Appearance: She stands on the shorter end of the scale, at about 5'4''. Her slim-average body is typically covered up by casual clothing, such as jeans and baggy t-shirts. At school, she prefers to wear boys' pants over the girls' skirt and long socks, but she isn't ever mistaken for a boy due to her fairly long, slightly wavy chestnut hair, which usually falls about her face and shoulders in a messy sort of way. She looks at the world through curious, wide hazel eyes and never minds getting her canvas trainers dirty.

Character Story
Personality: Sam is tough, in some respects; she prefers to be just one of the guys. "Girly" traits usually don't come naturally to her, although on occasion she does get quite emotional. She can be stubborn and rash - likely traits which landed her in Gryffindor rather than Ravenclaw. She loves exploring and going on adventures just as much (well, more) than she enjoys learning and trying new types of magic. Although she loves spending her time with people and tries to be around someone almost constantly, she has trouble paying attention and her mind tends to wander. Loyal and willing to jump in to a fight (a habit she learned from her older brother and cousin), she strives to be a positive asset to any adventure.

Personal History:
Sam didn't really cope with her parents' expectations as a child. Her father is the head of Magical Games and Sports in the Ministry of Magic, and her mother used to be an editor for the Daily Prophet until her third child, Sam's younger (and more proper) sister, after which she retired to stay at home with the children. A high-end family, her parents wanted her to learn to conform and be a good young lady with manners and respect for other peoples' gardens. Of course, that didn't turn out too well, and at age 8 she was sent to boarding school with other privileged girls. Being constantly surrounded by girls finally proved too much for her and Sam packed a small bag and ran away. She nearly drowned in a river and was rescued. She was sent home and finished her elementary schooling with her less wealthy cousins in a comprehensive school.
Aged 11, she received her Hogwarts letter and was sent away from her rich wizarding town with only a few sad faces. She was sorted into Gryffindor instead of the family favorite, Ravenclaw. Her older brother, Patrick, was a Ravenclaw fifth year at the time.
At age 13, she was given the opportunity to play for the Gryffindor quidditch team as a beater. She was hesitant to take it, though, on account of a few upperclassmen who had begun to bully her for getting the position over them. However, after playing her first match, she knew she couldn't be bullied out of it.
She had initially desired to become a healer after school, but that dream fell short with her grades and attention span in Potions and Herblogy class. Although she enjoyed learning about healing charms and spells, her fancies soon became aligned with defensive and protective spells. She wasn't sure quite where that would take her, but didn't put too much worry in trying to decide just then.
After leaving Hogwarts, Samara traveled the world with a close friend for a year. Then she had her first job with dragon tamers at the Dragon Sanctuary in Romania, where her defensive magic came in handy every day. She stayed there for a year and a half and then returned to England for a summer vacation which turned permanent. She picked up a part-time job at a muggle cafe and when she wasn't working, she was training with an off-the-books group of wizards whose job it was to be travel companions and bodyguards for wealthy figures.
Several weeks after she turned 21, however, the group was broken apart by the Witch Watchers. She was held in temporary confinement and upon questioning, was offered a pardon as long as she joined the Hit Wizards branch of Magical Law Enforcement - which of course she took them up on. She continued to work there until retirement at the age of 67.
Samara married in her twenties and had one child, and later adopted another.

Sam slumped through the portrait hole, sore, soaking wet, and generally pretty run-down. It was nearly curfew; she'd just made it. She sank wearily into one of the comfy armchairs by the fireplace, dropping her bag on the ground. She'd get to her Potions essay in a minute. "Argh, my back...darn cat...lavatory...." she muttered to the fireplace.
It was just then that she realized that she wasn't alone in the common room. She turned around to see who it was.
