Life Is About Teaching Lessons [Bulgarian Ministry]

Postby Lichtendahl Klein » Sat May 05, 2012 1:05 pm

Lichtendahl sometimes liked trying to create festivities withi the Ministry. So he was preparing the place for a small celebration tomorrow for St George's Day. It was a public holiday in the Muggle world of the country, so why not celebrate it in the magical world? It didn't help having holidays from time to time, it helped raise spirits to push through the rest of the year.

Lichty had left his office just to wander the halls of the Ministry. He was actually trying to find one of his children. Usually it was easy to find his kids, they were all over the place. You couldn't walk five feet without running into Petya, who was usually hitting on the girls, or Ioan, who was usually running around trying to figure out every muggle item that came through the Ministry's doors.

But it seemed like today none of his children wanted to be found, and it was rather annoying. The Minister of Magic just sighed and crossed his arms. Now who did he want to try and look for? Certainly not his Advisor nor his Undersecretaries. He needed someone not close to his side.

Petya let out a small, depressed sigh as he walked away from the secretary he had been hitting on for the past ten minutes. She had been acting like she liked his advances, but then some guy had shown up and chased Petya off. Apparently she had a boyfriend and just liked the attention that she was getting from him. "Stupid secretary," he muttered as he walked down the halls. As usual he had forgone the wizarding robes and was walking around in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. His hands were shoved in his pockets and he walked, not really paying attention to where he was going.

He was still grumbling about the loss and the fact that he'd been chased off by the woman's boyfriend when he suddenly glanced up. For a second he thought he was seeing things when he saw his dad standing there (which really wasn't surprising since his dad was the minister of magic and worked here and all). "Uh...hey dad," he greeted, raising a hand in greeting.

Lichty was quite surprised when Petya appeared. He didn't know if he even wanted to know where his son was coming from. He probably wouldn't hear that his son was handing in some paperwork and was heading off to do something important. It never seemed like his son was doing important things, just slacking off. Just imagining this made Lichtendahl want to pinch the bridge of his nose, the feeling of a headache forming was growing stronger.

"I would ask if you were busy with paperwork, but I doubt I would get a respectable response from you." He sighed. "You haven't been causing too much chaos, have you?" It was the only thing he could ask. Besides, 'how has your day been' or 'any new assignments'. He'd much rather see his son stay out of trouble than make sure his son was actually getting assignments. He sure Petya had enough things to keep him busy.

Petya placed a hand over his chest and put on a mock hurt look at his father's words about paperwork and a respectable response. "I'm hurt," he said, "you know I do my paperwork and it keeps me very busy." Alright so it only kept him busy when the deadline for it came around and he had to hurry and get it done before he got in trouble, but still. A smirk came over his face at the mention of not causing chaos and for a second he thought about it. He'd been doing pretty well in the last couple of days, not getting in trouble and flirting a little less, but that really didn't mean much of anything.

"What do you considering too much chaos?" he asked after a second, though the smirk on his face gave away that he'd been up to something.

Lichtendahl knew how to ignore the hurt looks his son gave him which he knew to be false. While he did know there were plenty of times that Petya was actually working. But there were also plenty of times when Petya avoided work like the plague. And Lichty was sure that this was one of those times. "You do it when it is conveinent to your time table and when it's the very last minute." He didn't think he ever got briefings on any assignments from his son before the deadline. But, then again, most divisions tended to give him briefings on the deadline date. Those were always fun meetings with Department heads. They were extremely long and took forever.

Lichtendahl remained silent for a minute after his son asked him what he considered to be too much chaos. He just stared at the young male with a serious expression, as if saying 'are you serious?'. "Anything that would recquire you to apologise to someone." It was usually how he defined chaos. If you had to apologize to someone, then you were causing chaos.

Petya really couldn't argue with his father on that point. Most of the time he was doing things when it was convenient for him and at the last minute, but at least it got done. It could have been much worse and he could have never got the job done. At least he always got the actual field work done and it wasn't last minute, unless absolutely necessary. He even thought this was a good enough thing to point out to his father. "The field work is always done right and as quickly as possible." That had to count for something, right?

The twenty-five year old barely with held a smirk at the older Klein's words. His hands were shoved in his pockets and he was looking at the ground as he really thought about what he'd just come back from doing. Therefore he missed the look at was sent his way. After a moment of thinking it over he looked up at the man with a grin on his face. "Then I am happy to say I haven't been causing any chaos," he told the man rather proud of himself.

Lichtendahl sighed. He didn't know what he was going to do with his son. He was a handful, that was for sure. He gave all the others a run for their money, even the youngest boys. Worst would be if he started to rub off on them, especially Valentin. "We would be having more talks if you didn't hand in your paperwork on time." It would be a long talk that would probably entail grounding the kid. And what twenty-year old kid would want to be grounded. And Lichty was sure he would be able to stick to his son being grounded.

"For once... If I had a small gold star, I would give it to you for good behavior." He considered almost letting his son pick what would be for dinner tonight.

Petya really didn't think he was that bad about things. Sure he flirted a lot, but what guy didn't like to flirt with pretty girls? Then again it probably wouldn't be do bad if the pretty girls weren't taken with boyfriends and husbands that had no problem trying to beat him up. If they'd simply tell him they were taken he wouldn't run into those problems nearly as much as he tended too. The man made a face at the thought of having more talks with his father about work and responsibility and other stupid stuff like that. He got enough of it now and there was no need for more.

He blinked at the mention of a gold star for good behavior. "I behave," he protested, "a lot. You're just never around when it happens." And that was the truth because when he was out he followed the rules until the assignment was over and then he had his fun.

Lichty wanted to laugh when his son said that he behaved a lot. "Perhaps it is because I often hear more about your misbehavior than your good behavior." It was only the truth. It wasn't like people were ever sent to his office for amazing behavior. He heard more complaints than compliments when it came to various people around the Ministry. If only people felt like telling him about those who were behaving. He would be more likely to promote people up to higher up positions if he noticed who was good at what.

"Well maybe people need to start pointing out when I am behaving," Petya decided with a nod of his head, "that way you can know in the future." Of course he didn't really care one way or the other if his father knew when he was behaving, but it would be nice for those few times to be acknowledged. "Maybe you should start telling your higher ups to inform you of these good times," he added in with a grin.

Lichty was quiet for a minute while he thought about that. It would actually be nice to hear when his son was behaving, so the idea of actually having those above Petya inform him when his son is behaving was an idea he actually thought about putting into place. "Maybe I will. Although if you just behaved all the time, there wouldn't be any need to have you monitored in the first place." Lichtendahl sighed. "You're supposed to set a good example for those younger than you, from those newly out of school and new to the Ministry to your younger siblings. Last thing I need is for Valentin to start acting more like you. It's already bad enough Ivaylo is like a mini-you." He was not pleased in that turn of events in the least and was doing his best to correct it.

Petya almost started laughing when his father commented about him just behaving all the time and it wouldn't matter. "But father," he said with a grin, "if I behaved all the time then things around here would be boring." He raised an eyebrow when his father started talking about his younger siblings acting like him. That was rather amusing. The fact that Ivaylo tended to ask him for advice and such was nice. And he really didn't think that he was teaching them anything too bad. Just because the younger male tended to take after him didn't mean it was entirely Petya's fault. "I'm sure there's nothing to worry about with Valentin," he tried to assure his father, though he really didn't believe it.

A few very flustered workers then ran on by, they didn't seem to be too happy with what was going on, though it was no doubt personal. One of them did manage to stumble right on by the Minister and his son as they spoke, dropping his things everywhere, and shouting in absolute displeasure.

Lichty couldn't hide his amused smile when his son said that ings would be boring if he changed his ways. It was true. He had grown so used to hearing about evything his son was getting up to. It was never anything that would warrant his son being fired. It was always harmless things that usually just ended up with a light scolding and Lichtendahl secretly ensuring his Petya got a little bit more work than usual. "I really wouldn't want you to change, if I were honest. I just wish you would grow up just a little to not scare the new interns. Several are quite confused as to how the Ministry is actually run." He sighed, shaking his head. The faint smile on his lips betrayed him trying to act like he was disappointed or annoyed with his son. But before he could say anything, a Ministry worker seemed to drop everything while running by. He was quick to help them get back on their way before turning back to his son. "Corrupting Ivaylo to be like you was enough." Valentin was his pride, and he probably babies his youngest son just a little too much. But the child was special, he was slower than other kids his age. And it worried Lichty to no end. "But do look out for him, Petya. Guide him in a good way." In a way that he would call a good way, not a way that Petya would consider good. That was because they sometimes had different views on the real definition of what the word 'good' happened to be.

Petya was glad to hear that his father wouldn't want him to change. He supposed he could grow up a little bit, but it was fun scaring the new interns. It was especially amusing to flirt with the new female interns. Some of them were just out of school and still blushed and stuttered over their words when he started flirting with them. Well they did until one of the older interns or employees arrived and guided the poor girls away while trying to explain to them that he was just messing around and that he wasn't serious and other such silly things. The man didn't understand what was wrong with a little harmless flirting now and again. "I can't help that most of them come here confused out of their minds about how the ministry works," he complained, "it's their own fault for not studying up a little more."

The twenty-five year old laughed at his father's words about corrupting Ivaylo being enough. "It's never enough to just corrupt one of them," he teased, "I have to corrupt them all." Alright so that was a bit of an exaggeration, but still if his siblings were a bit like him then they wouldn't have to worry about them not being able to fend for themselves or something. He caught the seriousness of his father's words about looking out for his littlest sibling and nodded. "I'll always look out for him dad," he told the man, "you know that."

Lichty sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He could feel the headache growing. His son sometimes felt like a hopeless cause. But he was still his son and he couldn't give up on him. No. He just had to believe Petya would one day grow up. He was still young, there was still so much for him to learn and experiences that could shape him. "I doubt you flirting with them constantly helps alleviate their confusion regarding the Ministry."

Lichtendahl's smile totally betrayed the look of disapproval he was trying to give his son. But he knew that his son was teasing him. He knew that Petya was just being a good older brother and that it was probably hero worship of sorts that caused the younger ones to obtain traits similar to the older ones. "I'm going to hold it to you. I won't always be around to look out for them so the responsibility will rest on you." No pressure really. He'd probably live to see his children all get respectable jobs in whatever field they wanted to go into.

Re: Life Is About Teaching Lessons [Bulgarian Ministry]

Postby Petya Klein » Mon Jan 14, 2013 7:30 pm

Petya frowned at his father's words and folded his arms over his chest. "I don't constantly flirt with them," he defended, "only a few times a week and it's hardly ever the same girl twice in a month." Since the man wasn't being serious when he flirted he saw no problem with. Now if he were like some of the men he'd seen out in public then he could understand the concern, but considering his was harmless and only words he didn't see the problem. Maybe it was an older person thing? Sort of like certain subjects were for the adults and not kids whatever his father saw wrong with his actions would only be understood when he was the other man's age. "Would you rather I offer them a tour and to explain how the ministry works then?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. It wasn't a very smart idea to have Petya giving young interns tours or explaining how things ran in the ministry since he tended to run by his own rules unless he really needed to follow the rules of the place.

The twenty-five year old frowned when his father mentioned the responsibility that would fall to his shoulders once he was gone. "Oh please you'll be around for years at least until Val is out of school and married with a bunch of brats of his own," he told his dad, not liking the line of conversation. Sure he knew it would happen one day and then he would step up and take over watching out for all of his siblings but just thinking about his dad not being here anymore made him feel uncomfortable. He shook his head to rid himself of his thoughts and sighed. "But you won't have to worry cause even then I'll look out for all of them. They're my little siblings and no matter how old they get I won't let anything happen to them."

Postby Lichtendahl Klein » Sun Jan 20, 2013 12:46 pm

Lichtendahl had to think about it for a minute. He would much prefer his son not being such a flirt and scaring new members. "No. I would prefer you keep your hands to yourself and eyes on your work. You're 25, Petya. You could become Department head by 30 if you applied yourself more. You could even become my right hand man if you applied yourself more. However, until then, you'll always be stuck as a Field Agent." And he wanted to see all his children succeed, make something of themselves. However, he didn't even know if Petya had the ambition or not to climb the Ministry ranks.

Lichty's smile was gentle, one that was only reserved for his family. "It puts me at ease knowing that." It really did. He sometimes worried about it. But hearing the words made him feel better about the future.

Petya let out a sigh at his father's words. Of course the man would rather him just sit quietly at his desk and have nothing to do with anyone else in the building. That would make him the good son, wouldn't it? The son that did his work and had no social life at all. That was what his father wanted wasn't it? Well that and for him to strive to become the head of his department because being a field agent wasn't good enough. The twenty-five year old held his tongue to keep from saying something rude to his father. Now was not the time to get into this discussion. They were in the middle of the ministry where anyone could hear and this was something that should be discussed in private, away from those who might decide to take it to the media to get a little money or something.

He was glad that his father was put at ease a little by his words. They were some of the most truthful things he would ever say in his life. His family mattered a lot to him even if he never showed it and he would do anything to protect them even when they were all one hundred fifty years old with no hair and big bellies and lots of grandkids and great grandkids and great-great-grandkids running around them.

The man was just about to say something else when a couple of people walked by them talking about finishing reports that were due today, which caught his attention. "What is today?" he suddenly asked his father as he glanced at the man. He had a few reports he had to finish about some of his latest jobs and they were due sometime soon he knew.

Re: Life Is About Teaching Lessons [Bulgarian Ministry]

Postby Peyton Rose » Tue Jan 29, 2013 2:56 pm

Peyton was walking down the halls, finally finished with what brought her up here. She thought that was never going to end. She finished a lot of her work earlier than expected, so the thought whilst she was up here, she might as well see Petya. If he was up here. That guy was always going around doing something. Or flirting with someone - which she was going to have to talk with him about, if things between them continued.

As she walked along the halls, she looked up and finally seen Peyta. Smiling, she noticed he was talking to someone, and very in-depth about whatever it was that they were discussing. The person looked like a higher up, so she hoped he wasn't in trouble again. His father wouldn't like that too much. As she got closer, she wondered if she should just wave at him, and pass him by. Obviously this was an important conversation... no that wouldn't do. Finally, she say the face of who he was talking to. Oh it was his father. The minister. Peyton's eyes widened a bit, but she'd see if they were talking about anything important before interrupting.

As she reached them, she overhead Petya asking about what day it was. She giggled at him. "Maybe you should pay more attention to the calender, Peyta." She told him, stopping beside him as she smiled up at him. "It's May 5th, the day before St. George's Day. At least in Bulgaria."

Before Lichtendahl could reply to his son, someone else spoke up for him. He knew all members of the Ministry, made sure to remember names and faces. "Hello, Miss Rose. I trust that yourself and the other Unspeakables are continuing to behave." He did visit there from time to time, but he often left them alone due to the nature of their work. They did not need him to hover down there to make sure that they were actually doing work. No. They were the department he trusted most not to goof around with their jobs.

Petya glanced beside him when a voice that was not his father's answered his question. "I do pay attention to the calendar Ms.Rose," Petya was quick to inform her, "at least enough to know when some important days are. Like say...ten days from today?" He was of course hinting at the woman's birthday that would be arriving in just over a week's time. "I just...forgot to look at the calendar before I left my desk."

At his dad's words about Peyton and the Unspeakables behaving the man couldn't stop the laugh from escaping him. "I think the Unspeakables would be too scared of what might happen to their experiments if they took the time to goof off," he told his dad as he wrapped an arm around Peyton's shoulders, "but Ms. Rose here, she would never goof off simply because she would be scared of getting in trouble. Isn't that righty Peyton?" Of course the man knew that the woman next to him didn't want to get in trouble, but he was rather sure that it wasn't the fear of trouble that kept her from goofing off.

Re: Life Is About Teaching Lessons [Bulgarian Ministry]

She smiled at the Minister as he spoke her to. And wondered if Petya told his father. Her adopted family kind of knows, but that's just because her sister found out and she's a gossip. She's let him tell though. She wasn't about to get between father and son in that aspect. "Of course, Minister Klein. We take our work very seriously. " Turned to Petya, she rolled her eyes a bit. He's always just a character. As she felt him put his arm around her, she wondered yet again if her boyfriend has told Minister Klein they were dating.

"And Peyta, I don't like to get in trouble. So sue me?" She smiled put at him and added. "Happy that you remembered by birthday, though." She really was happy about that. Her last three boyfriends never remembered her birthday. How hard was it to mark a calender?

Lichtendahl watched the scene between his eldest son and the Unspeakable. He wanted to place a finger on what he suspected was going on. But he had seen Petya flirting not too long ago. Did he honestly think that his son would flirt while he had a girlfriend? Lichty had to think about that for a minute. Yes. He did think he son would flirt while having a girlfriend.

Lichtendahl was quite happy to hear they took their work seriously. "And that is perhaps why I'm quite happy to always claim the Department of Mysteries are the children whom I do not need to babysit, unlike some people." That was directed right at Petya.

Lichty blinked but then remembered. "Right. Your birthday, Miss Rose." He often did things for birthdays for members. Many which no one expected him to agree to, such as a Department wide celebration. "I'd like your submission for your birthday request within five days." He liked to allow the members to pick what the Ministry gift was, whether it be time off, a vacation, birthday celebration, an owl, new items for the Department, etc. Of course, he always personally sent gifts to Ministry employees. It was his way of saying he did, in fact, care about them.

The man was not impressed by his father's words. "You don't have to babysit people," he mumbled, "we're all adults here." Sure he tended to get off track on what he was doing, but only when he was in the comfort of his own ministry or once his job was done. He would never let his flirting and goofing off get in the way of his work. The blonde man stuck his tongue out at his girlfriend when she mentioned not liking to get in trouble. "Maybe I should," he teased with a grin at the mention of suing her for not liking to get in trouble.

At the mention of remembering her birthday the man's smile turned a bit more sincere and he pressed a kiss to her temple. "As if I would forget," he told her with a roll of her eyes, "I wouldn't be a good boyfriend if I forgot my girlfriend's birthday." The twenty-five year old blinked when his father suddenly told the woman about the birthday request. He tended to forget that his father gave ministry workers things for their birthdays. "You should ask for a ministry wide party," he whispered to Peyton loud enough for his father to hear.
