NAME: Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks
CHARACTER TYPE: Witch (Metamorphmagus)
DATE OF BIRTH: February 4, 1973
EMPLOYER: Ministry of Magic

COUNTRY FLAG: English Flag

What is the concept for your character?
Tonks is a young Auror and a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Currently, she is in a rather dark time in her life. Tonks has fallen in love with Remus Lupin and he has rejected her, she can no longer use her metamorphic abilities, and her patronus has changed. She is constantly burrowing herself in work for the Order and her actual job as a distraction. Because of all of the emotional stress occurring, she is on a journey to learn about herself in ways that she didn’t anticipate, mainly finding what makes her happy and what she desires in life.
What other eras will they be active in and what will their job be in each era?
Tonks is only in the Golden Era. She is an Auror at the Ministry of Magic and a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
The Basics
Smart. Strong. Passionate. A little clumsy.

The very first thing that people notice is that Tonks is a Metamorphmagus, which means she can change her appearance at will. She is currently depressed, and as a result she cannot use her abilities. This change has struck her to her core, as she has always had her powers.

Tonks is an Auror, and a damn good one at that. She likes to work hard, learn and be successful. Her attitude, for the most part, is positive. Though she is a witch you would not want to mess with, she also loves to have a good time and loves pulling pranks. She is a loyal friend, like most Hufflepuffs are, and she tries to make light of most situations. However, she has no problem fighting with anyone who stands in her way, and thus she does have enemies.

She is not particularly good at change, and she doesn't know how to cope with emotions very well. When she is sad or stressed, she has coped with alcohol in the past (a problem that developed during her 7th year at Hogwarts). However, she has found that as long as she keeps buys, she is able to cope with her emotions much better. However, this leads to her over-exerting herself and thus she is overly tired and a little moody.

Tonks's wand is Sycamore wood, unicorn hair core, 14", slightly springy. Her preferred method of transportation is her Comet 260 with her signature pink ribbon tied to the end. Her Patronus used to be a Jack Rabbit, but changed to a wolf when she was officially rejected by Remus Lupin. Much like her Metamorphmagus abilities and her Patronus, her boggart also changed. She used to see herself dying as a result of her clumsiness, but now she is afraid she will never be happy again.

Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks was born on February 4, 1973 to Edward "Ted" Tonks and Andromeda Tonks (formerly Black). Within the first few hours of her birth, her metamorphagus abilities came through. As a result of her strange ability, she learned to communicate her feelings at a young age by changing her hair color. In addition to her appearance changing due to her feelings, she loved imitating the way other people looked, or the snouts of other creatures (since she quickly discovered that her nose was the only thing she could mimic on other animals). It would earn her looks from strangers who saw, but Tonks never noticed and would happily perform her tricks for anyone. Even though her father was a Muggle-born, Tonks did not learn a lot about the Muggle world until she was able to control her abilities a bit more. Once she was a bit older, she used her abilities as a way to make people laugh.

Dora was her daddy's little girl. Though Tonks loved her mother, she never really had a lot in common with her. She was always running around like a little devil, causing havoc and trying to have fun. Her mother constantly tried to control her, but Tonks had an energy and a spirit that couldn't be controlled.

She didn't know any family outside of her parents. Andromeda was disowned from her family for marrying a muggle-born man. Andromeda mentioned her cousin Sirius a few times, but Tonks had only been around him when she was really, really little, and then he seemed to disappear. She would ask her mother about him every once in a while, but the subject was quickly shut down. Tonks was only allowed around Ted's family when she was older (and could stop herself from shifting her appearance, which her grandparents found disconcerting), and by that point she didn't really have an interest in getting to know more about them. She had her parents, and that was all she needed.

At age eleven, she received her Hogwarts letter. She was ready to take on the future, and was excited to go to a place where she didn't have to be controlled.

"Nymphadora Tonks," the sorting hat boomed. The then eleven-year-old looked around at her fellow first years before pushing forward to take her seat on the stool at the front of the great hall. Her entire young life had been building to this moment.

"Just Tonks," she corrected the hat before clumsily plopping down on the stool. The hat felt strange on her head as it moved around. Her anxiousness was tangible as she fidgeted, waiting for the hat to make its decision. As she waited, ignoring whatever the hat was saying, she stared at the Slytherin table. Her mother was a pure-blood, and all of her family, except her mother's cousin Sirius, had been sorted into Slytherin. Then she glanced to the Hufflepuff table, which is where her father belonged during his time at Hogwarts. Naturally, since the girl had never seen eye-to-eye with her mother, she was hoping for the latter house.

"Hufflepuff," the hat said. Tonks grinned as she slid off the stool. As she made her way to the long table, she scrunched her face and turned her hair bright yellow to match the Hufflepuff house color.

Tonks loved her time at Hogwarts. Though she liked to pull pranks and often wound up in trouble with her best friend Bill Weasley (and sometimes Charlie Weasley), Tonks was very bright. She always had high marks in her classes, and was very gifted in transfiguration. She was not talented with any household charms, and potions was another class she lacked natural talent in.

Bill Weasley was more than just her best friend. He was her rock, her competition (especially because he was a Gryffindor), and he was the one person who Tonks would do anything for. She even loved his family, and instantly had a connection with his mother, Molly Weasley. Even after Hogwarts, the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff stayed very, very close. She also was friends with Charlie Weasley, who was in her year at Hogwarts.
In between pulling pranks with Bill and her classes, she was a Keeper on the Quidditch team. Flying became her first love, and with every broom she got, she tied her signature pink ribbon on the end to match her favorite pink-spiky hair. As she continued through Hogwarts, she discovered she wanted to be an Auror. Though she never fully gave up her prankster ways, she did focus more on her studies.

After Hogwarts, Tonks jumped into Auror training. Her mentor was Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody. It was the most rigorous and crazy thing she had ever attempted. She was tired, she was moody, her body constantly ached from exhaustion, but she kept pushing through. She respected Mad-Eye a lot, but there were times when their strong personalities clashed. Tonks just barely passed her Auror test, due to her clumsy nature she almost failed stealth and tracking. Even when she had passed training, she still kept close to her mentor. He was someone she looked up to, and continued learning from.

When she heard that Voldemort was back, Mad-Eye approached Tonks about joining the Order of the Phoenix to help take down the Dark Lord. Tonks immediately agreed, for a number of reasons. First of all, Tonks was born with a target on her back because of her mother's family, and she wanted to make sure her parents stayed safe. They were the only blood relatives that she had. Second, she felt it was her duty as an Auror to protect the wizarding community from any threats that arose.

Joining the Order proved to be one of the best decisions. She found a group of people that she mostly enjoyed being with. Though she was one of the youngest members, she never felt like she was underestimated or underappreciated. It was there that she met Remus Lupin.

It was a warm, summer day. She stood outside for the burrow for a moment, taking in the sun. This place, this home, was familiar. She had spent many previous summer days here. On this particular day, though, she was not at the Burrow for pleasure. Today was strictly business. After another moment, she stepped into the house, and walked up one of the staircases to the kitchen.

The kitchen was Tonks's favorite place in the Weasley home. She had a lack of house-hold skills, and she often loved coming over just to watch Molly clean the house and serve her family a full meal like it was nothing. Plus, who could say no to Molly's cooking?

She had been a little surprised to see her cousin, Sirius, standing in the kitchen. She hadn't seen him in years because of a murder he was falsely accused of. She had known that his name was cleared, but she still sensed the tension as she approached him. "Wotcher Sirius," she said, taking care to maneuver around the chairs spread around the table in the kitchen. She then glanced over to the man Sirius had been talking to. He was tall, around Sirius's age, and a little sad looking. "Who's this, then?"

"Hey Tonks," Sirius said, giving her a small smile. "This is Remus. Remus this is my cousin Nymphadora—" "It's just Tonks. Pleasure," she said, reaching her hand out to the man.

Tonks didn't know that handshake, and that small moment, would shape the rest of her life. What started out as a little crush soon blossomed into love. For whatever reason, Lupin kept rejecting her. After many months of flirting, unrequited perusal and rejection, it started to take a toll on her mental health. She was stressed, she was anxious about the rising tensions in the wizarding world, and she felt very lonely. On top of the drama that was Remus Lupin, Tonks had other things to worry about. At the end of Harry's fifth year of Hogwarts, she was summoned to the Department of Mysteries to help save Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna, Neville and Ginny from the Death Eaters. It was there she came face-to-face with her aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange. The two dueled, and Tonks ended up taking a nasty fall and hitting her head. She had thought she was done for, but Bellatrix had more important things to take care of, it seemed. There were three things she remembered as she fell in and out of consciousness. One, Mad- Eye rushing to her side, telling her to focus on staying conscious. Two, Bellatrix murdering Sirius. Three, Remus and Harry's face as they watched the most important person in their world ripped away from them.

She was sent to St. Mungo's for her injuries. Tonks restricted guests to just her parents. She didn't want to see Mad-Eye, who she felt she had disappointed. She didn't want to see Bill, who would try to make her not feel the guilt that started to crush her. Most of all, she didn't want to see Remus, because she felt partially responsible for Sirius's death.

It was a nippy fall morning, and as usual the woman dragged herself out of bed to start getting ready for the long day of work ahead. It had been months since the fight at the department of Mysteries, but she still wasn't sleeping well. Bellatrix had a way of haunting her nightmares. As she stumbled her way into the bathroom, she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and attempted to move from her groggy state. Tonks stopped in front of the mirror, not very surprised at her appearance. Though her appearance stayed consistent when she was awake, sometimes her facial features would shift at night when she was dreaming. Her hair was short and a mousy brown, it looked dull against her compaction. Her eyes were dark and she had bags from the lack of sleep. She thought of the pink, spiky hair she adored, scrunched up her face and waited for the natural shift to happen. But nothing came. Her hair stayed brown. She pursed her lips and tried again. Still no change. Tonks leaned against the sink counter and looked at herself closely in the mirror, focusing on changing her eye color now. Nothing.

The auror's heart skipped a beat, this had never happened to her before. Her cheeks turned red as she tried to change the shape of her nose, her face, her lips, her eyebrows…. And nothing. Her shaky hands made their way up to her face and her eyes brimmed with tears. She had lost an essential part of herself, of her identity. She quickly blinked away her tears and moved away from the mirror, forcing herself to breathe deep breaths.

Mad-Eye was the first person she thought of to tell. Her mentor would know what to do and how to help her, right? Tonks then ran back into her bedroom and reached for her wand. "Expecto Patronum," she said with conviction, allowing her happiest memory to flood her mind- the day she became an auror. Instead of her normal jack rabbit appearing and hopping around her, a tall, skinny wolf appeared. She staggered back, her heart racing as she watched it disappear. "Remus," she whispered, dropping to the floor and burying her face in her hands as the hot tears poured down her pale cheeks.

Ever since the day she discovered her abilities were changed, Tonks has been distracted. She is constantly worried sick about Lupin, and has argued to anyone in the Order that would listen (and even to those who won't) that he should not be putting his life in danger and spending time with other werewolves. She feels guilty and responsible for his absence. She has been over the Weasley's home for tea and sympathy at least once a week, and she is focused on her work at the Ministry and her shifts for the Order. She has most often been stationed at Hogsmeade. Though her life is in shambles right now, she is slowly trying to rebuild her life and her broken heart, one piece at a time.

Hiya Dede! Welcome aboard!

I don't think the instructions code is actually functional; I think it's really only there to outline any guides to use the sheets. Speaking of sheets, are you wanting to use the freeform style? If so, that's totally fine - you can just remove the instructions tags, but it's not something that would prevent sorting anyway!

I also want to say I love your sheet! You clearly have a very passionate and in-depth knowledge of Tonks, and I love the little RP snippets interspersed throughout for her stages in life. I can't wait to see her on the board!

Hey, thanks so much! :)

Yep, I was using the freeform app, I removed the tags! I was a little nervous it would affect her getting accepted, and I totally thought it was user error since I'm bad at codes LOL! Thanks so much, I am going to move her app over to character creation since it's now open! :)
