New Player Handbook

#25388
Welcome to Vault713
We're so glad you chose us as your Harry Potter roleplaying website. Vault 713 has been around since 2001 and has always provided players with a premier roleplaying experience. Our welcoming community makes sure that every player counts and won't get lost in the shuffle of our player base and history.

The Basics
Like with any new roleplaying site, make sure to take a look and familiarize yourself with our Rules & Guidelines.

Much like Hogwarts, the Vault is your home away from home. We have very lax activity requirements and have players of all writing levels and speeds. If you're looking for what type of roleplayer you might be on the Vault, take a look at our Find Your Vault Magic! thread. Hopefully you'll find what you're looking for!

Players can roleplay in up to 7 different timelines! Explore the early days of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry in the Founders Era, experience the Harry Potter series in Golden Era, and see what the future of the wizarding world might hold in Legacy Era. And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our timeline forums!

The Vault, its staff, and its players are honored to have you here and we can't wait to see how you make your own magic within our forums!

Community & Characters
As a new player, you'll want to introduce yourself in our Discord server! Click this link to be taken to the server once you've made a Discord account. You can download the client or access it on the web here. Once you're done that, it's time to make a new character!

We have many character types and professions from which players can choose. Hop on over to the Character Creation guide to read up on your guidelines. Knowing these guidelines at the time you post your character sheet will get you in the game faster!

Once you've read over those, it's time to take a look at the Character Types page to see what kind of character speaks to you. You can find these and many other useful links in the Resource Library. The Resource Library is essential to your time here at the Vault.

So, you've made your character and you're looking to get into some threads. Become familiar with your primary era's current plot by looking at our plot information. Then hop into the appropriate Fixed Timeline forum to have fun!

We recommend putting up a character profile so that other players can learn more about your character as they make their journey through Vault 713. And last but not least, feel free to make a thread in the Connection Classifieds to work out what kinds of friends, co-workers, or other relationships your character might have with others!
