoshi know about what was going on, no one thought to include Kiyoshi, no one thought to bring Kiyoshi along! No, as usual, he got left behind while everyone else was off elsewhere.

Teru was glad to hear that his brother had wanted to come visit him while he was in the hospital, but then again glad he hadn't been able to. It wasn't that he liked leaving his brother out of things because he knew how it felt; it was just that sometimes it was better to be left out than let in and this had been one of those times. "If I would have had to stay any longer than just a few days then I would have sent Nori-chan to bring you to visit," he told his brother, "but since I wasn't going to be there for longer than a few days it was apparently thought better for you to stay here." Not that Teruki had had any say in bringing any of his family to him while he had been confined to the hospital room, but he liked to believe that Nori would have done as he asked and brought Kiyo-chan for a visit.

"Right..." Kiyoshi replied, though he remained unconvinced. It had seemed like quite a long time to him, and yet no one had bothered to come and get him. Were it not for Kyo, he would not have even known what was going on - but it seemed that no one seemed too bothered by that fact. "Well...I'm just glad that you're back now." Kiyoshi said quietly.

Any other time Teruki might have tried a little harder to make sure that his brother understood that he hadn't intentionally been left out of the whole thing, but this time Teru's head was hurting and he really wasn't in the mood to push the topic when Kiyo seemed to understand. "I'm glad to be back," he assured his younger brother and reached out to ruffle the boy's hair before allowing his arm to drop to his side. "Did I miss anything interesting while I was gone?" he asked in an attempt to change the subject.

Kiyoshi was still upset, but he did his best not to let his brother know it as he shook his head and replied "No, nothing that's really that interesting anyways." Just the daily goings on of Mahoutokoro really, and Kiyoshi highly doubted that his brother needed - or wanted - to hear all of that rattled off for him.

Kiyoshi was right in thinking that Teruki didn't want to hear about the usual going on's of the school. The sixteen year old had held out some hope that something interesting might have happened, but really wasn't surprised to hear that nothing had happened. "School just seems to be getting more and more boring," he told his brother. His head gave a particularly sharp throb and he winced, reaching up to gently rub the sore place in his head. Even if the healers had healed his head it still hurt.

Kiyoshi shrugged and replied "I guess, but it's still more interesting than home." Kiyoshi, though a Third Year, was still very much in the wide-eyed-puppy stage of his time at Mahoutokoro, and so he could not even begin to consider the possibility that the school was not the most interesting place on the face of the earth. When Teruki winced though, Kiyoshi noticed immediately, and his eyes widened with concern as he asked "Are you alright Teru-Chan?"

He really couldn't argue with his brother on that point. Most things were more interesting than home because home was just...home. Sure their parents and brother were there, but it wasn't a building full of magic children trying to learn things. At his brother's concern the teen smiled and nodded just slightly because the movement made his head hurt. "I'm fine," he whispered, "just a little pain."

Kiyoshi frowned when Teruki said that he was still in a little pain, and he looked at his brother in concern before demanding "Where does it hurt?" He wasn't exactly sure how, but he was going to make Teruki's pain go away. He just hadn't quite worked out how yet - but no mistake about it, he was going to figure it out one way or another.

The teen looked at his brother in slight amusement when the demanded to know where his head hurt. Any other time Teruki might have teased the boy about his worry, but his sore head made Teruki come off as a bit nicer than usual. "Around the spot I got hit," he replied as he dropped his hand from the back of his head where he had been lightly rubbing on the spot in hopes of making it stop hurting.

Kiyoshi peered around at the back of Teruki's head and frowned before finally wrapping his big brother up in a hug and saying "There, I'll make it all better Teru-Chan!" Hugs made everything better, and Kiyoshi was happy to be able to help his older brother by giving him a big hug to make the pain go away. After all, Teruki shouldn't be in pain.

When his brother hugged him again the teen blinked, but returned it. He smiled slightly at the younger's words and just nodded along. He didn't have the heart to tell his brother that hugs didn't really make it better and that his head still hurt. He would just have to wait until the two had parted before going to lay down or something. What was it the doctor had told him? Something about when he started getting a headache to lay down or was it to take a pain reliever? Whatever he'd worry about it later when he could be in pain and not worry about his brother worrying about him. "Thanks Kiyo-chan," he whispered.

Kiyoshi smiled at Teruki and said "You should probably rest - just to make sure that you're super-better!" Of course, Kiyoshi thought that his hug had made Teruki better, but he did not want to take any chances when it came to his big brother. After all, he most certainly did not want anything to happen to his beloved older brother.

"That sounds like a good idea," Teruki agreed. It was a good excuse to slip away from the younger boy and head up to the dorm for a nap or something. "I think that's what I'm gonna do. I'll see you later Kiyo-chan," he told his brother. He then stepped past the younger male and continued his trip into the school, absently patting his brother on the head as he passed him.

"Okay." Kiyoshi said, happy that Teruki was going to get some rest. "I'll talk to you later Teru-Chan!" he gave his brother one last big hug before parting, as he shouted "Love you!" and ran off to go find Akio, hopefully his friend would be able to think of something fun to do.
